Loved that courageous little horse Concern. Few things in racing more exciting than a deep closer on the move. My favorite deep closers are Concern, Strike The Gold and '98 Belmont Stakes winner...who denied Real Quiet a Triple Crown by a nostril...Victory Gallop!
To this day, Concern is one of my all time favorite race horses, and always will be. I hope the best for his relative now racing - Riker. So sad to hear that he passed away, but his incredible Breeders' Cup win will never be forgotten. What a race!!!
This was very memorable for me as Concern was a son of Broad Brush and their trainer and owner were Marylanders as am I. This was an extremely talented 1994 field of horses, but it seems that only Tabasco Cat has made any significant impact on the breed. I believe Concern stands in OK. So nice to see this race again. BRIAN
Concern has to be my favorite closer. The way he would settle in at the back of the pack and then would make a cavalry charge for the finish line. A training friend of mine here in Oklahoma at that time had a filly that ran like that, her name was Last Doll. What great racing and what great horses did the 90s give us.
Always liked this horse. He had alot of heart, especially his effort in the Travers. Reminds me of another horse named Mecke who ended up a better grass horse. Watch Mecke run in the 95 derby. It's probably my favorite 5th place finish ever. Nothing spectacular, just a nice late (to late) run. While i'm rambling, i wanna give a shout out to one of my favorite top 5 horses, Kiris Clown.

Whenever I see a horse like Mine That Bird win or this year Calidoscopio in the Belmont marathon win from way back I always think of Concern who came from wayyyyy back in the Arkansas Derby and I had a love affair with him ever since.
I remember Fara's Team, also. Very neat filly! (Didn't she win the Test Stakes?) Concern was a very well bred horse. Too bad that his genes are not seemingly exciting to the breed so far.
Jeff Lucas ask who who was it that beat them for the second year in a row at The Wire Jerry Bailey again and the following year in 95 Billy runs down the Lucas Phillies golden attraction in car Rafael and Jeff wanted to know who was again obviously you could see I have it strong disdain for the Lucas horses!!!!

I Love closers too, although the tracks today seem to be favoring speed more and more.

Memorable for me too because I was his dam's (Fara's Team) groom. I screamed so much, I lost my voice!

R.I.P. Concern who died today, March 27, 2015. :( He was 25 years old.
It was nice for Concern to win this race!! If Holy Bull had been there.. man o man.. wonder how it would have panned out!
Holy Bull was tired after a long campaign and needed a rest. Concern was the best on this day!
Whenever I see a horse like Mine That Bird win or this year Calidoscopio in the Belmont marathon win from way back I always think of Concern who came from wayyyyy back in the Arkansas Derby and I had a love affair with him ever since.
Let's hope that Include can carry on the Domino line for Broad Brush.
No body
And
I mean nobody
Is better than Tom Durkin
Yes, Fara did win the Test in 1988. I'm sorry that Concern didn't turn out to be a better sire too - could have kept the Domino line going.
I remember Fara's Team, also. Very neat filly! (Didn't she win the Test Stakes?) Concern was a very well bred horse. Too bad that his genes are not seemingly exciting to the breed so far.
and I've been in this game for 45 years and I've never seen a greater race that broad brush winning the 1986 Pennsylvania Derby watch it!!!!
Holy hell

I believe the time you speak of was Jeff was trying to recover from being throw off a horse and smashing his head on the ground. He wasn't all there.
@@thomasblue6064 he wasn't thrown off a horse, he was run over by Tabasco Cat after he had gotten loose
Where's Holy Bull?
Tired and not nominated for the Breeders cup. He woulda won easily!
