Boxrec is a great resource but i learned early on that their rankings are horrendous I disagree with you though fury’s resume is comparable to Usyks at heavyweight even with the lack of heavyweight fights and it does come close to AJs
Are you mad look at what usyk has done compared to fury. Tyson fury shouldn't even be in top 10 he cherry picks fights and ran from aj took a 3rd fight with washed up chisora fury is trash and wouldn't beat aj clearly you don't actually know boxing
I think if you go off recency you pick Usyk and if you go off overall heavyweight career Tysons more accomplished (which he should be with Fury being a heavyweight his whole career and Usyk only becoming one a few years ago).
Boxrec doesn't work like that. It's based on an algorithm that ranks based on the results in your last few fights and the ranking of the opponent at the time of the fight. Usyks last 3 were AJ twice and dubois, both top 10 ranked at the time if the fight, fury's last 3 had 1 top 10 ranked fighter, one who wasn't ranked at all, and the other wasn't in the top 20, so that's why fury is ranked below him. Also, I just checked the rankings, it's completely different from what you shared. Hrgovic, zhang, Anderson and sanchez are in there, ortiz, wilder and walin aren't in there.
The betting odds argument doesn't make sense. Fury didn't start as a betting favourite against Wladimir Klitschko when he fought him. Usyk didn't begin as a betting favourite against AJ when he fought him. I get what you're trying to get however, given greater context the point seems kind of silly.
I'd love to see your rankings. For me Fury hasn't done enough to be #1 lately. Zang definitely needs to be in top 10. 12 round loss were he dropped Parker twice. Shouldn't drop you down. A fit Andy Ruiz has a good chance of dropped all those guys but he doesn't fight enough.
You should see the P4P boxrec rankings if you think this is bad, they are actually criminal. If im not mistaken Chris Eubank Jr (whos never won a world title) is above USYK (undisputed cruiser weight and unified heavy weight) i mean how is that even possible?
Look up Johny Nelsosns interview with RadioRahim prior to Usyks fight against Belew. Nelson tells a story when he first saw Usyk. He saw him in sparing with Klichko back when he was preparing for the Fury fight. Usyk folded Klichko in two rounds forcing the champ to be escorted out of the gum threw the back door. Nelson said that „Usyk is good but i think he does not know how good he is”, „in all of his fights up to the Belew fight Usyk fights well within hos abilities, and when the lenny drops and he realises how good he is he will be unbeatable”. The thing is that Usyk never fights at 100 % of his ability by choice. He uses just enough skill to win the fight comftarbly. The man reads Sun Tsu’s „The art of War”. One of the rules in this book says - never show your opponent everything you are capable of keep him gueassing and let him think you are weak.
If you didn't know BoxRec announced a year or so ago maybe longer that the algorithms that calculate the rankings are corrupt. I can't remember the reason they gave but its done automatically by a computer algorithm not by a specific group of human opinion
Using the logic on who the hypothetical favourites are is a bit strange with Fury. Cause most people would think that Fury would absolutely beat Ngannou 👀. You can’t discredit Usyk and place it in Fury’s favour because he didnt beat AJ. Despite how much people thought he would.
Usyk has 4 belts Fury has 1. Usyk beat AJ twice back to back a man Fury refused to fight. Fury 27 was cought using PED to win on points againt Klichko who was 40 at the time. Fury never gave Klichko a remach despite having a remach clause in tbe contract. Fury is overhyped and tjis allows him to get away with all this ducking nonsence whilst being called the best of his era, best of his generation etc. He is a mediocre boxer that compensates what he lacks in skill with his size and cheeting that he gets away with because he has an entire industry working on blowing smoke up his ass. The man who holds more belts deserves to be higher on the list and the man who hass less belts should chase after the man who holds more belts. 1.Usyk, 2.Fury, 3.Hergovich, 4.AJ, 5 Parker, 6.Zhang, 7.Ruiz, 8-9WilderDubois.
the rankings are actually made by a kind of ELO system. Fury's best win is tainted, he tested positive for decca nandralone just around the time he fought Wladimir and Hammer, he never looked like that again. His victory is also lessened due to the fact he ran away from the rematch. Wilder was always a one trick pony who beat no one noteworthy, Fury's resume is paper thin, and his last performances have not been great, that's why Usyk is ahead of him he's looked better in his last fights and holds 3 out of the 4 major belts. Fury is right where he should be in that ranking.
Very hard to do an accurate top 10. This is where i rank everyone. Top 8 Fury Usyk Parker Joshua Hrgovic Zhang Kabayel Sanchez Best of the rest in any order. Wilder Ruiz Whyte Dubois Ortiz Joyce Bakole Hunter Chisora Franklin Pulev Miller Kuzmin Takam Wallin Prospects any order: Anderson Huni Ajagba Wardley Clarke Zakhoshyi Lerena Pero Kossobutskiy Sirenko Jalolov Ljungquist Makhmudov
2015 Klitscko Vs Usyk. Usyk wins. Fury’s fight was close and he never gave the man his rematch. Does Fury beat Dubois most likely. Can he beat Joshua 50/50. The fact is the crown is still up for grabs in my opinion as nothing is unified. Until fury and usyk unify we do not know who’s king of the castle. The outcome will decide. But fury and Usyk still have to defend the belts. Fight a few more fights take a few more scalps in order to be defined as something special. That’s legacy. That’s honour.
I don't think you can say its recency bias putting Usyk above Fury, just look at their last two fights. Usyk has gone AJ Dubois, Fury has gone Chisora (who he had already beaten twice, 10+ loses on his record) and an individual that was having his first ever boxing bout and took Fury to a split decision. IMO its only for so long you can go back to those Wilder and Klitschko fights, albeit tremendous wins. There is a case to be made that on form and currently Usyk is the number 1 in the division. He also holds more world titles currently, all will be revealed May 18th hopefully... good video
People had an excuse for favoring Fury a few years ago. Now we know more. We know Wilder is a protected champion and Fury's best wins go out the window. At the moment, Fury can be considered as unproven at the highest level.
Great content… Fury still number one in my book.. think he’s gonna be a too big for usyk… that list is a shambles, how they have Luis Ortiz in there in 2024 is beyond me
Boxrec has admitted that their rankings are glitchy; it uses an algorithm where the ratings are based on how often they are searched/their pages are accessed, and how recently they have fought seems to play a role, too. There's no board of boxrec employees deciding the order of the list; the computer produces the list based on boxrec user data. If we all got together by the thousands and kept searching Jerry Forrest and looking at his page, we would watch him climb the boxrec list very quickly. BTW, you're entirely wrong about Fury. He's been a pile of shit for years now; more than 2 years since a legit defense; 18 months since his bogus defense against a guy who was 33-12, who had lost 3 of his last 5, who wasn't ranked sufficiently for a voluntary defense until the WBC inflated his ranking AFTER Fury announced the fight.... Only recent fight was against a rookie, non-title fight he almost lost. The only reason Fury is hanging on to a high ranking at all is b/c he holds the WBC belt, and bc some ppl think he's the "lineal" champ. His CV sucks; his lack of title defenses is shockingly disgraceful, and he's a repeat offended drug cheat who has held onto his Zero mostly via avoidance.
Cannot really put the list together of these current top 10 heavyweights and use almost all old fights as reference. It's nice to hear a different take, than the Usyk number 1 take, but it doesn't make much scense.
Usyk is #1 because he holds 75% of the major World Heavyweight Championship belts. Fury holds 25%... and chose to fight a trilogy no one wanted to see, then a complete novice with whom he went life & death. Usyk is #1 because he actually fought to get Undisputed made, after everyone and their mother ducked it for 25 years. He's #1 because he actually behaves like a World Champion.
Having usyk as number 1 isn't a huge issue for me but i do agree with you having Tyson at 3 is very strange having wallin and Ortiz is crazy to me kabayel shouldn't be so high even though i rate him but he's not got enough good wins and Whyte shouldn't be there either maybe 18 months ago just because he's not fought for ages until recently and he lost before that but he's got a better reseme of wins but that's past hirgovic should be in the list
The boxrec rankings are made using an algorithm, which awards points for their fights over the last two years and the points for each fight deteriorate as time goes by. it’s a flawed system which throws out some weird rankings.
Subbed to alot of boxing channels and recently found your one and have to say after binge watching your old vids this is up there with the best boxing channels on youtube and agree with your knowledge of the sport too keep up the great content lad.
Why do people keep going back 10 years to when Fury beat Klitchko in one of the worst heavyweights fights of the last decade. It was 10 fucking years ago. It’s not relevant now and hasn’t been for years. Rankings should be dynamic and based on current and recent performance
You're takes are normally on the money but really what has fury done since the wilder fights to be considerred the top current heavy weight on the planet?
People act as if Klitschko came back from the dead to fight AJ!! Klitschko was fit from training for the Fury rematch which got postponed multiple times and eventually cancelled. AJ basically gave him the rematch Fury owed him for the Belts. Fury and AJ both deserve credit for their wins against Wladimar. You can argue about which one is more impressive all you want but you can't act as if Fury beat a prime Klitschko. They both beat him when he was on the way out.
My top 10 1: Oleksandr Usyk 2: Anthony Joshua 3: Joseph Parker 4: Tyson Fury 5: Zhilei Zhang 6: Agit Kabayel 7: Daniel Dubois 8: Martin Bakole 9: philp heravich 10: Otto Wallin
AJ's win against Wlad in my opinion was far better than Fury's. I know people disagree and claim it was a Fury masterclass and AJ went life and death (Fury's words being repeated). However I think Fury in reality sneaked a win in a dismal fight with very few punches thrown. AJ fought a better prepared Klitschko on the night who was on his toes and looked arguably the best he had looked in several years. AJ was very inexperienced and still dropped him multiple times before stopping him. He also climbed up off the canvas from a right hand that has KO'd over 50 other fighters. Fury is vastly overrated and mainly because of his Wilder trilogy.
As for Furys record. Despite having more „pro fights” most of his early fights were against bums. While Usyk has taken down champions in two divisions. Overall Usyk has over 350 fights while fury has about 70…If we compare torurnaments, titles, medals, trophies Usyk also beats Firy by a hudge margin. Last but most important argument that the Burger kind does not deserve 1 place is his character and reputation of a honorless coward, cheater and ducker and mafia money laundering tool. This self proclaimed goat has been avoiding Usyk for 2,5 years now, running like a coward looking for every little unfair advantage he can get to face a smaller, lighter, shorter man with a shorter reach…
Sorry, Joey. Those are rhetorical arguments. Usyk has the championships belts, the markers of status (God help us all) in contemporary boxing, thus, he's the automatic (titular) #1. All others are in rank order below him. Maybe Fury can take that ranking, mantle, after the 18th, we shall see.
You just said Ortiz was a genuine heavyweight danger man 10 years ago as a point against him - 10:03 - But then compare the AJ and Fury's fights with Klitschko - 7:21 - which were 9 and and 7 years ago but you said that as a point in fury's favour? Stay consistent! No love lost tho bro! I enjoy your content and your fights but I felt i had to call you out on that.
#5- and #6 make no sense Just so you know, Usyk is now the Ring Mag Champ. Fury is ranked 1 and AJ is 2. Also, Usyk holds 3 real belts, Fury one. Point being is out of all the current "titles/belts", Fury only holds 1. And I'm sorry, but Fury's performances against the opposition he has CHOSEN, is why his rankings have fallen in all factions except the WBC. And no I'm not a Fury hater. I hate to see it going this way for him, but he's doing it to himself.
If I had doubt of your fan boying Fury, this video once again convinces me further. How can you say that Usyk cannot be #1 because Fury beat a dominant Vlad almost 10 years ago. A champ that he didn't give a remarch to. Imagine Hasim refused to rematch Lennox, based on your logic, Hasim would be one of the greatest boxers of his era. Secondly, the ranking ain't just about history but also about current form. Usyk and AJ have shown better form in recent than Fury. Also, even though I agree Wilder should be ranked over Oriz, Wilder is 1-3 in the last four years, while Ortiz is 3-1 in the same period, but Wilder lost to better competition I would think. Anyways, in the updated rankings, Ortiz, Whyte, Otto, and Wilder are off top ten, but wilder was pushed further back to 21st.
The thing about heavy weight rankings is that they don't really mean anything. Deontay Wilder could put anyone on that list asleep but resumes skill sets he might not even be top ten
You can’t put Tyson fury at number 1 or above Usyk because he’s not even been in competitive fights for the last 3 or 4 years. You can’t be ranked the best when you don’t even fight. Usyk has been doing that so he deserves number 1.
So we're doing f rankings based on fights that happened 10 years ago now? Turn it in bud. AJ absolutely demolishes fury now, and Usyk will take fury apart over 12 rounds. There's no way this version of fury should be number 1. He's number 3. Usyk would best every single person on the list of people that Fury has beaten.
Boxrec have said themselves not to use the rankings because the criteria is unreliable and they are there to get the jist of who should be fighting who not a legitimate ranking system

Usyk AJ Fury Parker Zhang Wilder Ruiz Hargovic Dubious Sanchez is how I’d rank the top 10 heavyweights if you’d take out Ruiz cause of inactivity I’d put Joyce Kabayel or Anderson at the 10th spot
Good list. Maybe Sanchez might pip Dubious, otherwise pretty spot on.
Great content . Would like to see your top 10 heavyweight rankings
Another amazing video, Joey. Keep going, mate. Unless my stuff is glitching, it looks like they updated the heavyweight rankings again. They’re even worse now…
They should make a heavyweight Grand Prix Ultimate boxing 12 man tournament.💯🥊
AJ will win that
i don't understand how joey can have great takes to some of the weirdest takes at any given moment, with the aj wins alone usyks resume starches tysons, usyk actually defended the belt against a younger hungry lion in daniel tysons been handpicking for almost a decade
Genuinely. And citing Fury’s PED win over Vlad nearlt 10 years ago as proof? Wtf lmao
I’d definitely like to see your Top 10. Although you’d probably need 15 to rank all the relevant names
sad to see the cruserweight division and what usyk achieved there being completly aired like that
I definitely wanna see your top ten!
Fury would be on it 7 times at least
My Heavyweight Ranking's on May2th
1. Tyson Fury
2. Oleksandr Usyk
3. Anthony Joshua
4. Joseph Parker
5. Filip Hrgovic
6. Zhilei Zhang
7. Deontay Wilder
8. Frank Sanchez
9. Daniel Dubois
10. Martin Bakole
11. Jared Anderson
12. Joe Joyce
13. Agit Kabayel
14. Efe Ajagba
15. Fabio Wardley
Very good list. Nice one bro.
Would disagree with fury in every sense but other than that good list. Tyson’s resume really is not that amazing
that's a really dumb take.
Great video bro!
the reason why fury is ranked 3rd probably is because of his terrible resume and lack of title defences and poor performance against non boxers it all plays a factor even you and big jordie agreed usyk is no 1 AJ 2 and tyson fury 3 so why the crying and whinging joey knight
Even tho I disagree about the Fury stuff I've enjoyed listening to ur take.. I think everyone needs to listen to more opposing views (on everything, not just boxing), it's too easy to get into an echo chamber situation on RUclips, listening to the same opinions over and over, just confirming ur existing views and never hearing them challenged..
Liked.. Subbed.. Job's a good un!'
Boxrec is a great resource but i learned early on that their rankings are horrendous I disagree with you though fury’s resume is comparable to Usyks at heavyweight even with the lack of heavyweight fights and it does come close to AJs
Usyk
Joshua
Parker
Fury
Are you mad look at what usyk has done compared to fury. Tyson fury shouldn't even be in top 10 he cherry picks fights and ran from aj took a 3rd fight with washed up chisora fury is trash and wouldn't beat aj clearly you don't actually know boxing
Should go through some of the other divisions' rankings, they're a mess. Especially P4P 😂 also, video on the Canelo-Munguia presser possibly?
Seems like it was predicting the future especially since Fury now has lost to Usyk twice
How does yours have Ortiz at no.6? For me it shows him as no.17
If you didn't know BoxRec announced a year or so ago maybe longer that the algorithms that calculate the rankings are corrupt. I can't remember the reason they gave but its done automatically by a computer algorithm not by a specific group of human opinion
Disagree with you re Fury but respect to you for providing a reasonable explanation
I honestly believe that Ortiz is constantly shoved up the rankings so Deontay Wilder can have a credible win on his record
Great objective Video Sir👍
How is zheili zhang not in top 10 and wilder is
Not long to see who comes out on top, can't wait.
I back Barry Scott
the rankings are actually made by a kind of ELO system.

He also holds more world titles currently, all will be revealed May 18th hopefully... good video
Would love to see your personal top 10!
No problem with the top three, mainly due to frequency and quality of opponents. But where is Zhang?
People had an excuse for favoring Fury a few years ago. Now we know more. We know Wilder is a protected champion and Fury's best wins go out the window. At the moment, Fury can be considered as unproven at the highest level.
I like joey but what is this Tyson fury rimming with a cherry on top?
Isn't Boxrec based on the numbers? Pure math...
They’ve updated the rankings now. A bit more reasonable, me thinks.
Some have Usyk over Fury because Usyk's best win (AJ) has a better resume than Fury's (Wilder).
My top 10
1: Oleksandr Usyk
2: Anthony Joshua
3: Joseph Parker
4: Tyson Fury
5: Zhilei Zhang
6: Agit Kabayel
7: Daniel Dubois
8: Martin Bakole
9: philp heravich
10: Otto Wallin
1. Tyson
2. Usky
3. AJ
4. Parker
5. Zang
6. Wilder
7. DDD
8. Herbervic (spelling)
9. Dillian
Fury is vastly overrated and mainly because of his Wilder trilogy.
one thing i've taken away from this is, how bad a state is american heavyweight boxing in?
Fury's last performance likely figured in these rankings. Usyk got up to stop DD.
Gotta disagree with you ranking Fury at 1. His resume is nothing close to that of AJ or Usyk. Especially in recent years.
#5- and #6 make no sense
Just so you know, Usyk is now the Ring Mag Champ.
My opinion:

How I believe the top 40 of the division is.
Aj wouldn’t beat fury Jesus the bias these fury fan boys think he’s the greatest of all time he can’t do no wrong
Joe mate I can also say there is no one on furys resume that usyk wouldn't beat tbf. Everyone knows how the vlad and usyk sparring went.

Whats more ridiculous is AJ above Fury. Atleast Usyk has belts.
Ortiz, Wallin, and Whyte still being in the rankings is laughable. Especially when Hrgovic, Zhang, and Sanchez are not.
You cant seriously count Chisora 3 times and Wilder 3 times and say Furys beaten more top heavyweights.
Boxrec have said themselves not to use the rankings because the criteria is unreliable and they are there to get the jist of who should be fighting who not a legitimate ranking system
