  • In 2022, the authorities of Mauritania, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal agreed to embark on a new phase in the Action Plan for the long-term conservation of the Mediterranean Monk Seal in the Eastern Atlantic: the creation of a network of new monk seal populations with animals from the Cabo Blanco peninsula, the only one in the world with the capacity to donate seals.
After developing methods to capture, handle, and transport these animals, we are now facing one of our biggest challenges: establishing the seals on open beaches in a new location. The site chosen for this is Cap Alzaz, in the heart of the Banc d'Arguin National Park, in #Mauritania.
