The people were being respectful. At Bowery most people tend to stay quiet so that the poet has undivided attention and you may observe and absorb every single beautiful word they speak.
Seeing as I'm one of the kids "hip-hop fucked consensually, then left alone" this poem give real insight into the hip-hop "industry". I'm beyond words; all I can say is this poem is the business
How can the crowd stay silent through that? Whenever I've seen Phil do this poem the crowd would ooh, ahhh, scream and snap frantically. This poem is filled with dope lines.
@samanthaag But they've said it themselves in so many videos that they arn't brother and sister. They both may have come from an asian mother and a jewish father, but they came from two different parts of our country. It's possible they could be long lost siblings if they were once orphins, however, they've yet to mention that and they always state, "No, we are not related in any way."
will you marry me? Because your words track down some thoughts in my head that I wished didnt exist rocking to your rhymes because you have become more of an obsession than an inspiration.
@Brainstrain audiences, like at the bowery club, will make the appropriate sounds of acceptance (I can't think of a good way to phrase that) at the end of a recited poem.
A. That's the Bowery Poetry Club, the expectations are insanely high there. B. I personally find any sign of audience noise really disrespectful. Someone took the time to craft words into a poem. Appreciate it silently, then applaud.
"There are too many rappers and not enough poets." - Tupac Shakur
That voice is as smooth as butter. Marry me?
Hip Hop never left, as long as you know where to look for it.
Its good to hear someone rationale enough to say it.. There are so many underrated good rappers out there and it's a crime to say that Hip-Hop is dead
Feeling hot under my collars. God. That voice.
Thanks to this video I really want a shirt that says "Hip Hop Died for Your Sins" on it.
If you make this happen I will buy ten of them. Forrreal tho.

Short answer: Lil Wayne
Marry me. Please?
They used to do it to put more emotion into their raps, just like Phil does here. Nowadays, they use it to fill up shapes. I'm ashamed
A white man pronouncing the death of hip hop - plus ca change plus c'est la meme.
Fu**ing f*ck.... I know that's not nearly insightful as what you just presented us with but... that's all I got right now.
