You yanked what I thought would be an original thought right out from under me! My very *original comment* was going to be, "What do I have to do to get in one of these prison mustang trainer programs?" I'd rather not do the crime, so maybe I could just show up somewhere and confess to an unsolved crime? 😄
Ohhhh confessing to an unsolved crime is a good one! 😂🙌 even still, I bet those programs are hard to get into. What a bummer it’d be to confess and not get to go😂😂😂
@@TheProjectEquestrian Maybe just buy the outfit, get some temporary neck and face tatoos and sneak in? When I was lined up for the head count and they came up with one too many, I'd point to the guy next to me and say, "Well, I've never seen this guy before." (I wouldn't be lying.) "Is he supposed to be here?"
I'm looking forward to that interview. I'm 41 years old and have always loved horses, and still dream of having a life with them. I plan on taking riding lessons this year, and I don't care if it's with kids or what, I want to LEARN! Love your videos
4:40 🤣🤣🤣You made me laugh so hard - thank you for that! - having mustangs can be hard sometimes, but I did not have to go to prison to get involved with them - Thank God for that!!! What a relief! 🤣🤣🤣
I have been working and riding horses all my life. I feel I am now learning about horses and the ways they learn for the first time. It seems with horses they do not learn things and carry this to a new location or similar to a dog. Things also look different depending on if they are viewing it through one eye or two, so your approach can change everything. Sound, smell and hearing can also change. I recall with jumpers you can do a pass through your course before starting it or you could give your horse a chance to see and process the jumps.
They usually put the bridge last, and the horses can have a bit of time to get used to seeing all the obstacles before going over the hardest one. I feel like this not only put a lot of the competitors off to a bad start, but also they were less likely to go over it. The horses that did go over were truly amazing! 😍 Perhaps they were trying to make the pattern harder since this is the Magic, but I still think that was *really* difficult. 😅
Oh wow, bridge first is a BIG challenge! That’s often the stickiest obstacle in trail class, so having it first is definitely tough. I love watching the supportive horsemanship in these mustang shows- I so wish I could participate more than watching on RUclips! Thank you for sharing these videos from the event- someday I’ll be able to go IRL, but for now I’ll be watching every video ❤
That bridge was so interesting. Like it looked narrow, but also kind of tall? And the PINWHEEL oh god that was rough. I think Jessica and Waffles had the best approach for it, using the entirety of the railing to line up better. Editing to add: on the note of the bridge, I find it’s easier to approach when you loop back around and give them distance in front of them to be able to see it better. and try not to fidget/over correct. because that just leads to a dancey horse
Just a random obervation (not running a tally): Looks like a much higher percentage of big mustangs and those with lots o' color than the general lots that Britta has shown us in her auction videos. Is this because the accomplished trainers at the competion are the ones who can afford to bid high on the "flashier" horses at auction? Or do the "flashier" horses tend to score better at these competitions because they stand out?
Dior came in like 4 th or 5th. I think Sam VanFleet with her outstanding performance was given 3rd. And I didn’t know the reserve nor the grand champ because this was like two weeks ago
A requirement to compete would scare me right out of mustang adoption. Then again, somebody's gotta finish in last place. How I imagine that going... "Sir, at some point you're going to have to get in the saddle." Me: "You've gotta be kidding. Do you have any idea what it took just to get the saddle on? He looks so nice in his saddle. Why does it have to be more complicated than that?" 😄

Thank you for your coverage of this event! Wish we had similar series for Australian Brumbies

Congratulations waffles

Are you still in Ft. Worth? I’m possibly going to the rodeo tomorrow. I didn’t get to meet you last time.

Hi I have a question do you have to do like a mustang magic or mustang makeover or can you just train a mustang for yourself
No there are adoption programs so you dont have to compete:)

@@jimmyyounger618 Well if the saddle is still in one piece after that I think your halfway there. Lol.
@@TheProjectEquestrian thank you so much
They KNOW that first thing was a trap!
Looked like a trap to me! I'd be arguing for extra points for the horse being smart enough to see the trap and avoid it. 😉
@@jimmyyounger618 It's just the right size for a horse coffin, isn't it?
@@lazygardens I hadn't thought of that, but I bet the horses did. They're so much smarter than we give them credit for!
Your prison story! I get it. Glad you found out more.
