It's still in the hunter gatherer times- hence, the period Amar chithra kadha set up in the song. Beyond that, you can see a lot of dwarfs and other 'different looking' people there. The kind of people Fellini would call 'Freaks'. There is a film directed by Fellini named Satyricon ( Very famous Italian movie). That medieval set up is inspired from that film also. Not just that film, it is also the Indian wild west. Wild west is a genre in the American cinema which is also known as Westerns. Clint Eastwood is one of the popular faces from that genre. Our own Sholay is a mix of three wild west films- Once upon a time in the west, Magnificient seven, a fistful of dollars. The villagers and set up in this song is also inspired from the set ambience of Sholay. For records, Ram gopal varma is a big fan of Sholay. And if you look at the sync singing of the song, not just humans but even animals sing- like the bakri sings "oh boo shaa". Lol. @@hareneishnadhar I think that was mainly because of his sound engineer, H Sridhar who died in 2008, unfortunately. His presence made such a huge impact that ARR's earlier tracks are unparalleled even today.

You compare Rahman’s works in the nineties and that of other Hindi music directors who produced the same formulaic stuff for every film … just realise how much of a phenom this man AR Rahman is! Also RGV for showing the stroke of genius to intro Rahman to Bollywood
Music is fine But the credit goes for The Mixing and Mastering Man H Sridhar who has an Amazing ears.Unfortunately he passed away due to Heart Attack few years back.

@@Audiovisual00 h sridhar is fine he is a genius but ar Rahman was an audio engineer himself so the way he approached his recording sessions and mixing n then mastering sessions were unique for that time...he himself agreed there were not any who could do that work ..so sridhar was of course helping him out but ar rahman knew exactly what he wanted
Not only at dancing, urmila has equally brilliant acting skills.... one shouldn't forget her performance in movies such as Kaun, Ek Hasina Thi and Bhoot.... just to name a few of her best performances

Media highly overrated madhuri n kajole for their dancing n acting abilities. But truth is that many other actresses of 90s had equal or better potential like manisha ,tabu, including urmila.beacause they didn't belong to any filmy camp.
Urmila is the most underrated actress of our generation. She is the Queen of the alternate niche bollywood.
It must have been such a treat at the theatres.. wide soothing drums and super melodic tune.. missing the olden ways of film music.

Just listen to the violin part. Fantastic. Another one from the same movie Oh sai yay is completely underrated.
