This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger is a excellent historical fiction with a big friendship theme! They are children/teens though, so it’s not adult friendship if that’s what you’re looking for.

For Nordic noir I’ve heard good things about these two authors: Yrsa Sigurdardottir and Jo Nesbo. (I haven’t read from them)
