Osmosis Jones - Thrax's Entrance

- Thrax makes his first apperance in the 2001 animated movie, 'Osmosis Jones' about one white blood cell's fight against a deadly disease that threatens to kill their host, Frank.
Thrax is short for 'Anthrax', a lethal disease who's main symptom is a terrible, deadly fever. Despite those two strong similarities, Thrax shares no other similarities with the Anthrax disease and is in fact not an Anthrax virus, and is most likely a fictitous disease.
*The song Thrax is humming is called 'Fever'
*Thrax is voiced by Laurence Fishburne
Kid's flick or not, you have to admit: Thrax is one badass villain.
+SilverHairedFreak25 Very true.
+SilverHairedFreak25 Yep.
As if shows and movies "made for kids" weren't know for featuring badass villains.
Agreed
That he is
Always loved how he hums the song 'Fever' by Peggy Lee. It was a nice touch!
No it's fever by the cramps they made it first
If never for Archer, I wouldn't have recognized it
@@D4C413 "Fever" is a song written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell, who used the pseudonym John Davenport. It was originally recorded by American R&B singer Little Willie John for his debut album, Fever (1956)
I do love the cramps version tho
My theme is very similar to the same music when Thrax talks about some fatal illness and offers the germ thugs to be his henchmen.
THANK YOU. Been looking for that!
"Careful, I'm contagious."

Lawrence Fishburne is a legend, next to the OG Darth Vader James earl Jones.
Holy SPIT
Ow.
@@Jbaxter85 (thrax) I think I'll turn up the heat in here.
(thrax) I think I'll turn up the heat in here.
Careful, I'm contagious!
that is one of the best villain lines ever
Ow
@@Jbaxter85 huh 2 months neat
I think I'll turn on the heat in here
Everybody talks bout his design, charisma and how cool he is but nobody ever talks bout his soundtrack.. So badass, unsettling too..
Thrax: One of the few things that would make you eat more carefully as a kid.
***** You know, there are some bacteria on your hands you need. Natural bacteria. I think we should settle with just washing our hands instead of just using anti-bacterial sanitizer.
+GideonChannel Please, shut the hell up.
oy it's always something
and coronavirus.
It just hit me just how gory this whole film is. It's like the animators and writers were enjoying the fact that they could have charcters sliced up and splattered across the walls on screen, because they weren't humans or any other real life creatures, so they could get away with it. Awesome!
Ya gotta love the early 2000s. Kid films filled with blood, violence, adult jokes and cartoon characters getting melted alive in mere seconds. If this movie was released today, it would gotten a hardcore PG-13 rating or possibly an R-rating.
Then again, Spirited Away was released around the same year as this movie.
@@Beanie-Inkling2749 Spirited Away wasn't that bad. There was a lot of blood, I guess, and No-Face was freaky as hell, but there wasn't any death or really gory or traumatising scenes. Not like this movie, where Thrax frigging murders two cells in his intro scene.
@@tsnophaljakarax9963, I never said Spirited Away was bad. I actually love spirited away since I was 10 and was sometimes scared by the Chihiro’s parents transforming into pigs and No-Face eating the people who worked at the bathhouse. Still, spirited away, howl’s moving castle, Ponyo, castle in the sky, the cat returns and Princess Mononoke are still my favorite Studio Ghibli movies ever.
Gotta love real PG films
Well i couldnt call it gory cuz they werent any blood
Molecular fire, nice touch.
Putting the flame on inflammation
Drix later put it out
1:46 BRILLIANTLY accurate depiction of necrosis (unplanned cell death) the cell just kind of suddenly breaks down and explodes/disintegrates before apoptosis (planned cell death) is supposed to occur.
I'm a fan of Animation in general, and Thrax is definitely a Bad-Ass!
I bet future viewers will think this movie came out in 2020. Thrax's line, "Careful, I'm contagious." took on a whole new meaning.
Yes because as we know, the only contagious virus that’s ever existed or infected anyone, is Covid-19.
Does it hurt you to be this stupid?
@@sbraypaynt Well, I can't be THAT stupid if 50+ people agree with me.
@@Scavenger82 that’s adorable that you think 50 other people on planet Earth can’t be stupid.
“The KKK can’t be wrong or stupid because other people agreed with them”
as a kid, that scene was pretty hardcore
It's still a pretty dark scene. I mean he brutally liquidates that cell. If it was human size he would have caused a guy to burn in his skin. He is a pretty sadistic villain
This shit fucked me up for a week at least
I just noticed he's humming "Fever" at 1:53

A Family Picture!
+RetlocLive i don't know why but i enjoyed that scene the most. something about thrax's disease is awesome
+RetlocLive i bet you watched the review ?
Of course. ^_^
*****
you know i actually gave this movie a go and its really really funny idk what doug was talking about
If you watched their Real Thoughts video of Osmosis Jones, they actually don't think its that bad apart from the atrocious live-action parts.
When I saw Osmosis Jones for the first time, this scene impressed me. When I heard Laurence Fishburne’s voice, I’m like “That’s the dude from The Matrix franchise!” I’ve never seen any of the Matrix films, but this actor carries a ominous vibe voicing an animated villain. I was sold after the “Careful, I’m contagious” line.
if this isn't the most badass villain introduction, I DONT KNOW WHAT IS
I’d say he’s on par with Lord Shen from KFP 2.
In the time of COVID, Thrax, one of the most underrated and BEST animated villains, has become relevant and terrifying!
Think about this: Thrax is one of the most powerful villains in animation. There’s particularly something he has on his side: size. While he has the ability to make any victims he injects his lethal infection into with his finger, to heat up and blow up, and he makes sure he can hide, and he’s been killing his victims quicker as he goes on, size is his most perfect advantage. If you put him against the following villains, Darth Sidious, Rumpelstiltskin (Shrek forever after), maybe the peacock lord (Kung fu panda 2) (if he can infect animals), maybe Aku (samurai jack, he was sick in one episode from something), maybe Anti-Pops (regular show), Garrett Bobby Ferguson Sr. And Jr. (Regular show), Slade (teen titans (2003)), general mandible (Antz), Drago Bludvist (how to train your dragon 2), scar (the lion king (1994)), Agent trout (we bare bears: the movie), Joker (any incarnation), the shredder (any teenage mutant ninja turtles incarnation) Balthazar Bratt (despicable me 3), Syndrome (the incredibles), Shan-Yu (Mulan), Magneto (X-Men film series), maybe Zim, and maybe Thanos, he’d be a match for most of them, if not all of them, because the thing is, he’d be too small for them to notice without a microscope, and they’d be occupied with their own plans or something else in the beginning, they wouldn’t discover or notice he’s hiding or holding onto something, especially if they’re eating. And with that, he’d do his work infecting them, and they’d kick the bucket. Of course, Thrax is unable to infect villains like the minions of Set (samurai Jack) or the T-1000 (Terminator II: judgment day).
Awwww man! You cut out "They gotta turn up the heat in here!" That's one of my favorite Thrax lines, other than "Careful...I'm contagious." God I love villains!
***** Why thank you. :)
***** THE THIRST IS REAL.
I know this comment is a old as hell but I don't remember him ever saying that. I saw this movie as a kid on VHS and granted, it did scare the hell out of me so I actively avoided seeing it a second time (I remember running behind my friend's couch and waited for it to be over)
Same bro
@@chickencurry420 he did say that
Osmosis Jones: A movie that was clearly meant for an older audience, but was modified to make it look more like a kid's film. The end result was a very awkward story to watch with the family.
Seriously, no matter what way you look at it this was not meant for kids!!!
DeathofInk I can't say whether or not it would have fared better as a PG-13 film, but some of it, especially some live-action parts, is kind of weird to see in a family movie. I saw it as a kid and liked it though, especially the animated half.
+DeathofInk Ii thought the same sometimes Ii felt like the movie shifted to much like we got awesome dark villian scenes like this which was awesome then weird scenes with bogies and zits. wish they just picked to aim it at teens and keep the content more adult based, cos there was loads of sex innuendos in this film which i thought were hilarious but not good for kids
smartiegirl112
Exactly.
+DeathofInk oh yes, Disney is far more suitable for children. They show a guy getting hanged by a jungle reed implied by a not-at-all-scary-as-fuck-shadow, they show a gypsy girl bleeding on some stairs and a NOT fucking traumatizing tombstone in a story as simple as a princess kissing a frog. And just for the hell of it, they even show a guy trying to commit suicide. Yep, this show is certainly not for kids, but child-friendly is definitely no challenge for Disney.
+Th. Noatak No but there were some disney movies actually considering showing suicide
A *family* picture... That's gonna haunt the shit outta me!
Sometimes I hate my weakness for hot bad guys but damn Thrax is just hot
IKR
YES
i don't wanna admit it, but yeah. This guy makes me feel some type a way 😳
Thrax: The villain that made me VERY paranoid about eating food off the floor or off the plate at all.
Not me,I’ll eat stuff out of the garbage if it’s fresh enough!
Just don’t eat it off the bottom of a zoo chimpanzee habitat or you’ll get anthrax.
Perhaps Frank was *fated* to eat the egg, even though he did not know Thrax was inside it. Either way, it was bound to happen
His dreads are on lock though!
Probably one of the most badass and oddly sexy animated villains of all time.
True. Sexy, and sadistic at the same time. Thrax definitely has that gangster swagger.
@@jessicamcneill2463 DEFINITELY HE’S LIKE A MIX OF SEPHIROTH AND LADY DIMITRESCU
One of the best entrances for a villain.
Moral of the story: Eat healthier and wash your hands or Red Skull's brother will fuck you up.
Thrax- "Careful. I'm contagious. Ow." Oooo.I love how Lawrence Fishburne gives off swagger, awesomeness, and depth to this deadly, yet dashing villain
THIS FILM...! This film was my childhood. >o
Mine too!
Every time I hear about ebola, I think of Thrax. XD
I watched this back in the 10th grade I think
1:51 A FAMILY PICTURE!
This movie is so underrated it needs more attention. This scene was dark as hell.
His Claw is just to hot to touch, literally
I wonder what THE THING'S assimilation process looks like on an animated cellular level.
Something like in the Horror of Bikini Bottom comic.
"I think I've turned up the heat in here. 'evil laugh'"
"Careful I'm contagious" is now my new pick up line.
You uh, you might wanna rethink that.
I love the part of this scene! He metamorph out of his slimed residue like a cocoon.
1:40 Covid-19: Careful I'm contagious😈🔥
1:47 man that creeped the hell out of me when I was 8
This movie disturbed the hell out of me as a little kid lmao
Agreed and yet, people say Coraline is one of the scariest kids’ movies out there.
What a world!
Makes you wonder what the Plague would look like in this style.
Perhaps Nurgle himself considering the spread and mortality rate...
How about a "brain-eating amoeba"... 😅
A family picture
“Wash 🧼 your 🖐🏽 🤚🏽 hands”
I love this movie-the villain idea was cool
The animation for this movie is just too good. I miss the 2D cartoon movies.
That's the evil virus name Thrax voice by Laurence Fishburne in the Live Action/Animated film Osmosis Jones
When I was younger, I didn't know Thrax would be an interesting character, but now I do. And I'm only 13 years old. Jeez.
I did not know that he humming "fever" and I love thrax so cool
"Think I'll heat things up in here."
Here so you can skip to the good part 1:20
Pepic Walrus hey, cells vote man... cells vote.
Thorax kinda looks like predator
Thrax you made my childhood. I wanted to be you!!!
Thrax is one sexy, badass villain!
that dude's death shouldn't be in a kid's movie
fleaujunior's video center Go watch fucking Disney channel
Shut up pussy
Then watch Dora the Explorer or something.
Im sorry I thought I was watching a scene from Osmosis Jones and not from one of the Alien movies
God this movie traumatized me as a kid.
Laurence Fishburne voices Thrax!
Thrax's entrance is a legend in itself.
But...SERIOUSLY! !!!!!!!
What the heck was up with that DEATH?????
The Alien movies weren't even THAT disturbing! !!!!!!!
Osmosis Jones may be one of the most underatted animated movies of all. If so, then this movie needs more attention unlike those other films that are recently being released. I just focus on other films from back then than to right now
I saw this when I was a kid and this scene ESPECIALLY scared the fucking life out of me, when the cleaner starts bubbling up also terrified me, honestly watching it again it's just as bad as I remember, not too sure this was meant for kids really, but I enjoyed it anyway.
Thrax: Careful! I'm contagious!😈
Me: I'm scaroused...😳
And that, children...is why you need to be careful what you eat.
Finally a clip with the comments on.
HOT AS FUCK
AGREED
Thrax is officially my favorite antagonist
Drix: Sputnik-V 🇷🇺💉vs Thrax: Coronavirus 🇨🇳☣️
Nostalgia Critic: You're gonna love my to-to-toxic love!
Not even the same people, critic.
This scared the heck out of men when I saw this as a kid- I think I was about nine then. It's not as gruesome as a I remember but it's still not something I would show to a kid.
*Holy spit*
Thrax is Covid19.
Now I know what song he's humming. Fever.
This scene traumatized me for years!
Careful Maury, I'm Contagious.
Anybody else remember the ghost ship Demeter, the one Dracula rode in on to get to England? That's what this reminds me of.
They also gotta send a letter to the mayor about brushing, flossing and using mouthwash. I recall, you saw one of Frank's teeth with a cavity with a sign saying, "Danger: Open Cavity. Caution: Exposed Nerve." I'm also guessing Frank never sees a dentist as well as a doctor.
Alexander Edward Pytko I think its more like Frank should just avoid too much Soda and other sugary crap.
A Family picture that's gonna haunt the shit out of me
1:46 Scary Death EVER
Tanner Walton ouch!!!
What about Artie's?
Thrax, you are such a badass.
God this movie can be brutal of how Thrax kills people
And I’m here for it
Osmosis Jones movie is one of a kind for saving your time & thirst for comedy, adventure, & KNOWLEDGE!
This movie considered as the revolution intro to Edutaiment (Education & Entertainment).
My infinite thanks to Dennis Edwards, Robert Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, Zak Penn, Bradley Thomas, and Warner Bros. studios for letting me enjoying & learning the principles of health sciences and especially the lesson of the word of 'Hypothalamus' where it was lectured with a simple words by Thrax!
I liked how at 0:54 that even the little one eyes germ was confused of what’s going on
Best villain ever!
careful I am contagious
And that’s how Corona introduced it’s self to the world!
Yeah, Thrax's line "Careful, I'm contagious." took on a whole new meaning in 2020.
I love the flame effect they use in this movie. It looks like the stuff Thrax burns through is being broken down to the molecular level.
Warner Bros has some balls
I believe Lawrence Fishburne would eventually voice the narrator for the 2007 TMNT cg movie
*Careful. I’m contagious.*
Careful I'm contagious
Thrax is the enbodiment of anthrax
''careful I'm contagious.''
Thrax was the one good thing about this film.
Heck, it's no more nerdy than a lot of the stuff I come up with. :p And I actually did learn something new from reading our comments...I had no idea there were three types of Anthrax.
Well, I'm hoping you've been able to get into your host's brain to make it easier on you this last time around. x3
So that's how Thrax was born.
He already existed
Handsome devil...
If it's coming out of this slimed material then KirschHeels will go out to the mirror with his band of pirates on Everfree Forest.
Does Anthrax have a similar effect of spiking up your body temperature?
Loved this movie as a kid, but did find it very disturbing during many parts. I knew even then that it probably wasn't for kids :P
Cool fellas walk away from explosions & don't look back, lol
Its pretty funny, to me anyway, that Thrax is voiced by Lawrence Fishburne because people always tell me that my father resembles him.
If Thrax was in me then, what a lovely way to burn !
I remember this movie
I remember when bill Murray's character ate that 🥚 off the ground 😛 but good movie still
He's Small Pox because that was called The Red Death in the olden days.
