Wow! I caught these young ladies at the Filming Station in Nashville, part of the Americana Festival. They were fantastic! they blew me away! Hope they come through Memphis.
I would love to understand this song's message better. To me it is a masterpiece. Anyone have a link to an interview or discussion of it's themes? Or if Sav or one of the band could weigh in I would so love it. I know what it means to me. Some of the things in our lives we would like to be rid of are not there entirely by accident. But we look for comfort in food and drink and possessions regardless of how much we already have. And most people have no appreciation for the brevity or preciousness of our lives.
Chekhov’s gun is a dramatic principle where every element in a story introduced must be used. Therefore if there’s a gun in the scene, it will eventually fire at some point, otherwise what’s the point in having it there. I think that’s the gist of it. I believe Savannah wrote it about that and it turned out really cool.
