I think that title belongs to Shriekback. They've been going for decades, the stuff they're releasing now is easily as awesome as what they did 35 years ago, but these days pretty much nobody knows about them. I'm not saying they're better than Sparks, but I'd definitely say they're more horribly underrated.
In fact Russell was 68. He's 3 years younger than Ron. Ron became 72 in August and Russell 69 in October. Well, that's what their passports and identity cards say. Maybe that's wrong, because both of them seem much younger. OK, especially Russell (sorry Ron, I really apologize, but that's because you both are very different.)

Bought my first Sparks record in 1973. Fantastic that, 50 years on, they're still producing ground-breaking music. Why are they not given more recognition, though.
Sparks were introduced to me by my first 'real' girlfriend. This triggers so many memories from forty-odd years ago. Thank you Linda, you will forever be in my heart.
growing up in Los Angeles as a kid, i got one of my first Jobs at Thrifty's drug store In Beverly Hills,(1981) working the ice cream stand, and so many famous people came into store .... Sparks RUSSELL , AND RONALD, Used to come in for French vanilla ice cream, and they were always dressed better than every one else, what stood out was Ronald would always have a simple sweater Tie And White Button Shirt, and he gave me a button that said Music on it, i became a musician/artist because of that........thanks Ron And Russell Mael , 2 artistic and Classy Brothers with style , vision , and showmanship, and that mansion in Beverly hills, were a big influence on me.
First time I heard of Sparks was on the King Biscuit Hour from the US in the 70's. They opened for The Kinks. I recorded it off the radio onto my reel to reel deck. Was blown away by Sparks! Sadly I know longer have that tape but so glad they're on RUclips!!
Saw them on the Hippo tour in Bristol. Totally superb. Backing band were very good indeed and the whole band show huge respect to the Maels own eclectic past. Bristol was a roar of happy energy. One of the best atmospheres I have felt at a any gig anywhere. No one left without having fantastic value for money and to be fair Ron & Russell came back on way after the encores and just thanked the audience for the vibe. So good to hear them do some of the new songs before the album was released at this concert so thanks for posting.
As a kid growing up in the 70s, whilst great tunes that resonated to a generation, I still thought of them as a bit of a novelty.......how wrong I was, wow!....just wow!
Wow....gonna see them for the first time live in Nottingham and can't wait. Saw them as a kid on Top of the Pops and went straight out and bought Kimono My House and then got everything since....a fan for around 45 years and for some reason never got to see em but finally now got tickets for a show.
I used to see them perform while I was stationed in Germany. They were unique and had a big following. I was one. I'm glad to view this because i didn't know they were still together. Here in the U.S they're unknown!
Wow! Thank you Mauricio so much for letting us enjoy like this! What a nostalgic feeling. The brothers and the band are at their best again with the new songs. Like the old masterpieces were. Can't wait for the new album!
well the sound and especially the video quality are actually quite high relative to other things that one gets on RUclips, so from that perspective this is a great addition. Thank you again!
Really good job, for some reason I had "This town" in my head today - I was only 9 when it was a hit, no doubt RUclips is one of the best things on the net. Thanks for the quality video and sound. I can't stand it when in this day and age people post videos that look like they were recorded on a potato.
Top class thanks very good video .thank you mauricio ,oh also thanks to sparks ive followed since this town in the 70s ,seen them a few times but would have liked to be there for this concert .
I love 'art rock' and without doubt my two favourite art rock bands of all time have not come from where you might assume they might come from. Sparks are from LA - we know that we are on their page. But hey, my other favourite art rock band must come from UK or Europe, right? No, rivalling Sparks as the KINGS of art rock goes to Auckland New Zealand. Split Enz were like no other band you ever saw. They have long disbanded - but sort of lived on with Crowded House. I am in awe that Sparks are still alive and composing great music. Split Enz were an amazing art rock band, but I am in awe that Sparks have kept this genre of rock music alive to now. Thanks Ron and Russell (you probably know Tim and Neil from the ENZ - haha)
Hi to all fellow Sparks fans, especially from in & around Glasgow! I just want to let you all know that we’ve just formed a Sparks tribute band & are putting a set of our favourite Sparks songs together to rehearse & gig in & around Glasgow & beyond if anyone asks us. We thought of many names to call the band & we’ve decided on Larks for 3 reasons: 1 - it rhymes with Sparks 2 - it’s going to be fun! 3 - it’s a play on Lanarkshire I would like to gauge what interest there may be from fellow Sparks fans for our project & to ask you if it’s something you would be willing to support when we start gigging, to hopefully know how many folks would want to attend & what venues to consider. I’ll also be posting this same message on other Sparks Glasgow 2023 videos posted on RUclips, so please share & comment so we can gauge interest in our Larks Sparks tribute, which will be totally live with real drums, guitar, bass, keyboards & vocals & will include many of our favourite Sparks hits & album tracks from the 1970s to 2023. Please let me know what songs you would love to hear us play & we may consider playing them, but there are so many great Sparks songs to play, we may not be able to do all of the requests we receive. Thanks for letting me post this message & I hope to see you at one of our gigs as soon as we’ve built up or set & got it perfect! Cheers for now! Jim, Larks drummer. ⚡️🥁 🎸🎹 🎸 🎤 ⚡️
The lead singer Russell is 68 and his brother Ron the keyboard player is 70, the Mael siblings have raged really well. They getter better in their performances with age I think ❤️
Anthony Rodemus you've not yet. Their official UK tour starts Monday. Depends on where you're situated but there's still a chance of getting tickets via secondhand websites etc.

Best music. MUST LOVE IT!

You’re not alone fella xxx
I like how he has changed the name of the manufacturer of the keyboard from Roland to Ronald. Great humour.
I look forward to The Monkees' Peter changing his own KORG logo to TORK.

When this concert was filmed, Ron Mael was 71 years old, and Russell was 69. When I'm that age, I want to be as young as they are.

Forever Young...
Ron is a unique and brilliant songwriter, and Russel is a hell of a singer. God bless Sparks.
He is but we age he doesn’t look so scary now As watching them back in the 70’s he makes the show with his looks 😂🇬🇧❤️
@unkapuk
That's why I call Ron the song writing genius and Russell the singing genius!
This is amazing, 43 years after their heyday, bouncing around the stage at 70 and still hitting the notes. respect.

Thanks for the set list, much appreciated.
I discovered Sparks very recently and I have to say I am in love now. Pure genius.
Class class act
I'm a metalhead mostly but Sparks are one of my absolute favorite musical acts. Sheer genius
Great Rock Vibes, their Sparks always shine on brightly...as two Angels brothers from Heaven do,Masters !...
I have no freakin' idea why this Band didn't get huge. They are the Gilbert and Sullivan of Rock! Awesome. Great musicianship, and fun as hell!

Legends.......No other words ? Absolutely stunning concert.
wonderful concert-thanks-the UK knows how to appreciate a great band-Russel and Ron never got the respect they deserve here in the US
Richard Schmidt I agree!!!
Richard Schmidt
You're from USA? That's very interesting, because your name is a typical German name.
This is a different universe.

... And I'm really glad that the new songs seem more rooted in their 70s style.
"When I'm with you" was my first buy from them... I was 12 yo. The are still great !
And so are you x
Great 'backing band' as always.
love it......loved it as a child in the 70s and still love it now.....so much fun
I still have the first album the sparks put out in the 70s. The music still hits the same today ❤
So nice to return to these guys after not hearing them for 10 years or so. They sound BETTER than they used to. Awesome show. Thanks so much.
2021 might have its ups and downs this year, but I’m really glad that I’ve discovered this band! 😁

It's so great seeing them have so much success again. Richly deserved.
I am glad I have a father who listens to great music like this!!!
Super back up band playing flawlessly and fitting every Sparks mood. Much fun to hear.
In just a few hours time my daughter and I will see Sparks for the first time, and it's her first gig ever.
The "Ronald" on the Synth is so Sparkish :-)
Would have loved to be at that show in Glasgow that night . The sound was amazing. One of my favorite bands and one of the best bands. ⭐
Truly the most fun, entertaining, genius, American musical icons my country has produced.
I used to see them perform while I was stationed in Germany. They were unique and had a big following. I was one. I'm glad to view this because i didn't know they were still together. Here in the U.S they're unknown!
I have ben a huge Sparks fan since "Kimono my House", and I was lucky enough to be at VEGA in Copenhagen 7. July. WOW, just loved it....
Fantastic New Music of Sparks !!! Thanks Mauricio .
You're welcome, Leszek!
They were unique then and remain timeless today. The songs and Russell's voice still hold up brilliantly. Long may they reign.
¡Qué maravilla1 Con unas voces y musicalización más profesional.

Another Great Sparks show. nothing like Ronald and Russell.

Parents of the backing band guys were hardly conceived, when Maels started releasing. Have R&R discovered a secret to immortality?
They certainly look good for their ages.
Saw them on this tour in NYC. Killer show. London Times called it one of 2017's 10 best. New album and tour just announce!
great - and great video and sound quality too! Thanks!
