    When things don't go to plan is when life gets more interesting, you can experience things you might have missed or thought you might never enjoy. Great video as always.

      WIse words indeed, when I've looked back at this on the proof watch, I realised how much fun I ended up having, just because I adapted. Thanks for watching! 😁

    Lovely sir , ive had two changes of plans after visiting that pub 😀 on my very first bike packing adventure with my pal at the ripe old age of 14 something like 34 yrs ago now we rode from Todmorden pitched our tents up then made our way to the pub to get some food !
    We bumped into some friends of my dads who was staying there ! They introduced us too the delights of real ale 🍺 anyway after falling off bicycles at least 10 times before leaving the carpark in huge fits of laughter turned a bit for the worst after tent spins and vomiting with no zip to escape was found ! We didn't cycle far that day and infact made a sos call for a lift home boo !
    And im almost sure many years later that pub use to do mini music festivals , which ended up in joining some adrenaline junkies for a midnight bridge swinging off Ribblehead viaduct only to get got by the transport police after some railway workers dobbed us in ha x

      Thank you! Pubs have a funny way of changing your plans eh?! What a coincidence that you bumped into your dads friends! Real ale and riding bikes is great fun, but I can't imagine being sick in a tent would have been that much fun. Sounds like you had a great start to bike packing, if not a little boisterous, hehe! Thanks for watching ✌🏼

    Part of me wants to cycle these roads so much...they're so beautiful. The other part of me notices just how rainy and cold they look. I guess it's the price you pay to live life to the full. Hats off to you Allen.

      They really were nice to cycle on. I’ve done my time on a road bike and only ridden a couple of what I rode on this trip. Thanks for watching!

    I've bored you before (or maybe Barry) about my great great grandfather being maintenance engineer on the Viaduct after its opening but also my great grandmother was a barmaid in the Station Inn at the same time.
    Nowt to do with me but that small corner of Yorkshire is always in my heart.
    PS My brand new Bolt V2 has gone walkabout in the past but since updates seems OK.

    Great video, its always been a good pub that! Im plucking up the courage to do a multi-day tour myself this year. A dull question but when you're own your own what do you do with the bike and all your gear, like while you're in the pub? Leave it all outside and hope for the best?

    What chain lube do you use? Thanks

    • @AllenBoardman
      @AllenBoardman  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! In this video I used some wet lube. This was because I’d ran out of my normal lube which is Smoove LubeI - I’ve since bought more and it’s been delivered this week. It’s really good actually, seams to last a long time if installed correctly.

    • @ragleytrigadventures7422
      @ragleytrigadventures7422 9 месяцев назад

      Yeah. Same here. However I’ve developed quite a bad tooth wear on my grx 1by chainring 🙄 possibly due to dryish running conditions. Therefore I’ve been considering swapping for some oily lube

    • @AllenBoardman
      @AllenBoardman  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ragleytrigadventures7422 Smoove was hard to purchase as their UK distributor went kaput, but I’ve used that for a lot of long stuff. If you use their chin degreaser and install on every link the day before you ride - it lasts ages. You still need to reapply occasionally.

    • @ragleytrigadventures7422
      @ragleytrigadventures7422 9 месяцев назад

      @@AllenBoardmanI stripped my chain with three washes using petroleum, degreaser and methylated spirit at the end so the chain was spotless before applying smoove. Where I ride (hilly) I mainly use biggest cogs so the chain is constantly bent to the max which I suspect causes heavy hainring wear on the outside. I invested in wolftooth 38t oval chainring and developed same issue after a while ☹️

    • @AllenBoardman
      @AllenBoardman  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ragleytrigadventures7422 ah no! I think maybe stuff doesn’t last quite as long as it used to :( until recently I had Box Prime 9 speed, but I switched to SRAM whilst I’m waiting for the new box stuff to come out. Thinner chains + mud = sad times.
