Excellent video. Finally a prop video with a slow shutter speed, so the props appear as a blur like they do to the eye, none of this high speed strobe/static appearance.
Absolutely! Nothing worse than to see a Connie or any prop aircraft with stationary or bending props while taking off or in flight. So annoying. Props to this photographer!
Loved it! Just for a moment, it took me back to my days as a USAF C-130 crew member. Part of my duties were to be a "scanner" so I was outside the aircraft talking to the A/C while monitoring engine start. Loved that sound!!!
I lived in Innsbruck Austria for many years and this was the only commercial aircraft rated to land and take off there. I always loved watching first time passengers coming into Innsbruck sideways! Beautiful aircraft and great pilots working for Austrian Air!
Two things in this world get me excited. The scent of french perfume, and the scent of jet-fuel! Couple the latter with the growl of twin turboprops and I have reached Nirvana! Great video! Thank you☺️
My most favorite among the current-production turboprops, aside from the Airbus A400M. These Q400's totally ROCK, and I wish I had the money to buy one of them as my own private airplane.
I used to fly with this plane 4 times a year, between Klagenfurt and Vienna, every time that I was traveling to Sweden, because my mom was swedish so we went there twice a year.
I agree, most people never capture that rich low hum from turbo props because the shots are far away. You always get the airy, jet noise as the wind carries the sound. But even during takeoff, it feels like I'm there due to your sound quality.
San Antonio do y’all need a complete answer to everything? Yes it costs a lot of money, up to $100k for all the ratings, or just commercial and CFI2 about $75k depending on location and school. You obtain hours by flight instructing(preferred) or doing odd jobs like crop dusting or banner flying. Most regionals like a 2 year degree in anything and most major airlines like to see a 4 year degree, which can be in anything. Pilot sciences or equivalent is often preferred, and qualified schools who teach it, you can save on your hours by 500 hours, making it 1000 required
can somebody explain what exactly is happening from 1:54 onwards? i suppose it's the props being unfeathered. is this called high idle then? what is the rpm difference between those states? i don't know why this process is so interesting but damn, there's something about it ... gotta love turboprops
Its predessor DHC-7 was developed by a Canadian company Havilland which was bought by Boeing and later it went to Bombardier ownership. This still had 4 turboprops. Since newer DHC-8 equipped with PW150 engines with 5000HP, two of them take the longer and heavier body which is noise insulated now. The range is just 2000km :(
Haha! I was surprised at how much quieter this Q400 is at startup. Having worked at an apron, I've seen scores of Q300 startups and takeoffs and yeah, she really does sound different. If I had to guess, I'd say that the extra blades reduce the torque output on the turbines leading to a different sound. Still, it's probably way more fuel efficient! I love the De Havilland Dash series.
@@BryantWhite86 They are at what they call "Start and Feather" and then once it gets louder, they would put the Prop levers forward to either the "NTOP" setting or something below it :)
They bring the Prop lever forward to Min, and leave it there during taxi, with the taxi power settings going between Disc and Flight Idle, depending on power required.
Same plane that airport worker took off on, with no prior experience real flying, and he fucking did a barrel role and recovered like a stunt pilot less than 20 feet from the water!!!!!!??????. This maneuver has never been done by even experienced pilots with this type of plane, and it will not be forgotten!
after a life listening them, i heard noises like this one and think ROLLS ROYCE DART even knowing that isn´t it. we had Fokker F-27 of the Air Force based in my city for like 25 years....
4x Turboprop Engine Start Up!! Dash-8-Q400
ruclips.net/video/bgdnqsEcJJc/видео.html
when they come up to idle power the propellers sound like a giant box fan

I thought I was the only one that dislikes that .
Yess finally someone knows camera settings!
Yes

Yeah he used a slow shutter speed because it was night, if it was day he would’ve used a 1/640th of a second making the props stationary
I love that sound when those engines are at full power.
Loved it! Just for a moment, it took me back to my days as a USAF C-130 crew member. Part of my duties were to be a "scanner" so I was outside the aircraft talking to the A/C while monitoring engine start. Loved that sound!!!
The Dash 8-Q400, one of my favourite planes. Great sounds.
Mine too, for the same reason! And for the fact that you can see the landing gear from the inside.
Dash is one of my favorites for sure

Innsbruck is nice

you just explained my feeling as well...same!

4:52 I love that effect!
Yeah, looks cool. But even cooler to see is when sitting inside and the props bend forward under that icredible torque...
What effect?
What a beautiful plane! Love propeller driven planes.
My absolute favorite aircraft to fly in so far Love that sound!
peace captain :D 2:46
4:45 Slipstreams are so satisfying!!!
Satisfactory at so many levels. Night take off, Bass rumble of the props. Liked!
The Dash 8-400 sounds and looks so cool! Its my favourite plane.
Love that noise .
It is Not noise, is fine music
Wow!! Excellent quality footage! Stunning lights at takeoff!! More please!
Flew in a Dash-7 from LAX to Monterrey. Nice sound like this Dash-8!
The first plane I flew on was a Dash Q400. i still fly on them from time to time and the noise is my favourite part
Prop-jets are my favorite airliners to travel on!
The nostalgia! We used to fly smaller dash 8's a lot between Montrel/toronto and regional US airports when visiting family over Christmas.
I used to fly with this plane 4 times a year, between Klagenfurt and Vienna, every time that I was traveling to Sweden, because my mom was swedish so we went there twice a year.
There are two things I like about this video.. 1 the aircraft video itself, then passionate people sharing same feeling like mine.. love ya all folks.
Fantastic aviation video; one of the best I've seen!
Thanks a lot!! :) ciao

What a beautiful aircraft. Hopefully one day I can fly one. Stunning video
2:34 you can see one of the pilots turning the switch on for the taxi light, as he reaches up to an overhead panel you see the light come on
The engine droning sound is so pleasing to your ears that it’ll give you an eargasim.
That sound at 1:57 is simply amazing!
Not just nice. Very nice. Smooth and clear. You thought it out so well I wouldn't be surprised if the pilots were not 'in' on your filming.
Love ❤ this turbo prop sound 🔉..A manly sound 🔉.😍
One of most top videos i see ever!
Really thanks !! I'm very glad to hear this ;) ciao!!
Essa iluminação dos faróis nas hélices é muito lindo! Showww! 👏👏
That beta sound is lit 😊 at 1:56
The best Q400 video ever
I never would have guessed that a plane of that capacity could have such a tight turning radius.
the best aviation video ive ever seen!
Love that prop sound
Dash 8 is a very comfortable aircraft. I like it.
I'd sleep to this sound everyday, every second
I do! The airport is close to my house
Nice video...great engines sound..well captured...
Cool video mate its amazing. Awesome 👍👍👍💜❤💚❤💜💛💙💙💜💙💜😀💜😀💜💜😀💜😀💜💜💙💚💙💜💙💜❄
Love flying the Q400
amazing video, perfect sound great job !!!
nice video
becoming a pilot is always a dream for me but i studied only business
you still can. You can have a degree in plumbing and still become a commercial pilot. You just need the training and the hours.
Preston Hooper
And money... lots of it...
Man if you can be a succesfull business man, not only you can pilot a plane, you can hire a pilot or own a plane man
@@flightgearHD yeah because flight hours are totally free lmao

wow good sport pilots make great video. peace sign and a fist bump then take flight right in front followed by an impressive climb into the clouds
When the humning started my pores raise 😊❤️

Very nice video!
Amazing sound!
Great Video, thanks
Truly, incredible shoot.
The Q300 still sounds the best tbh
MG AviationNZ Q301 is better

Dornier 328 > Q400
I worked on this aircraft. Many times. I mean exactly this one. The golf lima from austrian. I loved those planes
it's really quite! i love turboprop!)))))✈
Great video!
Super schöne Aufnahme! Echt Cool,Gefällt mir
Beautiful machine
This is similar with Mr Baharuddin Jusuf Habibie's Plane that using Turboprop engine, it's so cool..!
I love the Dash 8!
1:48 bad boy going into beast mode
I L♥VE THAT SOUND
What causes the noise at 1:57? Did they let fuel in at that point? Or is that something to do with the speed of the propeller tip?
Bryant White it’s the props speeding up
That’s the sound of the propellers changing their pitch to idle. Before, it was below idle. Or at Disc Mode.
Sapphire Fazle Rahman oh ok cool. I didn’t think of that. Thanks

Are those T56 turboprops? They sound a lot like a C-130’s
Great Catch & Video Mate :)

Does anyone know the PW150 Propeller RPM during idle and Taxi
Well done!
4:48 propeller top vortices
q400 is not that noisy in the inside just rode a q400 davao to zamboanga philippine airlines and it was smooth.
Pü55ÿ Kâť I think the first plane I remembered flying on (which was on the way to the Philippines also) was a Dash 8 too
They have a noise cancelling feature.
Nothing like being at the airport at 0500 and smelling that jet fuel as you board the plane.
qazaq air рулит)) классный самолет)
Oh Marco! You are sooo right! This sound is cool :D It reminds me on my takeoff from Vienna :O Like for your video!
