Enemy Retreating - Undertale Yellow - 8 Bit Cover

I didn't expect to hear a new track as I got to the last few enemies in the geno route, but it was such a nice surprise. Enemy Retreating is one of my favourite tracks from Undertale Yellow, I especially love the "guitar solo". It serves as an establishing piece for the Enemy Retreating leitmotif, which is used in every other geno specific boss track. I really liked how this cover turned out, one of my favourite bits is the panning on the arpeggios.
This was definitely the most work I've put into the visuals for a video so far, it took more time than the music itself lol. Unlike the other UTY covers I've done so far, this track doesn't play for a specific boss, so I had to get a bit more creative than usual. I had the idea to have Clover dancing, surrounded by monsters getting dusted. I edited the game's dance animation, to have clover's face be like their geno sprite. I then modded the game, putting a blue background behind the enemies (so I could key them onto a different background, using blue instead of black so the black in enemy's sprites wouldn't be lost), and removing the HP bar and damage numbers. I then played though the entire geno route again, recording every enemy's death animation. I then had to make sure each enemy didn't have the attack aiming circles on top of them, which took a lot of cropping and cutting, especially for the last 4. Then I edited them together, over a backdrop of each area. I'm super happy with how it turned out.

Having no gun at all will make clover one shot every enemy, so clover using finger guns would be a disaster for the underground

There's actually 20 enemies shown for each area, which is the amount you need to kill to progress the route. Also, Sir Slither is the only enemy shown dying with their normal sprite instead of their damaged sprite, which is fitting since they're the only enemy after the ruins that's weak enough to die in one shot at the levels you'll be at in the no mercy route. The attention to detail is crazy!!!!!!

Fun fact, if you dont start genocide on dark ruins, theres no kill count in the next areas aside from the typical 5-6 kills per room, so you can actually have more exp in a Neutral run than a geno run by the time you reach axis

I read the description, that's a crazy amount of effort to put into the visuals and it really shows! I love your 8 bit covers. Just wondering, what plugin do you use in FL Studio?

Thanks, glad you liked it! I use the "magical8bitplug" VST for the drums, and FL Studio's built in "3x Osc" VST for pretty much everything else. I'll occasionally use other stuff, like I used the "DUTY CYCLE" patch in "The NES Soundfont" for the high pitch countermelody that starts at 0:16

@@EzioEagle21 thanks for the answer! I've just been using magical8bitplug and it sounds okay sometimes but I think I'll try 3x Osc to experiment some more. Still got a lot to learn as far as music composition goes but I'm practicing with making 8bit covers of video game tracks I like in the mean time
