Dude this is the fifth video I watched and yours is the only one that explains the difference and therefore tells me how to use them. I’m not good with tools and I couldn’t figure out what the switch was for. Thank you
We need to use both our hands for the ratcheting Action to work like one hand holding the bottom of the shaft and the other holding the handle to turn the screwdriver. But in this process we can't hold the job we're tightening or loosening the screws if needed!
I knew such a thing existed but didn't know what it was called! Female, no brothers, always fixing things. Love tools but no idea what to do with them.
The ratchet screwdriver is not "NEW" Dr. History. German companies were making even better ratchet screwdrivers than the one you are showing us in the 1800s and you could buy them in catalogs over 100 years ago.
Can't stand ratcheting screwdrivers! All I want to do is screw or unscrew a few turns and I constantly have to adjust the screwdriver switch back and forth. The switch is always in the wrong position. Then the stupid ratchet gives out if you try to torque very much. The solid screwdriver in the video is useless for a Phillips head so I use a solid driver with a magnetic tip that can use multiple bits. Don't have time to play with stupid tools.
@alanblanc3817 sorry to hear that. I was wondering if you can please subscribe to my channel? After years of making videos I am so close to making it to my first 100K subscribers!

Thanks for this video bud, I bought one of these in a small cheap kit and didn't realize what it was! Your video has explained this perfectly :)
That’s awesome, I’m glad the video helped. The screwdriver is very useful and easy to use once you learn about them
"A forest was discovered recently in which most of the trees grew ratchet screwdrivers as fruit".
This sentence brought me here

100 times better than battery powered screw driver. You need to charge them, think about weather its charged or not, crazy.
