I remember writing songs when I was younger and I would show them to my friends and they would always say “but you’ve never delt with this” or “but that’s not who you are” or “you’ve never done this or felt this” and I always thought “well, what is wrong with that? It doesn’t matter does it? I thought if you want to write a song, do it.” And then Billie comes around a couple years later and tells us that it’s okay and I just wanna start crying because I was always made fun of by my peers for wanting to sing about losing my boyfriend in WWI or wanting to kill my self or falling in love or being in an abusive relationship and then realizing that pre-teen me should’ve listened to herself not everyone else.
