I think theres a misunderstanding you guys might have about Tanjiro. He can smell more than just demon blood and humans. He has an unnatural ability to smell EVERYTHING. So when he picked an ore it was simply based on a smell that stood out to his senses.

Yeah, the way Tanjiro views demons is more like a sickness. He knows that he needs to get rid of them to save others, but he's remorseful and allows them a shred of kindness before they go.
Right. Exactly. I described it as a curse, but, disease is just as accurate.
@@SusanaCanales1 sorry for being one year late, but I view Tanjiro’s compassion for a dying demon as similar to palliative care. He wants their deaths to be as painless as possible when they exit one life to entering the next one.
In Japanese, the sound of "nezu" also means "not sleep".
Nezuko couldn't sleep enough for hard working for her family but now becoming demon made her sleep well.
I would not be suprised if her parents named her nezuko for that reason. As a baby its possible she would sleep all the time maybe more than normal
I always love that almost every reactor is like, “this guy needs to die! Good! He’s dead” and then his background part happens and they’re sad for him and/or start crying.
That’s why I love what they do with this anime. That they emphasize how horrible demons can be, but also, remind us that they were once human with ordinary and happy (usually) lives and that they didn’t choose or want to be demons. But I doubt most of them can actually fight their nature. The ones we see up to this point, apart from Nezuko, are essentially feral.
That’s probably why Tanjiro shows empathy to them. Because he knows what they are and won’t hesitate to kill them, but, he also acknowledges what they were before, because his sister is exactly like that. Humans who were cursed to become demons. Like with Nezuko and this demon, I doubt they even remember their human lives.
Tanjiro and Deku are my favorite MCs. We stan kind and sensitive main characters!!

Every demon has a human soul trapped within suffering its own torment. This one only ever wanted to be able to hold his brothers hand again, this twisted him into the many hand demon to symbolise his own torment
just bare with people saying cant wait ep. 19. ignore them and enjoy series episode by episode. the build up is worth it

As someone said before, just ignore the people saying "can't wait to see you reacting to 16, 19, 24 episode". Just enjoy the whole anime, it's a very good one. Oh, and I think you should skip the opening, it spoils you a little bit.

I cry a ton in this anime, don't feel bad, the writing, acting, music and anime do a good job drawing out your emotions.
I didn't expect them to give the demons such sad backstories liiiike...i was in tears more than i anticipated watching this series lol
Goes to show why we can't just assume their pure evil from the start, (even though some definitely are). Sometimes the things that happened in there lives just made them this way.

It pisses me off, like why don’t they understand that doing that ruins the hype because you’ll go in with high expectations. Like I know most likely that episode will meet them but that’s spoiling the action.

My point was that Tanjiro has a very sensitive sense of smell. And that sense of smell is not limited to JUST blood and people. Because that is how smell works. The sense of smell as a concept can detect anything that gives off a scent. The only question is to what degree of sensitivity a creature or person has.
@@KurNorock But the issue with the 'that's how smell works' argument is that half of Tanjiro's ability just isn't how smell works. Though yes, I see what you mean - there's no reason to think his sense of smell should be limited in any sense, especially given that it seems to be superior to a normal human's in every way, so he should at the least be able to smell everything we can smell. You could make a 'trade-off' argument tho, i.e. he can smell some things really well, but others really poorly though I'm fairly sure that isn't the case.

@@TheReactPack btw, the purpose of that scene with the Demon running to his brother who was holding a lamp was to show his brother guiding him to the afterlife, it wasn't a flashback, now excuse me while I cry again

I just recommend when watching it to pay attention because everything is important and means something. But besides that I hope y’all are staying safe and continue to enjoy the show.
