I’ve notice that whenever Jamaican artists get signed to an American label, their sound and music changes and sometimes not for the better. These American labels cannot manage Jamaican artists. I don’t think they should have made this her debut song. Something light, colorful and danceable would have been a better choice. Also consider the season. It’s summer and people are going back outside. A fun, vibey song would have been a better look for her reintroduction. Take her song Lighter ft Tarrus Riley for example. Shen is a well rounded artist and have range. The label just have to find the right fit for her.
