I don't think this performance is meant to be "pretty." It's haunting. It's a song with themes rooted in despair and sorrow. 'I'm a creep...' is a confession made worse due to its partial truth. I think the dreariness in this version is 100% intentional. This cover approached the song's message at a different angle instead of replicating Radiohead's noise and anger. For the record, I still like the original better.
