I have the box Dave and I love it to death. If it were old style LPs I would have worn the needle out playing them. Thanks so much for spreading the good news about this overlooked treasure. Excellent talk I might add, especially setting the scene for Corelli as one of the titans of Baroque music.

Corelli was Thomas Jefferson's favorite composer, which is interesting because Jefferson lived a hundred years later!

I subscribed on RUclips to Brilliant Classics. Now I'm getting access to a monthly video (with excerpts) of Brilliant Classics newest releases. This is great stuff!

@@poturbg8698 Of course, you can use the RUclips search box to go back in time and find the Brilliant Classics monthly videos for past months. I have done that, and taken careful notes in a computer file, from which I will eventually select a number of CDs to buy, or more likely, stream. Note that Brilliant Classics definitely supports streaming.

Corelli can catch you off guard for how beautiful his music is. That’s been my experience. You play him and people go “that’s beautiful what is this?”

I’m curious about your opinion of Brilliant’s Frescobaldi box as well

I've always like Corelli's music. I played some of it in college in a chamber orchestra I was part of. Speaking of Corelli, I thought I'd throw out a video suggestion- with Christmas coming, it would be interesting if you did a video of some of the best classical music associated with Christmas. There's the usuals like Messiah, Nutcracker, A Ceremony of Carols, Christmas Oratorio, but what about some of the lesser known works. Example, (and one of my favorite choral works), Respighi's ' Laud to the Nativity' or Rimsky Korsakov's 'Christmas Eve', Vaughan Williams 'Hodie', Corelli's 'Christmas Concerto', the Poulenc 'Four Motets for Christmastime', and many others. Just a thought.

Dave, you need a t-shirt that says: wherever the tam tam goes i will go also. With the Classics Today logo in the middle of the tam tam of course.

I have the Brilliant Classics set of Tafelmusik by Telemann, in 4 excellent CDs performed by Pieter-Jan Belder and Musica Amphion. Recently I purchased the Vivaldi Edition by a myriad of performers, mostly suitable for the material if not the finest performances I've heard, and over my remaining lifetime I hope to hear all 66 CDs. I also have the Brilliant Classics set of Schubert String Quartets performed by the Diogenes Quartet, in 7 CDs that are just fine for the money. I do love the Corelli Concerti Grossi Opus 6 as performed by Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert from the 1980s, and perhaps I'll swing for the Brilliant collection just to have it all.

Speaking of generic tunes: Might I mention "La Monica" ("Une jeune fillette/pucelle"), which I find one of the most charming ones, with countless sets of variations by as many composers, and came into German hymnals as a contrafacture with the text "Von Gott will ich nicht lassen". That wonderful tune was abandoned some time in the 17th century. Pity.

Dave , I think it might be interesting for you to do a series on critics. Videos profiling- B.H. Haggin, Harris Goldsmith, David Hamilton, Martin Bookspan..etc. and exploring their lasting influence on listeners-if you think there is any.

Not so Brilliant on Tidal. Manages to just list all 336 movements…and not the pieces they comprise! 🤣
