I liked Sasha before but now I have a new found respect for her. The part where she mentioned going bald due to her mother's cancer had me all up in my feelings especially since I've had family members die from cancer. So if she isn't in the top 3, I'm going to throw a fit lol.
I'm obsessed with her. Her style of drag is so interesting and is something we have rarel seen on the show. She really is the definition of thoughtful drag. She shows us her intelligence not to show off but instead to share with us the importance of drag as a form of entertainment and as a platform for defiance and countercultural creativity. She shows us how drag can be a channel to communicate political/activist ideologies and challenge social and gender norms. When she calls herself a fiercely intellectual gender monster she is not lying. She demonstrates a well rounded and alternate perspective of drag. Who treats drag as more than just feminine illusion and values it as an art form, as a way to express her ideas, opinions and imagination also. She is a big political/activist voice in the the LGBT+ community and does so much for the Brooklyn drag scene in general. I knew she was very friendly with drag kings and is a big supporter of it as an art form but it's nice to know she really helps them a lot too alongside helping other queens in the community. Even in the magazine she's the co-founder and creative director of VYM, she makes a point of including and curating essays from a wide range of voices in the LGBT+ community in each issue, including drag kings. She finds it really important to represent and be accepting of other forms of drag and other artists/identities in the LGBT+ community in general. Especially those art forms that are marginalised and shunned a lot of the time in the community, like drag kings. I respect that A LOT.

I decided to shave my head when I was shedding worse than my dogs. There are many things that make up our ideas of gender, internally and in society. A woman's hair is one of them. I had very short hair in high school. I don't know how many times people asked me if I were a lesbian based on nothing but the length of my hair. It was ridiculous to me. When I lost my hair, though, I did feel like I'd lost a part of my femininity. I had a total hysterectomy years later, and I really felt it then, less than a real woman since I no longer had the right equipment. It took me years to realize that those things never did define my gender.

I find it interesting that Sasha and Acid Betty have two very different experiences in the Brooklyn drag scene despite them both being unconventional drag queens. They obviously have very different personalities which could be a big contributing factor, but the way Sasha describes Brooklyn drag is quite warm and fuzzy while Betty's take is a bit more dismal and sad.
When I first saw this earlier this year I immediately fell in love with Sasha and was hoping she would win - and look at her now! Our NEW Drag Superstar!! :)

I was shedding worse than the dog, lol. They don’t tell you that your head gets so cold. I did wear wigs. I had one that was like my real hair, and a few for fun. My son was only 2 1/2, and he would grab them off my he’s. Talk about a wig reveal. 😂
What I like about him is that he doesn't wear large wigs like other drags. He just stay true to himself and he is so gorgeous to look at. He's like a piece of art. The way he dress and especially the eyebrows stand out. He's like a French drag from Paris 😍😍😍
