When you're in a same sex relationship and not married you worry about being able to go into a hospital and you worry they won't look at the baby you are raising not being yours -- the way Mark threw out at Arizona that she wasn't the mother of Sophia -- I'm so glad Callie agreed to the paperwork -- marriage though pretty much took care of that.

I’m just confused on how Arizona was able to adopt Sophia with Marc around. He most definitely did not give up his parental rights.
I don't think Arizona actually adopted Sofia until after Mark died. The paperwork they are talking about is to make Arizona allowed to make decisions on medical care as well.
