How does anyone do the things to his mind and body that David did and come back and remake such magic at this age? Impeccable vocals, phrasing and guitar playing. I’ve been consistently listening to “if only I could remember my name” for around 50 years and don’t intend stopping anytime soon, the Croz is alive and doing just fine in my world. RIP David Van Cortlandt Crosby.👍✌🏾
David Crosby is at his best when he writes, sings, & performs by himself. Such a strong powerful voice. Perfect pitch, always in key. An incredible high tenor range when needed. Great storyteller, images unfold thru the sounds of his music. This & so much more..... Vince James (Ajello)
You make good points. I loved David best when he sang with Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman and Gene Clark. He sang perfectly on pitch, with perfectly synced phrasing and deep emotion. His head voice was to die for, creamy. I'll go so far as to say the Byrds had the best vocals, even better than the Beatles. Gasp ;) Sure, no one beat the Beatles, but no one was doing the incredibly cool sounding harmonies David, McGuinn, Hillman and Clark were doing. Between McGuinn's ringing, compressed Rickinbacker 12 String and the perfectly balanced harmonies, no one equalled the Byrd's sound
He is one of the most personable and talented musicians of the last few decades. All he needs is a guitar, his voice and a stage - and the concert hall is full of music, warmth and joy.
I was privileged to see David Crosby in September 2019 at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO. He was the warm-up act for Jason Isbell. Somehow, despite the unhealthy appearance of David Crosby at altitude, I thought he would live forever, like his music. RIP, Mr. Crosby.
Eclettico, a volte incompreso o sottovalutato ma uno che ha dedicato la vita alla musica fino all'ultimo respiro... collaborazioni epocali e pezzi suoi che resteranno per sempre... One of the greatest rock artists of all time. I can't think of anyone more important than Croz. A true hippie. What a voice and he still has it. A voice that still is so distinctive and strong. Croz is deep, opinionated, introspective, revolutionary and authentic. He introduced The Beatles and so many on the West Coast to eastern music. He virtually invented acid folk. Was a member of some of the most important bands in history. Thanks for posing this.
Although I do regret that CSN are no longer touring, the evidence of the years since then is that David has enjoyed more creativity and brought us fine music we might not have heard otherwise and I am truly grateful for that.
When David came out with his first book I made my way down to the bookstore to get a signed copy the line was pretty long. Maybe 150 people or so since I'm in the music business I learned a long time ago that if you want to have a more relaxed meet and greet get at the end of the line so that when you finally meet the artist there's nobody behind you chafing at the bit. There's three or four people in front of me and the Croz starts to B.I.T.C.H. Not real bad - just sort of whining, "Hey man! I didn't sign up for this - my hands are cramping up!" Still he manages to sign a few more books and manages a smile. Now it's my turn and I step up to David and say, "Mr Crosby, can you help me please? I seem to have forgotten my glasses at home and I can't read this." And at that very moment I show him my AA medallion where it says Unity, Service, Recovery. He immediately bursts into the biggest grin I've ever seen! He stands up and stretches while repeating those three words quietly to himself over and over again. Meanwhile, his traveling companion laughs out loud, looks at me with a big grin and says, "David,, you have been busted..... So busted!" I introduced myself, first name only, then I flipped the coin over and ask David, "do you believe what the old-timers said? That a grateful heart never drinks or drugs?" Another big smile and he says "absolutely" "Let's recite the serenity prayer, and I'll take it out to my meeting, and if it's okay with you David I'll tell everybody you send your best wishes.... In fact if you guys want to go with me, I'd be honored. The two men thanked me and we shake hands all around. They tell me they got to go out to the airport but definitely give everybody their best. And then, spontaneously and without even thinking about it, the three of us intone: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. We walk out together in to the cool night air. David looks at me one last time and says, "we never know when our angels are going to show up.... And help us get back on the beam; Thanks, brother! Thanks for reminding me how truly lucky and how grateful I really should be!"

This in itself caused the ill-feelings between Nash and Stills at the time, and caused the temporary fraction in the band. Crosby, like the rest of the “celebrities”, need to stick to their craft, and keep their political opinions to themselves. We don’t care where you stand on politics. We’re not buying tickets, to hear your personal beliefs about anything.
Not fully agree on it. Its known David political opinions. And its known he is in the right to speak about it on his shows. If you dont like it and/or you dont want to run the risk to hear about it during his performances, don’t go to the show. If his political opinions are different from yours, well that’s nothing wrong to differ to each other in those terms. Try to enjoy his craft without being affected by his political thoughts. If you cannot, well, peace and face it. Asking someone to be stick to something is not... politically correct in my humble opinion.
If they don't speak up, then who will? Music was a huge reason why Vietnam ended. I'm a millennial and I say, the political comment and awareness is sorely lacking in today's music.
Thank you all for the Civil discourse. My first point referred to Biden halting the wall funding. What's the downside to knowing who's coming into our country. Sure some good people sure some bad people. we need to know. Just like we all need to know who's coming into our own private houses. Biden does not seem to be interested in protecting the little people out here. And oh yeah how about all those union jobs he just killed on the pipeline. So much for energy Independence.

Graham Nash is The Duke ("our dynamiter"), Neil Young is Young Billy, who has an almost psychic ability to predict trouble, and Crosby himself is Fat Albert, who becomes an interested and interesting bystander.
What happens when conservatives in the entertainment industry speak up?
@@billhoffman252 They'd get a stake driven through their hearts.......
That pendulum swung all the way around a long time ago.
I have long had a poster that says Talent is not Genius. Darlin, you can sing, but CALL NASH. We want the magic part. We want the genius. You wasted time. You are wasting time again. Call each other. Make up. Be friends.
He won’t call Nash , too busy feeling sorry for himself
@@sandtoy11510 David played that whole gig and didn't have to share a dime of it with Nash I say that makes him a smart man plus he don't need Graham Nash
The man has so much belief in himself it's incredible some of his material is so banal but he remembers it so convincingly that he actually believes in himself he's nothing without Nash and stills of course he wouldn't think that .....I think it's ego
