double equals vs triple equals is already hard enough to distinguish(and sometimes understand) and now its even more complex with that fira code lol. And the fat arrow became a big fat arrow too. :P

Most of them known, one opinion on any IDE/Editor: sidebar always on the right. Reason: your code viewport will SCIENTIFICALLY NEVER change toggling sidebar, because programming for some reason is LTR.
Whoa! This just blew my mind. You are right. Code is left-aligned (unless you are using the centered view) so putting the bar on the right means that it doesn't jump around. I'm going to tweet this and try my best to give you the credit.
Thanks for noticing. It sucks that every major IDE/Code editor conventionally put it on the left, and defaults create stubborn people. Consider talking about it in future talks, if you like it.
I'm a changed man. Everyone says I'm crazy, but it just makes logical sense. I added the tip to vscodecandothat.com. If you have a link or twitter that you would like me to link to, let me know and I'll give you the proper credit.
It is not true that dark themes are better for your eyes at all. This rule only applies when you are also in a dark environment. Dark text on light background is always better to read. Maybe not black on white, better pastel or so, but that would be a long comment if we discuss color codes. But rule of thumb is light theme in light environment and dark theme in dark environment. Keep in mind that it is very bad for your eyes to look into a bright screen in a dark environment. So always keep on lights and so you should always use light themes.
@@robertomartinez8966 it depends what you want, code editor is lightweight and fully customizable if you like to custom every aspect of your environment use a code editor but if you just all in one ready using an ide is better idea that's the huge difference that I meant I use neovim and personally I don't like vs code
"he also made eclipse. that is called redemption." lmao

"Docker is like an exe package for your server app"... love it!!
"It is 2018, so we don't let science or facts get in the way of anything that we do" Hahaha....so deep. So true nowadays.
Fantastic presentation.
At 6:56 what is the keybind so you can search in the editor just as he brought up Emmet or Docker
I'm also interested in that thing but I think it's a software for mac and doesn't depend on vscode

"your welcome"?! He may have spotted the code bug but he introduced a GRAMMAR bug!
I know, right! The difference is knowing you're shit vs. knowing your shit
+Burke Holland, can you create a git repo with the music app? I'd like to see how you code.

Built in. No extensions required.

Prettier is not useful for me, my Eslint config is told to automatically fix all auto fixable and fix all formating

Camera man is struggling to keep up with your energy Burke! Great talk.
I made him work for it!
Love the camera operator's “oh FFS” move at 3:58. 😂
Really useful and helpful. Thanks.
I would enjoy this talk even I didn't know what vscode was
This might be the best compliment I've ever gotten. Except for when my wife recently said, "I guess you still look ok. I don't know."

You can put the sidebar on the right in code
Yes, you can move it to right on VSCode by just going to "View -> Move Side Bar to Right"

Thank god Im using Android Studio - it had most of these features years ago!
there's a huge difference between a code editor and an IDE
@@shellgecko So, what's point using a code editor then? Assuming of course the IDE is also free
