Well Chris evens revealed that they still kept in touch after the movie and they had such a fun time making it that they of course wanted to come back for more.
Disney wasn't even able to get Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in What If. The filming of Scott Pilgrim certainly had a big impact on them if every single cast member agreed to reprise their roles immediately.
@@Inkypencil22 I like it because the show ended in a place where the story feels satisfyingly wrapped up but there's still enough room for another season if they did ever decide to continue it.
We need a full documentary of this on Netflix. The fact *almost* everyone involved from the decade old movie is involved in the series has to be a super interesting story.
I think it's mostly just that they had so much fun with the movie they wanted to come back. They also did a script read thing during the pandemic. It's pretty clear that they're all really passionate about Scott Pilgrim.
Let's not forget Satya Bhabha. Basically all the Asian actors and the two white girls. I thought MEW wasn't bad at playing the cool/cuteness of Ramona up either but nothing standout compared to those who you just mentioned
Will Forte is an actor I don't think I will ever tire of seeing He just has such comedic timing and enthusiasm, I just love the man! Glad he was able to get a role he was clearly passionate about too :)
Unfortunately Michael Cera got so absorbed into his role that he literally got absorbed into his role. They can't figure out how to pull him out of the animation. He's just like that now.
It’s so awesome to hear these people play these specific characters again! I just wish we could have seen more of the actors during the recording process!
you can really tell that they were enjoying making this show even before this video came out, it must have been amazing to come back to scott pilgrim after all these years :-)
Not that the cast isn't amazing already, but I REALLY want to find the voice director for Takes Off and thank them for their work!! Lots of people give flack to celebrities in voice-acting roles, saying they are often flat. But you can tell everyone is giving their all, and even improving upon, their live action portrayals of the Scott Pilgrim characters. Which is fantastic, as a long time fan of the movie!!!
That's none other than Tony Oliver, who has had decades of experience in the anime industry as both an actor and director! Just about everything he's touched is pure gold and I'm glad he was on board for this show!
Yeah.. it was a bit of a risk to play the roles nearly identically to the live action and not try to make them a bit more… “animated” and expressive but it worked. The more subtle and borderline flat delivery of some of the characters worked and was absolutely hilarious like young Neil. Any other director would insist on a more goofy and cartoonish delivery like a typical anime or cartoon but his quiet flat “old young Neil.. huh. I wonder if there’s any relation?” Makes it even funnier.
Everyone is a gem as always but Alison Pill is the cherry on top. She goes melo voice to that awesome yell that I loved in the movie. I'm grateful if it ends here but I'll be excited if this gets another season!
one of my favorite things voice actors do is really make the movements the characters are making, it seems unnecessary because you can't see them but it totally helps the sound
I thought Brandon Routh did by far the best job out of the voice cast. He sounded exactly like he did when he played Todd almost 15 years ago but added that anime overactive flair when needed.
I wish the Katayanagi Twins got more screen time as they seem to be the only two Exes who get the short end of the stick in every piece of media they're in except the original comic book. They are way more fleshed out in the anime compared to the film though.
I'm not a Scott Pilgrim _fan_ per se. I watched the film by the end of 2019 for the first time, like 3 months before the cornova pandemic hit my country. I watched it with my friends. It was... weird. It was... strange. It was... interesting. I had a good time doing it. Then I saw the zoom reunion the cast did in 2020, this year. Like... one week ago. Then the same day I discovered that they had all come back to reprise their roles. I watched this anime single-handedly based on the sheer friendship and abnormality of observing all of these guys being wholesome together, so much so they choose to come back to make a love project like this one. I loved this show. It felt more wholesome than the film and like the characters were more fleshed out. I liked it. 9/10. It's so weird watching this crossover between the guy from Superbad, Wendy from Final Destination 3, Shadow King, the girl from Pitch Perfect, the girl from Room, the guy from Snowpiercer, f*cking Roman Roy, Katara, etc.
I really love that this came together and it's so awesome that they got everyone back. My only minor gripe is that it's obvious that they all recorded their lines in isolation, which seems a bit challenging for many of the actors. Some of their lines feel flat. That said, I'm still really happy that SPTO is in our lives!
this series really made me laugh, cry, yell histerically, love histerically, maybe there won't be a season 2, but this will always be a treasure to me and to appreciate for the rest of my days
