I was so excited to watch this video! My family is from Gibraltar 🇬🇮 and I can tell you it's got a long unique history involving many different types of people. It's often misunderstood as Britain owns it so people think it's English or half Spanish and half English. It is one of the last British colonies left, now known as British Overseas Territories. Culture: It's got it's own culture of mainly Andalucian from southern Spain including places called La Linea de la conception, San Roque, Malaga and many more mixed with people that came to work the past century or two from other places in Spain including Catalans, the Baleriac island Minorca, Algarve in southern Portugal, Genoa in northern Italy, a Jewish family from Morocco, Maltese, Moroccans and British (English, Scottish) and Irish. The Irish Christian brothers (missionaries) taught in schools in the 1950s and there is a place called Irish Town. There is also a Greek surname I have seen called Panayotti. Everyone has different surnames from different countries. Language: Spanish and English is spoken at home and officially English is spoken in schools and for government purposes. The dialect is called Llanito which is similar to Andalucian Spanish, but also other words are used like the Gitano name for money "parne" and the Portuguese word for butter "mantega" plus some words become Anglicised like cake becomes "keki" pronounced "cake-y". My Dad said it's the most similar Spanish to Cuban Spanish. However language changes over time and the younger generation speaks more English probably due to social media. History: We have a history with Argentina as well as related to other Latin countries Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Mexico in particular. Spain was under Moorish rule for 700 years and Gibraltar was named after their leader Jebel Tariq. It has been under British rule since 1704. The arts: Art, dance and music is a massive part of the culture. Lots of singing, church choirs, dance classes, art centres and musicians. They host a concert for National Day and they hold rock and reggae concerts at Casemates (the square/plaza) and in St Michael's cave plus festivals. Religions: Majority is Roman Catholic, also synagogues and mosques (a huge mosque at Europa point). Shopping: One main high street called Main Street in the middle of Gibraltar. It has British high street shops and also local shops. It has a shopping centre at the end near Casemates. Casemates has various restaurants and pubs. Food: Website Mama Lotties showcases some of the food made in Gibraltar. Dna Ancestry: Ancestry from all over Spain including Canary Islands and Baleriac islands, Italy, Sardinia, Malta, British & Irish, French. Trace ancestry of Jewish, North African (Moroccan, Algerian), West African (Ghanaian/ Liberian/Sierra Leoneon, Nigerian, Senegambian), East Asian (Korean). Celebrities: John Galliano Michelle Keegan is 1/8 Albert Hammond Rita Hayworth (dad had links to Gibraltar) Jo Frost - Supernanny (1/2)
This is why I Like your videos , you go to places that others don’t go. Brothers still stuck in D.R. Colombia , Mexico, Brazil. We seen all that ! You the Man 👍🏽
Gibraltar is definitely on my bucket list. Nice to see a vlogger stepping off the beaten path and showing us places not often really talked about or visited.
The monkeys there you gotta watch your pockets on that mountain I am aware, your bag, anything you have that is precious or that you need you must keep it tight close to you so it don't go anywhere..
hi checko what a great video been to Spain England but never been to the rock of Gibraltar enjoyed your video very much thanks for a great upload ❤️👍💯🙏🏻
Wow! That was a great video. You travel strange places just like I do. Never know exactly where I'm going, but part of the experience is the process of getting to your destination. Drives my wife crazy! Keep doing what you do my brotha!

Hey thank you for the videos much appreciated from Moroccan brother , but about the gas prices I think they use litter not gallons, double check ant let us know . Peace and love ❤

Hey brother, next time you are in Spain, party life is located in Palma De Mallorca, The BCM club, Dress code is casually slacks, dress shoes, dress shirt. 3 Levels to the club. Best time June through August.
For those of us who have done our homework on the rock of Gibraltar we can relate to the place in history thanks for the update on the culture vultures
Brilliant Bro. Another great video. I've been to England several times and played Wembley 10 sold out nights. We were fooled by the gas prices also but you have to remember. Those prices were for liters not gallons. Fuel is way more expensive in Europe and the UK. I'm really impressed with your Spanish and Portuguese. I try to tell brothers all the time to be a citizen of the World and not just a citizen of their 6 square blocks.
Wonderful my bro! When You have been there? Id like to go there for the sumer but a girl told me the water is too cold...I imagine btw if You were there november/December it's normal its cold, greetings from Milan! We wait 4 U!

You miss the best bit.

There is a text in psalms where the rock of Gibraltar was used as foundation in regards to a church i think its totally dipe seeing that huge rock you walked pass makes you wonder we are still finding out how long we been here in this planet certain land marks just hold the planet down.
True. Not sure if he was comparing it to USA prices, or prices across the border in Spain, which will also be liters but possibly cheaper due to Gibraltar lower taxes

Anyone who studied history and or geography in highschool would know about Gibraltar is a British territory.
I think he meant “never knew about this place I’ll assume nobody else does either” lol
Then, you never went to the school. British stoled the land like a pirates. Gibraltar is a Spain territory as Malvinas is from Argentina.
