- NATO Forces First Look: Battlefront will join us on Tuesday 12th September 2023 to talk about NATO Forces for WWIII: Team Yankee. Join us LIVE to get a first look at what's coming and when. Plus you'll have a chance to pose questions directly to the designers and creators of the game.
The stream is also a special day and time. Tuesday 12th September at 6AM AWST - that's 11pm Monday night in the UK and earlier evening Monday night for the US.
NATO Forces updates the lists for French, Dutch, Canadian and ANZAC forces from Free Nations - and adds Belgium to the roster! There's a ton of updates and new kits. Find out what's in the release waves.
You won't want to miss this one. See you there!
I wish the French got access to the Foreign Legion / paras. Thanks for the talk!
Would be nice
me too!
That would be a fun unit to have. Hopefully Battlefront is reading the comments… ;-)
Maybe for the next revison of the books.
Great show. Love how Battlefront engage with their audience.
They do seem to have a good strategy for thus going forward. I’m happy to be involved.
thank you for Info on this Nations set, So can get Michael D. Edwards, Jr. team as in Iceland book as well USMC
Have you checked if it is legal to mix Red Storm Rising and Team Yankee? ;-)
You go to the right direction !
Thanks you!
Thanks for the video! I am pretty excited for the ANZACs and the Belgians. As for a southern front I would love to see the Turks and the Greeks.
They would be good. Not sure they're a priority for BF though! :-)
Love this video!
Thanks Brian. Glad you enjoyed it.
Pre ordered all the new french in my local store, quite happy with all this news !
Glad you enjoyed it!
So, i don't know, if that is just me, but i really dislike the "temporary" starter forces. The "normal" boxes had quite considerable savings, the French and Swedish force have no extra value, except unit cards, decals and a rulebook.
Argueably 3 S-Tank boxes + 1 Pvpjtgb box will be the better buy, since the helicopters for Sweden are not really a good choice (subjectively). For some reason the 8 S tanks really bother me, since i would always try to get 3 in the command platoon.
The composition of the French box is still odd, 3 Leclercs in a Leclerc company... , i'll just say the naming is off, but at least i can live with the numbers and units, but like the Swedish box, the value is pretty much the same as the cost of the "individual" models. (upside, at least everything is plastic)
I just wished BF would have added 1 or 2 models per box or maybe have a slightly lower retail price.
Smells like GW marketing and not a great look for BF. They can keep the FOMO.
The value of the starter sets does seem less than it was previously. I can see the economic reasons for BF making the starter sets limited run. I’m guessing these sell well initially and then die down to a low but steady sale rate. I think I’ve mentioned BF are trying to keep the number of box sets they offer down to manage inventory levels for stores. Their strategy seems to be to offer the starter sets initially, then rely on the platoon boxes from then on.

I wont argue BF on a limited run, they know the numbers and will be knowing, what they are doing. My disappointment is more due to the (subjectively) questionable value. BF might have found a more realistic price for the boxes, which is fair.
The previous version 2 army boxes worked, like the T-80 or T-72 company were about 60% of the price of the individual models, which was and is a great value, even if you would not need every single model. Now both the S-Tank and the Leclerc company are 90% of the individual model. Problem now is, unless you need absolutely every single model, the box is not worth considering and only something to attract a "real" starter of the hobby.
The idea of playing 150pts game with the monster tanks sounds amazing! But when you can get 3 platoons plus an HQ of leo1's for the same cost of 2 leo2a5's... it will never happen. Which is a shame
It is a challenge...
I'm very interested in the backdoor upgrading of the other mainline NATO nations in this book with the dragon 2 and Milan 2 missiles.
Personally I've found that Britain kind of suffered from being the first faction to be updated because they feel far closer to Falklands war tech with a challenger and warrior tacked on than true gulf War tech since they didn't get the LAW 80, javelin AA, and other support options they had.
Yeah. I haven't had a chance to play with the new missiles. Opinions are split, but Milan had suffered against the latest super tanks in the game. Nice to have a chance again for my infantry to defend themselves.
Just a question for battlefield is why is the lord strathconas horse a mech infantry company when that is a tank regiment it would’ve been better to have that unit be the princess Patricia light infantry who are the western Canada reg force infantry unit
Dang - I wish you'd been able to ask that during the stream!
I wonder if we will ever get UH-60's
That would be nice…
I am a little sad that the AMX-30B2 BRENUS wasn't part of the French update.
It would have been an interesting upgrade. They'd have had to do an upgrade sprue like they did with the T-72 to pull that off.
4:32 I’m happy that the Team Yankee community has enough common sense to not leak classified documents, unlike some other people!
I'd totally leak stuff, but everything I know is so out of date it has all been declassed by now. No use leaking Public Domain secrets... :-)
I dont understand why the Australia force has their Abrams and ASLAVs 10-20yrs early.
The book rationale is that the LAVs were acquired to replace losses to M113 Cavalry Squadrons in earlier fighting. The same thing goes for M1A1s. They are leased from the US. You can’t take a company of M1A1s. They just make up the numbers in Leopard squadrons.
Started building my Swedish Army. A thought on nation specific dice. Why dont Battlefront do a set with the NATO badge on rather than individual flags. That would cover most Nordic and Nato forces that wont get a nation specific dice.
People can be pretty partisan about their specific nation, but NATO dice might be a good idea. We use Dice of War for custom dice here.
Do they do Swedish?
Nice video.
Imo it would have been nicer if they finished the Dutch faction instead of introducing Belgium with units filling their ranks that they did not have.
I’m not an expert on the Netherlands forces. What would you want to see added to the Dutch in the game?
Don't forget my poor Israelis. Sure could use a Merkava 3 with 120 mm gun. My 105s aren't cutting it.
Yes. Maybe they’ll update OilWars at some point as well.
Any info on the Leclerc's stats? Sounded like maybe front armor 22?
I am sworn to secrecy, but your guess might turn out to be pretty right, I think.
Sounded like they said the models will be metal? does this mean Team Yankee is moving away for putting everything into plastic?
i think a lot of the infantry is in resin metal, but most of the core units are plastic
The Leclerc is plastic. All the rest, like the Grizzlies and Cougars, the VBL and the Iltis are all resin and metal.
It seems BF has lost the plot a bit. Metal infantry that look like they have been hit by a flame thrower, and way too much resin/metal kits in these new armies.
@@adambrooker5649 I was going to start a Canadian army but not now.
Needed nations
Romania
Bulgaria
Then the next big expansion
China/NK vs SK/Japan
Then India/Pakistan
These are all interesting suggestions, but I'm guessing they might not be big money-winners for Battlefront. I'd love to see China.
The lack of plastic kits makes me less interested in starting a new army. Not a fan or resin/metal kits.
I like plastic, but I’m keen to look at the Grizzly and the Cougar for the Canadians. Plus the Iltis and VBLs in resin will be fine. They look like fun. There’s lots of stuff for my Aussies. Should I add some M1s?
@@FogofWar Why Not?
@@FogofWar IPM1 seems to be the best of the bunch.
@@Subcomandante73It's a game changer for ANZAC, suddenly you don't need hordes of Leopard 1s.
