    Good review, thanks!
My only concern / main gripe with the previous version was the 80mW max output on the Frsky protocol. Frsky radios as well as the XJT module all output 100mW and the lower power of the TX16S had a noticeable effect on range. I'm assuming then from the specification & photo's that the module hasn't been upgraded or had it's output amplified in this version?

Looks pretty competent to me (and so does the radio, Andrew🤭). I'm still not a fan of touch-screens or the vogue for multicoloured, cluttered displays, though.
They remind me of those angry wristwatches aimed at teenagers which have at least 30 'essential for urban combat situation' functions plus a mixed analogue-digital display in tiny weeny graphics against a messy camouflage/mock carbon-fibre background.
Ironically, actually telling the time takes a considerable amount of time.
I think a simple big, blocky monochrome display is all that a computer radio needs. Your opinion may vary, depending on your age.
Eh? What's MY age? Tut, tut. If you're old enough to ask that, you're too young to know. 😁

be carefull regarding the elrs modul if you are an EU citizen or any western country where the elrs modul is mostly illegal due to missing certification.
Not a big deal for many if illegal, but your customs might have a list and will reject anything elrs* containing.
The elrs modul has also no CE marking so the customs becomes the big hurdle even if import vat are paid in advance.
Once the customs rejects it the shipping goes back which takes a while longer and might be without tracking. I had to open a paypal claim.
And finally the colour screen does not exist out on the field cause you can't read it in sunlight cause it is still the chrapest touch screen they could get and far worser than even cheap smartphones offer.
Not sure if you might be blinded by the specs cause it is not that much better than your current one cause it is still it a big bulky heavy radio and the Zorro is a bigger milestone as Andrew had mentioned.
and it is twice the price when it had been introduced back late 2019 in a pre sale with delivery in April 2020.
We have purchased 15 of these over the past years in 4 or 5 batches for the club and the course participants.
Good quality - mostly, but among the participants only a few elderly still go for tx16s due to bigger screen and better readability inside, while the radiomaster Zorro and Jumper T-lite are now the new kings as 85% go for these, 5% are fr sky bound and 10% tx16s once they had had all 3 in their hands.
Yes, the new is a better one, but you pay an awfull lot for smaller improvements.
I am a big fan of radio master radios but no longer for such a high or increased price.
It is no longer a budget radio, 50$ more for close to nothing cause radiomaster does only iron things out they should have done ages ago cause the potentiometer with better dent or sliders with stronger friction are just cents more
And check the eachine one which is made by radiomaster for banggood with better switches and other minor improvements which can be a lot cheaper and most likely will be also getting an upgrade.
for 200$ it is no longer such easy decision if you look at it more closer.
We went for Radoomaster Zorro and Jumper t-lite after long debates - even before Mark 2 was released after they had increased prices and released new products.
If you are in need for a big screen @ home it might be worth, otherwise not really.

I bought a TX16S back in October last year, and it seems to be a MK1.5 version, it has the same gimbals as this MK2 but the thicker grips which I am desperate to swap to thinner ones, and the older dials and sliders. Its a great radio but I had to unsolder the trainer port and rearrange the metal contacts inside it to make it compatible with regular 3.5mm jacks. The cool thing with this Mk2 is all the important upgrades should be compatible with the older one. But the shops in the UK haven't got these new spare bits in stock yet!

Very nice thorough, well photographed review.
Have you tried the Eachine edition of the Radiomaster TX16S?
Mine has some of the features of the Mk II, like external gimbal adjust, stronger detents in potentiometers, & lower positioning of 6 push buttons next to the monitor. Just came with OpenTx when I bought it last Dec.

check the eachine offer first cause that is cheaper and made by banggood.
the radiomaster mark 2 price is now twice of that what we paid 2 years ago and about 200$ no longer a budget radio,
Eachine was on sale for about 150$, but the biggest competitors are radiomasters zorro and jumper t-lite.

Hi! Million thanks for this video 😎👍🏾.
Today ive just done two flights( a full equipment maiden actually- TX16S mk2 v4 Edgetx,R88 wired as sbus,Zohd Kopilot Lite ,Bixler3), but im get upset..
1- rssi not good, during takeoff only get around 67db. While flying around 90ft tx16s says 'rssi low' @ 52db.. the furthest ive tried is around 120ft and tx16 says 'rssi critical' and at 39db..almost lost signal.
Have tried both D8 and D16 protocol on the Frsky modulation.also same.R88 rx dual antenna angled at 90deg or 180deg also same, rssi not strong and not full up to 100%.
2- 1st flight done. Manual & Balance mode is fine,if switched to RTH mode the Bixler just circling above me at 50ft+-, it wont self land to runway(as i set during power up the plane on the middle of the field).. i did adjust the Rth/Rad Pot clockwise till it stop.as illustrated in zohd manual.
3- second flight. Tried change rf protocol to Frsky,D16 8Ch.and tried both style angled antenna( 90° & 180°), still didnt get full rssi to 100 during sit on runway.just got under 77db..
Managed to fly around 100ft radius only, during last landing ive stalled the bixler and it just dive stall from 20ft height..no way to survive it😅..loll
Conclusion: what is not right about it? Did i missed setup something on Tx16s that i just bought new?
Kopilot unit- RTH function didnt land the plane, is it just thats all?
The day before, i did try out other setups: elrs mode. Jumper Aion mini tx module & Jumper Aion mini 2.4 Rx(pwm).. only ch a.e.t.r did work, but ch5 for use the flight mode is not work..anyway i did not have access to see the Aion mini Rx pwm signal graph,as my laptop is not compatible to download the Expresslrs Configurator(mine is Windows8, popup blocked says didnt have 64-bit to run it)🤦🏻‍♂️
Or should i try my other ORX receivers tats laying around? Got a Orx R610Lite v2, a Orx NanoRx ppm rx, a JR R721 and a R921 rx sets..
Btw/: i will be need to have at least 7or8 useable channels to run also an fpv pantilt 2servo gimbal.
Will someone please help me out...?😭
Ill be really appreciate your help.

Andrew I have watched this video and your one on the Zorro. I am looking to purchase my first Edge TX radio. I fly slope, electric and IC nothing really requiring more than 6 channels (split ailerons + flaps). It seems that the Zorro has enough functionality to cover all of my flying needs (I saw you setup crow on the Zorro and it has 2 sliders available). In your opinion is there a reason I should buy the larger/heavier/double the cost TX16s II over the Zorro (I did notice you saying the Zorro may become your goto daily flyer radio). Any chance of you doing a side by side comparison of the two - on the bench would be fine. Can both radios support the same number of models? Does the 4in1 module have the same output power on both radios? Appreciate your advise. Regards Ian.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  2 года назад

Very much personal preference. Zorro is great for the majority of my flying. Don't know about output power, but for longer range and proven reliability I would go back to the single protocol FrSKY Taranis QX7 or Tandem X20 rather than any multi protocol radio.

I will at least keep the Spektrum DX5e Tx's as that will allow me to give a TX and a model to friends to fly on the slope - I sooo luv EPP/EPO slopies for newbies/friends.
