2:24 Little fact about the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The Pols rebelled when they knew the Soviets were close enough in order to assist the Red Army by getting German units involved in combat on the rear of their units engaging the Soviets. Stalin, being a SOB, ordered his army to stop advancing so the Germans could wipe out the Pols, who he saw as an enemy (Nationalist Polish Government) since intended to occupy Poland indefinitely after the war.
Mark there is a ww1 german sub in the middle of lake michigan...many of your subscribers haven't heard of it,it could be a nice addition to your list of shows!
It would be very interesting to hear radio transmissions of soldiers in the field of their first reactions of not knowing what in the world they just came across. Seems like there were a ton of newly invented weapons in WW2 with equally “what the hell is that?” reactions.
There is a great video with radio transmission of a B-17 pilot asking "WTH was THAT?" when a Me 262 blasts through their formation. The final months were like a bad sci-fi for the Allies.
3:23 & 3:43, pity the crew didn't have a makeshift white flag to wave from the tank, seemed to be an honourable crew not wanting to needlessly destroy civilian infrastructure.
I saw the Sturmtiger in Munster. This thing is huuuuuge. The Sturmtiger alone, was well worth the trip. And they have much more interesting stuff there.
These would of been great besieging Leningrad or in Stalingrad not on the defensive The weapon is so cool. The fact the mortar is rocket propelled just makes this so much cooler. I'm surprised no modern army has a similar weapon for city fighting maybe with a turret, or even not, if it had a turret maybe a 275mm rocket propelled mortar. Put it on a Leopard 2, Abrams or even T-72/T-90. Make the front and top armour really thick, with anti-rpg screening , would be a great city fighting juggernaut. We do have the BMPT-72 Termintor tank tho in the Russian, Belorussian and other armies, apparently it's great against militants in Syria, much more effective at urban warfare than a t-72/t-90
Great videos - telling some of the untold stories of war. Your work deserves great praise for its presentation, high production values. You are a great story teller.
Quite unfortunate that two crew members died while dismounting given that the tank commander had taken the decision not to cause unnecessary damage to the area. I'm guessing that tank crews don't carry white flags on board.
You say that it was mounted on the hull of a Tiger I, but the pictures suggest it was a hull of a King Tiger. The tracks, the front and the rear of the hull are the design of the King Tiger.
Perfect video lengths for your subjects and you always pick something interesting to cover. Sort of reminds me of when the History Channel was good. Keep it up dude 👍
Even on a channel that has solid information like this one you still find several idiots commenting “first” like it means something. Anyway, love the channel, hope you stick with it, you will be one of the big ones.
Thank you Mark !! Your channel is one of the best history channel on RUclips if not the best . I try to spread the word . You deserve lot more subscriber . Keep up the good work . Cheers mate . Oh i have another suggestion . Heinrich Severloh : The beast of Omaha
Mark, beside the great quality of your videos, I am still highly impressed by your almost perfect pronounciation of German expressions. And would even go that far to assume that you have a multilingual background?
One small note: The German Tank Museum (Deutsches Panzermuseum) is located in the (small) city of Munster, not M*ü*nster! Although similar names, those two cities have nearly nothing in common and are 200km away from each other. :)
Great video mark. I’ve been to the panzer museum in Munster and its fantastic. Seeing this tank that you have talked about in the flash so to speak was amazing to say the least. Great history behind these machines. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers
You are right, I was about to write the same. On the other hand, though: It shows how good he is, when pronouncing the wrong town almost perfectly. That's a bonus, when in too many videos even the spelling is messed up (like confusing 'ei' and 'ie' etc.).
@@JeanLucCaptain Exactly...monastry towns, one is the old Gailic kingdom in Ireland...as in "It's a long way, to Tipperary" st Pat built monastries there but it's a chicken egg thing for the name..the other is in North West Germany and is definatly named from the word for monastary....monastic as with Monastir...etc.
I have always wanted to know more about the grenade launcher that the Sturmtigers had for self defense, but can not find good information on it. The " 100 mm grenade launcher (using SMi 35 leaping mines)." Did it just shoot "bouncing Bettie's" that detonated in the air?
Neat account. My applause also goes to the gentleman who created Stretton die cast models. His creations were and ARE absolutely brilliant, one of his Sturmtkgers I was lucky enough to be able to buy a few years hence.
wouldn’t have looked out of place with Hobart’s funnies developed for the D day landings but I suspect the sturmtiger carried more punch than the British flying dustbin - what do you think Mark ?
First! whenever i see your name under a new upload i dont hestitate for a single second! You can make anything interesting. Whenever any other channel uploads something similar i rarely view it. Your content is something different and i'm positive you'll grow much more over the next few months!
I still wonder if the heavy armor isnt completely useless when you have a 40cm hole in your front armor? And with a round loaded if its not even more vunerable since you probably just need to hit the round with an AT-Rifle to blow this thing into the void
Captain Eric Brown RN said he was shocked when they found the extent of German jet development at the end of the war, imagine if they'd had another year to get this sort of gear like Sturmtigers up and running in large numbers, along with jets. Little Boy and Fat Man delivery would have been essential.
And yet a British RAF jet flew in 1940! They had operational jets before the war ended but were not permitted to fly in case they were shot down and the planes (or their remains) were captured. Sounds kind of crazy but when you consider the allies had air superiority anyway, there wasn't a mad rush (or a need) to reveal new technology. It was probably more important at the time to keep the stuff out of Russian hands, and yet what happens? The UK govt goes and gives the Russians a Rolld Royce jet engine! That's why the MiGs were so superior in the early part of the Korean war.
A lot of BANG for their bucks with this baby! One heck of a whallup! Too little too late, thank goodness. Used in the right places, with ample supplies, this could easily have been a game changer!
FYI: most German tanks in Kubinka has been moved to the nearby Patriot Park, where they have new paint and far better surroundings. The picture in this video is old.
At last a documentary without inane rock music all the way through. Concise, informative and no drama. Thank you. Look forward to future videos.
I'm always amazed at the archival footage that you include in these videos.

Would not of liked to be on the receiving end of that, one monster of a weapon.
Check out the Vindicator Siege Tank. SciFi version of this 😎
The Chieftain would describe it as a "serious emotional event."
I'd love to drive one of these to work tomorrow and ask for a raise.
Promethean Ubermensch lol
And if not... there wouldnt be a building to work in afterwords anyways. If u know what i mean ;D!
When a KV-2 and Sturmtiger shells meet, all life will be deleted

@Rob Trubiano : Do a Google search for UC-97 in Lake Michigan. 🙂
@Rob Trubiano it was sunk as a target for the US navy, so it's literally IN the lake XD

I wish there was more combat footage of these tanks, they’re so cool looking.
your videos are incredibly informative and tell the stories that would otherwise probably never be told. please keep it up!
I certainly will! Thanks for the kind words
I saw the Sturmtiger in Munster. This thing is huuuuuge. The Sturmtiger alone, was well worth the trip. And they have much more interesting stuff there.
You forgot to mention that the gunner's escape point in case of fire is the barrel.

It has not been at Kubina tank museum since 2017.
It was moved down the road to Patriot Park. Different museum.
One of or the best History learning channel on YT. Thanks for that.
that footage of it firing is so cool i wish we had more videos like that from the war
Mark does a great job with his videos. Well detailed. Incredible real video footage and a voice for it. Thanks Mark.
Fascinating mini docs, very well put together. Thanks M Felton.
Thank you for watching
Another great video mark. Another similar Panzer to consider ( for a future video ) would be the Sturmpanzer aka Brummbär.
I'm looking into it

Wow. A frightening weapon. Great story. Thanks.
Thank you for saying where the remaining tanks are now, so I can see one on display in a museum.
Felton does do good work. He's to the point and accurate.
Excellent video Mark! Thank you. I love Sturmtigers and even built a small model of one.

Having served as an army officer I cannot imagine staring down the barrel of that mortar!
Today I learned something, thx Mark!
This thing was a beast! I didn’t know that it weighed the same as a king tiger! Wow thanks for sharing.
The more I think about it the bravery of the men on the losing side (who knew they were losing) amazes me
Always enjoy your videos
Good information

Your wonderful WWII videos have helped me understand the German's weapons more than anything else. Thanks!
MARK FELTON ROCKS !!!!
The German tankmuseum is in Munster not Münster. Nice movies.👍
Its a common mistake... and most people can't pronounce it differently.

I love using it in battlefield 5
Fun fact : each Sturmtiger had a different number of holes in the main gun’s barrel than the last one.
Neat account. My applause also goes to the gentleman who created Stretton die cast models. His creations were and ARE absolutely brilliant, one of his Sturmtkgers I was lucky enough to be able to buy a few years hence.
Tbh the second world War was such a good time for tanks because they were constantly being evolved and some rare and beautiful tanks were made
my favorite tank so far
Again you greatly expanded my knowledge of this rare tracked monster.
Holy moly Andy, couldn't even imagine what be like to be inside that turret when that thing fired.
Brilliant a proper well arrange presentation, most enjoyable.
Thanks a lot
That vehicle is one hell of a game changer.
wouldn’t have looked out of place with Hobart’s funnies developed for the D day landings but I suspect the sturmtiger carried more punch than the British flying dustbin - what do you think Mark ?
Pretty awsome. Would be neat to see the loading procedure
Fantastic as always.
Thanks
You have done it again, thanks!
Many thanks
Interesting if they would’ve been used in Stalingrad...
Thanks
One of the most interesting weapons the German's created.
I can't imagine the sound inside when that thing fired!
thanks
When you see their rockets explode....that is half what a depth charge does....as that was what it's launcher came from.
Holy moly what a beast.
Can we have this as a TD in world of tanks please.
Interesting slice of information there, well presented.
I didn't know the round from this tiger was rocket propelled, great video.
I bet that beast could rattle a few windows!
saw that one in the Munster museum in Germany, the shells and the barrel are ridiculously huge. Btw its parked next to a Tiger 2.
Awesome video! Love listetning about combat actions, thanx! :D
I didn't expect that - normally any in depth look at a German heavy makes it look stupid but I've now got a soft spot for this one.
Thanks. Seen a photo before & was always curious.
Super hyped for your videos!!!! Keep it up
Nice footage video thanks for...what strange not usually design 👍👍

That stubby gun looks like a pipe from a storm sewer.
I would like to watch a full length documentary done by you.
Perhaps one day - the one's I make at the moment take a fair amount of doing and I don't want to pad things out unnecessarily.

you make some great films mark.

Thanks
Excellent vids. thanks for sharing.
Thank you
I was always fascinated with this weapon as a kid , still am .
Nice. Thanks!
Thanks
Thanks. Nice as always.
The Germans really came up with some unique ideas.
Awesome video keep up the good work
