    Great content, I used to drink 4 & 5 energy drinks a day. I was constantly tired from lack of restful sleep (6-7hrs). I researched the effects of caffeine on the body. After reading, I cut back to drinking 36oz of coffee & tried to limit the intake to only in the AM. I sleep better with the same amount of sleep, & I’m not tired all the time now. Caffeine has a shelf life in our system, & while caffeine is present, it blocks the adenosine receptors, which is what lets us know we are getting tired or sleepy. Caffeine is good, but time & quantity is key. Again great content!

    Im a nurse and for the past 3 years i have been drinking a sugar free monster almost every day. A month ago i was working nights out of town and driving 5 hours once or twice a week to go home while drinking 1-2 monsters a day, and sleeping about 2-4 hours a day sometimes not sleeping at all for 24 hours.. I did this for about a month and woke up one morning with palpitations that persisted.. about 5 hours later my apple watch told me i had afib.. did an ekg at the hospital and i had Afib RVR in the 140s-160s. this is a dangerous arrythmia that can lead to more complications. I had to be admitted to the hospital and finally converted back to a normal sinus rythym after about 20 hours.... im only 29 years old.. scariest time of my life.

    I think you are incredible for sharing your knowledge with everyone, thank you so much for doing it , my experience with Monster Energy was terrible , after taking 1 can a day everyday I felt I could lift the whole gym , after 2 months doing so , I woke up with a terrible pain in the abdomen, sweating gallons , it was scary , I went to the doctor to check it out , there was an alteration in my liver and I knew it was caused by the energy drink because I eat healthy , don’t drink , don’t smoke and never did any drugs , I researched and found out that inositol found on energy drinks are bad for the liver , so I quit the energy drinks and did another test 3 months later to find out that my liver was back to normal , some brands are stronger and potentially more harmful than others due the high caffeine as well , the sugar found on these drinks can eventually lead to diabetes like happened to a friend of mine on his 30’s . Just wanted to share that you , thank you for all you do and keep up !

      I'm glad you're on the mend, feeling better. I didn't expect you to say it was because of the inositol. The Maximum Daily Intake is 4grams. My (sugar free) Monster addiction started during my time in the Marine Corps. It started as one white monster when I really needed it, fast forward almost 5 years (I’m now out of the Marine Corps)…. My addiction followed me. I have at least one sugar free monster a day. I hardly ever have more than one, and if I do I make sure there’s at least 6-8 hours in between the drinks while drinking plenty of water in between. So thank you for making this video with useful information and content! I definitely need to incorporate a few of your tips into my habit!

    Woman, where have you been all my life?! You called people out on their BS, yet gave accurate information based on your many years of study. You're beautiful, kind, and super smart... very uncommon! haha. Thank you so much for this information. I have caffeine throughout the day, keeping it to one energy drink and a half tab for 100MG Caffeine if I feel a slump around 6 hours after my 160MG Monster White drink. I keep it at or around 300 per day and I'm feeling fine. Sometimes I do get tired after taking a caffeine pill, yet... don't seem to have the same problem when drinking an Energy drink. The pills in question are "No Doze" and I'm not sure if the extra vitamin content in the Monster (4000% daily amount of bullsh#t, whatever that means) that gives the extra pep in the step?

      Hi Lucy, I used to work in a Japanese Mochi factory as Quality Assurance and Lychee was one of the flavors we made. I don't think I've seen it or had any since, but it is yummy. In terms of pursuing biochemistry my #1 tip is to start with a general biochem college class. There are so many different areas you can pursue, from pharma to genetics to (my favorite) metabolic and more! For me, biochem was perfect because it was the gateway to understanding how our bodies react, chemically, when we eat food. A general course is your best bet to finding what ignites your passion.

    If you've ever taken multivitamins in the morning and chased them with Starbucks, you ARE drinking what's in a standard energy drink.

    • @GreenEyedGuide
      @GreenEyedGuide  4 года назад

      Well not exactly. There is a difference when you get your caffeine from coffee because you're getting extra benefits from the chlorogenic acid and other phytochemicals in the coffee. On the other hand, if you're drinking a carbonated energy drink, there's additional "perceived energy" because of the carbonation. Plus taurine reduces bloat and increases fat absorption so you feel different in immeasurable ways with the taurine. In terms of the nutrients, you're not wrong, but in my opinion there's so much more to it which affects us mentally and physically. And sure, some of it might be the placebo effect but I think still matters

    • @GreenEyedGuide
      @GreenEyedGuide  4 года назад

      @UCNqlATKLzy-JG8qiZmbGpKg exactly! I am a chemist and I think I might be more pro-energy drink than you think I am. For one, it drives me crazy when people say energy drinks are poison because there's a HUGE difference between having a Bang energy drink every single day versus having a Mati or V8 or any other energy drink that doesn't fit the stereotype. So my #1 point is it's unfair to say an energy drink every day is going to kill you. But my second point is there are some small differences between having a Red Bull every single day versus a coffee. Those differences aren't "one is good for you, the other is poison, the difference is about all the other reactions that your body goes through with Red Bull ingredients versus coffee ingredients. I hope that clarifies my POV. Thank you SO MUCH for your comments and for watching and commenting.

      It's 2x the amount of caffeine as a Red Bull and there's nothing special about it in terms of the Caffeine or fitness aspect. Caffeine is caffeine. The claims they make on the front about metabolism-caffeine does that. If you like the taste and it's not too much caffeine for you, go for it. But it only takes 75mg of caffeine to get a functional effect, so you might not need 200mg every time. Health authorities say 200mg is the max amount of caffeine that is safe before a workout and 200mg is exactly how much Caffeine is in Celsius. It's technically a safe dosage but you don't need that full 200mg to see a benefit in your workouts.

    I hope someone reads this and can help me. So I've had one can of Energy Drinks a day for about two years, it specifically is Rockstar Grape (160mg of caffeine is in a 500 ml can, and it has 38,5g of sugar). Yes, there is only the 500ml can. I have no issues sleeping or anything just sometimes, when I'm having one, I get dizzy, it depends if I've eaten enough or something like that. I developed a habit of drinking one every day at late evening and the thought of not having one makes me a bit upset.

    • @GreenEyedGuide
      @GreenEyedGuide  3 года назад

      Hmmm, dizziness can be due to a few different things, including the sugar and the caffeine. I love the Zero Ultra Rockstar Grape myself. If you're not having trouble sleeping, it could be the sugar rush on an empty stomach. Maybe you could try a sugar-free grape Rockstar and see if you notice the difference - that might be a better option if you're not interested in cutting it out altogether. I hope that helps! That's probably not good... Side-effects you might experience include difficulty sleeping, nausea, anxiety, inability to sit still (like constantly tapping your foot), headache, racing heart, dizziness, and maybe vomiting (depending on the vitamin content in the energy drink). Most energy drinks recommended not having more than 2 per day.
