thanks. I was actually always using stationary thinking the left was to release the screw bit (make it easier to take out) and the right was to tighten the screw bit (for tougher jobs).

Is this ratcheting mechanism only for tight/ harder screws that are hard to open or close like those on wooden items? Because I tried this product but I noticed it doesn't work while opening or tightening screws on Electrical switches as don't turn the screw after one turn so I was forced to disable the ratcheting system to normal and then unscrew the screw
I have similar but I have small bits not the long extension you have. Every time it ia pain to load and unload the bit. There is a ball mechanism to prevent the bit falling but then again it takes a lot of force to load and unload the bit. Perhaps the one i bought had a missing part.
