+BluesTiger1000 Years ago, when in her prime, especially while listening to the very last vocal note of "Sylvan Song/ Dream of the Archer", I realized how much power she had in reserve even when "pinching off" that held note. With a few exceptions, the many blonde hair-band male vocalists, ( following Robt Plant as a model to success ), must have envied Ann. Most Males need to scream to hit those hi tenor notes. Yes Ann could scream, but she could SING those notes too, with ease. Most of the famous rock singers have they're own distinctive style, recognized and loved immediately by fans. (Whether they are great "singers" or not.) AC-DC, Scorpions, Z Z Top, Ozzy, Van Halen, The list is endlessI Admittedly, I have yet to hear a female get that testosterone driven, "down and dirty" sound guys can produce. But when it comes to "PIPES"??? It has been said that the most beautiful instrument ever heard on earth is the female voice. Ann had the range from sweet and delicate, to all the backup power of Hoover Dam. She still has those pipes, but not like when she was in her prime. And those Hair-Band Vocalists are old guys now too. LOL Cheers-Wayne
She can still sing just as well, and do all that stuff. Her voice has changed over time, and she has a lot more experience, knowledge and skills than she had at the beginning, so she knows how and when to do what she wants, and she always does a song a little different in concert, not too much, just a little, her voice has thickened up over time, but that just makes it more full sounding, without the slightly shrieky edge of the vocal notes, she once sometimes did. and their guitar tone is heavier now, than it was at the beginning, they progressed etc..she just lost a lot of weight last year, and it seems like she is really on a mission, going for it a lot now.
What I love about Heart doing covers of Zepplin is the fact that they don't change the style or sound at all, they love and respect the song the way it is and just love to rock them out!
+thegreatcarraway And at the same time it is different, if you know what I mean. I think what they nail is the spirit, the soul, the personality of Zeppelin.
+Train Monrovia They probably Loved ZEP, and considered themselves friends. They actually modeled themselves after the diversity of ZEP music. Let's see...ZEP touched on, Folk, Blues, Celtic, Scandinavian/ Viking, Old English traditional, mystical, Morrocan/ Algiers/ Zanzibar, and laid the ground work for Rock ballads and metal music. Big shoes to fill. Heart was a big strong branch straight off ZEP. Like ZEPs cute cousin.
Wayne Burnett Well put. But you could say the Beatles expanded into various genres as well. They had the advantage of having 3 singer-songwriters. But Zep lasted longer as a band, so it balances out.
Wayne Burnett Again, I think the Beatles were able to cover so much ground by the simple fact that they had 3 singer-songwriters. U2 was great, but in my opinion after Achtung Baby they went in decline (as far as artistry). I would say Radiohead is up there. The Eagles had multiple singer-songwriters but only really did 6 albums (plus a reunion album). I'm not a music historian so these are just impressions I have.
The ironic thing is, Heart has stayed together 40 years, and not had any long layoffs. They toured and recorded almost every year, since they started. None of these other bands, Zeppelin, the Beatles, etc..did that. So, they actually have more experience touring, recording, and all that, than any of these other bands that were, or are bigtime bands. Another thing is, a lot of these other bands have at least some songs that are easy to sing. Heart does not have any songs that are easy to sing, and make it sound good. I have seen a lot of gals at jam sessions, karaoke, a couple times, trying to sing some Heart songs, totally straining as hard as they could, it never seems to go very well.
Got to see them do this live in 1977, in fact it was their encore and they dedicated to Elvis. It was August 16, 1977 at Convention Hall, Asbury Park, NJ the day the King died.
This is some cool rare footage! I'm old enough to remember that Heart released this as an actual single. With Ann Wilson on vocals it was hard to screw up! Loved the little changes they came up with. Her a cappella thing at the end (badass) and the guitarist's little trill thingy he does when everyone stops.
Apartir de este concierto ANN WILSON empeso a comer los ricos chicharones, pollito con papas fritas etc etc.......pero igual la kiero mucho por sus hermosas canciones ...
Listen to the 1980 RnR version on the Bebe le Strange? tour. That guitar solo is a little longer and you're waiting for the 'bugle' and then it just hits you!
in the 70s in Md there was a band ZED with a woman lead singer just as good if not better i think her name was Sheery great band girl could rock out played at noas ark outside of taneytown and westminster Md . KIX played there also 70s and early 80s
that was the thing back in 82 though all the women cut their long hair and got the perms and then about two years later they got the super short cropped when jazzercise came around..
THERe YOU HAVE IT, THE BEST FEMALE ROCK SINGER.
Just listen to the best female rock vocalist ever...Love you Ann!
+BluesTiger1000 What do you mean female? No male can touch her vocal range.
She is the best rock vocalist.
+Wayne Burnett OK, got your point. Ann is one of the best, male or female. She is now what....65? But still rocks hard with Nancy.

They STILL can kick ass with this song 30 years later!! Wilson sisters FUCKING ROCK!!!! Look at them go!!!!!!!
One of the very few bands that have done a great cover of this classic Led Zeppelin masterpiece.
They don't write songs like this anymore.. Priceless
Always loved Ann.
SO GREAT!!
Pure fire! Ann really nails it!
Incredible vocals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got to see them do this live in 1977, in fact it was their encore and they dedicated to Elvis. It was August 16, 1977 at Convention Hall, Asbury Park, NJ the day the King died.
Howard Leese is outstanding on the guitar, the harmonics with a little echo. From 1.40 to 2.10, nothing but chills, very nice.
Piano, guitar, writing, solos, recently played with bad co, guys a machine
If there ever was a time when the voices of men and women can duplicate each other it's with this particular song.
This should give you an idea of how long this spectacular singer Ann Wilson has been doing covers of Led Zeppelin
The Goddess that is - ANN WILSON
This is some cool rare footage! I'm old enough to remember that Heart released this as an actual single. With Ann Wilson on vocals it was hard to screw up! Loved the little changes they came up with. Her a cappella thing at the end (badass) and the guitarist's little trill thingy he does when everyone stops.
certainement une des meilleures reprises de ce tiyte que j'ai entendu !

very nice, is that Howard Leese on lead guitar. he was badass.
john burger. Yep and yep.
The army muster tune by the guitarist at 2:02 is wonderful
Nice sells this in the world.
@arnebarnard....you are right...this was the time Denny Carmassi and Mark Andes were band members.
GREATEST HITS LIVE is the *best* version of this song...
Howard Leese and Nancy Wilson on guitar.....
@The096757 just right, great gig.
Apartir de este concierto ANN WILSON empeso a comer los ricos chicharones, pollito con papas fritas etc etc.......pero igual la kiero mucho por sus hermosas canciones ...
They respected the song the way it is and Howard Leese so cool on solo this song thought better than Page on stage, excuse me!!!!
anybody know where this is? I went to this concert in Hartford ct....john cougar meloncamp opened up....
still have my concert tshirt!
A M A Z I N G
Why's Nancy all hidden in the back there? She's half of Heart.
2:02 wow, Morning wake up army bugle call for the solo guitar twiddly bit, with pinch harmonics.....love it.
LOL And they've already failed. Their imaginary caliphate just got reclaimed by Syria
Listen to the 1980 RnR version on the Bebe le Strange? tour. That guitar solo is a little longer and you're waiting for the 'bugle' and then it just hits you!
イエーーーーーーーーーイ!!!!
Howard Leese was/is thier best lead, he should still be with them.
Roger Fisher says hello buddy lol
man, nancy just schooled everyone on the guitar!
Blake Wallace I love her energy... now you know she's not playing lead, right?
@@ernestogasulla7763 Great rhythm and plays lead on some songs..
me gusta
I wish I hadn't seen this. I will have nightmares about Ann Wilson from this video.
What, you don't remember the 1982-83 perm?
She gained a lot more weight later...
Joanie Loves Chachi?
Move over, Robert!
in the 70s in Md there was a band ZED with a woman lead singer just as good if not better i think her name was Sheery great band girl could rock out played at noas ark outside of taneytown and westminster Md . KIX played there also 70s and early 80s
Gotta love the jiggles
😍😍😍😍😍
Rockeras amorir
Jenny Piccolo?
Dana Carvey on guitar?
Why the hate on Jimmy?
Ann yNanci si son artistas no como britney o las demas perritas
pensé exactamente lo mismo... las chicas también pueden rockearla de puta madre!!!1
he sounded pretty on to me..
Little Led Zep.
Carmassi shouldn't be allowed to play Bonham tunes. Derosier is the only one who has the right feel and style.
Al Bundy. Guess that's why Jimmy Page picked Denny Carmassi to play with Coverdale/Page.
what other woman rocker can do Robert plant justice?????
No, Nancy is!
この頃のアンは、良かった。この後、あんなに太るとは…。
Beyonce who? 😚😚😚. Lol
Ann is...but not with the perm Lol
that was the thing back in 82 though all the women cut their long hair and got the perms and then about two years later they got the super short cropped when jazzercise came around..
Roger> every guitarist after him.
これ以上無い受け方するはず。
drummer couldnt be farther off..
delo1960. Really? After Heart Denny Carmassi played with Jimmy Page. Guess he'd disagree with you.
Much better version on "Greatest Hits/Live"....
This one SUCKS!!!!
no.
