of course the oligarchs like Elon Musk want tariffs on foreign goods in order to protect their uncompetitive sector of the economy. Trump/Biden tariffs are to crush the workers, which people like Elon Musk or the bosses of the dockworkers union want to make sure they do not have to pay more; even after they made billions of dollars during the pandemic. Buttigieg would push Biden and Kamala to use the law to crush the union strike, just like Reagan would and just like any Republican would.

What if companies in the US were allowed to establish a manufacturing zone in which they could build a huge plant and have thousands of acres surrounding the plant with tiered housing thats anywhere from free (the low end) to like half the cost of what is normal (high end housing) rentals or rent to own. Alot of it would be tax write off for the company. It could be partially self sustainable with crops livestock to provide eggs, dairy, meat etc for free for the workers. But the catch is the majority of the jobs pay less than a typical union job but enough to save a substantial amount of money especially after several years. In this scenario you could save 50k after five years if youre a low end worker double it if the company matches

Tariffs are a tax on foreign nations for access to our market. Since we import more than we export, it is more important for us to ensure our money stays in our country rather than being transferred to foreign countries. Mostly we export raw materials like lumber or scrap metal and we import finished products. Tariffs would encourage manufacturing here.

Regulations and UNIONS are the reason American made products are unreasonably expensive. Loosen regulations and abolish ALL unions prices drop. Pactically overnight all other nations are competitive, not because they raised their prices but because ours have been cut in half. Then the cost of living drops because the wages drop to a realistic uninflated level. This is basic high school economics. I live in an expensive county with prices higher than another around me. Why is it expensive? High density of Dr's, lawers and union labor. Higher wages=higher costs. Lower wages=lower cost. 101.

So Trump wasn't honest about China paying the tariffs. No business in their right mind will PAY something without passing it on to consumers. Whether you increase minimum wage or get taxed etc. However Tariffs are needed to counter unfair competition and preserve remaining jobs in the country. It is unwise to allow one company or country to hold that much power in being the ONLY manufacturer.

You have to run tariffs on countries that do not compete in a roughly fair manner. Unlike this channel post, I can see reducing regulations yes, however, I do want clean air and clean water, so there’s a balance. There’s only so many regulations you can collect reasonably and have clean air and clean water. I think the answer, is tariff countries that do not have clean air and clean water regulations to the point where our businesses can compete. I can see the idea of not adding more regulations sure, even cutting some. I can’t see cutting clean air and clean water though. There’s a reasonable limit to what the Vivek is talking about. I think the debate he’s talking about, comes from middle of the road Democrats that I’ve joined the party, and it’s a meaningful debate with value. This is why it is wonderful to have some socialist and middle of the Democrats join the Republican party, we get responsible Good arguments from the other side. One of them is, how much regulations do you cut? I can appreciate that.
For example, if you want to make housing more plentiful, one argument is to cut zoning regulations, however, the pro zoning regulation people will point out, that you don’t want a leather factory next to a home subdivision, so it’s good to hear from other sides and revise positions and policies to make them better. Thanks for reading.

In the end, it just unmasks how the way that capitalism is practiced by the large economies is just a sham and a joke.

@@kassygendron3022 Prices were not low under Trump. Especially after he imposed tariffs on China. For Example:
      Electronics:
The price impact on consumer electronics like smartphones and laptops was analyzed by industry experts. According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the tariffs could raise the price of a smartphone like the iPhone by as much as 14%. Other reports from CNBC also indicated that laptops and electronics saw potential price increases between 10% and 20%.
      Appliances:
A study from the Federal Reserve Board found that the tariffs on washing machines directly contributed to price increases of 12% for washing machines. Sources like Bloomberg also reported that other appliances, such as refrigerators, saw increases between 10% and 20%.
      Clothing and Footwear:
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) reported that tariffs on clothing and shoes led to price increases between 5% and 15%, depending on the product and company strategies. The Wall Street Journal noted similar percentage ranges for footwear.
      Furniture:
A report by The National Retail Federation (NRF) indicated that tariffs on furniture led to price hikes of 10% to 25%, with many furniture retailers passing these costs on to consumers.
      Toys and Sporting Goods:
According to the Toy Association and coverage by Reuters, toy prices increased by about 5% to 10% as a result of the tariffs on Chinese-made toys. Some sporting goods, such as bicycles, experienced increases of up to 15%.
      Automobile Parts:
Research by the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) estimated that tariffs on auto parts could lead to price increases between 5% and 10% for parts, which contributed to higher costs for repairs and new vehicles. The New York Times also reported similar findings regarding auto parts and related costs.
      Tools and Machinery:
Reports from Industry Week and CNBC indicated that tools, industrial machinery, and equipment experienced price hikes of 10% to 20%, reflecting the tariffs' impact on manufacturing and construction industries.
      Food Products (Seafood):
Tariffs on seafood products such as shrimp and fish led to price increases of about 10%, according to reports from SeafoodSource and The Washington Post, which analyzed the trade war's impact on food imports.

If you tax work via income taxes, you are discouraging people from working and making money.
