Awesome kit. I'm playing the snare already, tuned high, but thinking about getting the kit too. It has a lovely soundt, the spruce gives it a beautiful tone.

Very nice playing, touch & tuning
With some (more worn out )Coated Ambassadors this beautiful kit will sound rather “vintage”

I ALMOST pulled the trigger on the Kapur version of this kit, but the 8 lugs per side on the kick, and those old 1981 style (shove the arm through the hole and crank the wing bolt) floor tom leg mounts were a deal-breaker for me. Those things make what looks like a relatively high end kit look like an intermediate kit.
I'm genuinely bummed about that, I really wanted this kit.

I feel like these drums were designed to be tuned lower. The toms sound like snare drums without the chain. A 20" bass drum is still supposed to have a rock punchy tone for me in my opinion. Id just love to hear it at a much lower tuning range to hear the fatness ?! I mean isn't the word "Fat" in the name of this set? They tuned down the one drum that didn't need to be tuned down at the end! The snare ?! But nice try on the demo.

Thanks for this comment... To be honest, any bass drum can get punchy and "rocky"... ;-) With today's heads (originally muted) almost any bass drum sounds the same ! Without any hole in the resonant head, I found it more interested to try out some other tunings... As far as the snare, if it can get "fat" be certain that the rest of the kit can !! Same wood, same bearing edges and same rims... A very nice kit that I think the designers wanted to sound like the Soul kits from the 60's... That's the sound (more acoustic) that I was trying to get. With no mike IN the bass drum, but in front of it... Nice try, as you said ;-)
