Dad's surprise for Mustang like he drove in high school, father/son firing up the engine, metal repair of floors, finding car while skateboarding after hunting a Mach 1 for 11 years. Авто/Мото
That...was a GIFT! That's just awesome! nThat man realized the situation with the car and his health yet because of the love the younger guy had for the car he basically gave it to him. Those wheels and tires are easily worth what the kid paid. Great story and a great gift from that man. PLEASE A PART 2!
Planning on it.
@@thewriter2549
Jerry....is the part 2 in the works? It might take him a while to get it really fixed up i guess. It would take me probably 3 years of saving and working on it myself as much as I could to restore that car right.
Yeah it’s a great story. Very generous. You could see the kid would love the car.
And take the original owner or a ride if he’s still alive ❤
What a great old guy. A kind heart and generous spirit.
That guy did this kid a major solid. I hope he offers the older gentleman a friendship for life and at the very least, free yardwork indefinitely. And MAN that old girl sounded nice and healthy.
Would love to see a part 2 of the finished car
I'm looking into this.
@@thewriter2549 thanks
@@thewriter2549 I would love to see the Old Mustang Owner get to take it for rip after it gets done.. Good Karma.
Good idea, maybe he will. I hope so.
same .. great story
Love how dad couldn't help himself and got right in there. Love it.
You better take care of that old man till he is gone!
What a great coincidence - The neighbourhood, the skate, the notice from the city, the price, it's really a dream come true story!
It's good to hear good things happen to good people
I loved they way Pop just jumped in and started working on it. What a great story and project to work on with your dad. Looking forward to more videos on the restoration.
That's a great observation. Very funny and passionate.
I love that kind older gentleman! Good luck J!
We need more people like Bryan.
What a decent, sweet, and kind old gentleman. I love Jareds smile and happiness. Jared seems like a very respectful young man. God bless both of these fellows! I hope and pray they have a long lasting friendship!
Great story. 1970 was the most beautiful mustang body style ever. Please video the entire restoration. I'd love to see it, as would thousands of other Mustang lovers. Give us every detail!
I thought he was going to say "oh no, the car is worth way more than what your asking" IMO he should have payed at least what the old bloke was asking to be honorable. Like your Dad said "you stole that car man" I love your dads energy and enthusiasm. Enjoy your dream car. Nice video BTW
The 69 and 70 Mustang fastbacks are bringing heavy dollars now. This 70 Mach1 was worth $4000 without ANY of the parts. I'm with you mojomoore1, Jared should have been honorable and gave the old Man $4000.
The father was just as excited about the car as the son was what a plus .
"cause I thought he was the rightful owner" amazing insight and trust to pass it on to someone that appreciates it
My feelings exactly, and I had heard of these type of deals, and wanted to chronicle one, so thanks to Brian and Jarrod on this
Best story on the internet right now.....
Jarrod is one lucky guy and I truly believe that it WAS meant to be and jerry is one heck of a guy to trust in Jarrod to love and cherish this car, don't you just love a story like this, thanks for the video 🙂👍
Amazing story and finding all those parts too!! Well done and the previous owner was a great guy
He gave that kid the car.
I'd have to go back and give the guy another grand at least.
he totally called the town on him to boost the sale ;)
Good spin on a robbery 😂
I think the old guy like the kid and needed an excuse to give him the car …. That is a 25 Grand car , as it sits …
You are a Lucky Dog !!!
Would love to see this all completed and ready. What a find. Love it!! Blessings from the west coast of Canada. !!!
Everyone should stop criticizing . Did you stop to think it could simply be that the man wanted to do something nice before he departed this world?
Exactly this. The entire thing was he wanted to see the mach 1 go to good hands and for it to be appreciated. I won't forget the way he told me Jarrod, you are truly the rightful owner of this car,and I'm glad that that you have it. To this day I maintain good contact and we are as good of friends as anybody.
Lol he robbed that man 😂
I like how the City thinks it's a 'Junk Car'.....
More often than not, stuff like this goes to the wrong person. Nice to see a change of pace, and love to see the enthusiasm in his father.
We got her on the road for the first time today. Needs quite a bit of work still but it's getting there!
@@jarrodfrankum Heck yes! Congrats
Amazing talent finding these stories Jerry. Thanks, jim in Garland tx
Thanks - you know I'd like to do a story on a Camaro too.
Pops is a bit hyper because he is excited about the car, that's cool.
My dad has always been like this. His nickname growing up was 'buzz'. Like a bee.. all the family calls him that to this day.
Great to see that not everyone thinks they have a priceless artifact and is willing to let it go to a new home where it can continue to be appreciated....
Great story and finally a guy who knows when to pass a project on to a younger guy!
One of the biggest mistakes I ever did is handing on a project car to an asshole who begged me to let him have it. I gave him the car for FREE under the condition he would work on it.
I love cars so much that I had rather lose this vehicle than letting it rot away. He told me he would help me on one of my other projects. I turned out he did not help me for 5 minutes.
He parked my car and let it sit and rot for nearly 20 years! He was even shameless enough to ask for the title and all the paperwork. When I could have bought a partscar (and my knowledge in restoring cars had improoved greatly by then), I told the guy about the parts car that was for sale. He obviously was much to lazy to do any work on the car himself. I asked him if I could get the car back to restore it myself. He answered he would charge me A LOT of money before he would hand it back to me. Because he had "stored" it for many years. After all this time he had not even bought sparkplugs or any other parts for it. I hope karma will bite this assole in the butt!
Thanks for sharing this story so people will read it and be careful. Also, I'm sorry this happened to you.
well by law if you still have the title it your car and you can take it back . if this guy is what you said he is i would take the car back
@@funtyes1970
In Switzerland we do not have the system with titles.
If you have an old "Fahrzeugausweis" issued by the registration office when the car was last registered, you own the car. The name on the paper does not matter. I have cars that are currently not registered. Their papers are not in my name. In one case those documents are nearly fourty years old.
Stories like this reassure my faith in man.
He got an amazing deal on that car! He reminds me of me lol. I found my dream Mach 1 last year in Austin. Although paid a lot more than 2500 for it haha.
Congrats Man. It took me 15 years of looking in back yards and over fences to find my 70 sports roof and have the money to bring her home. I paid $8,100 for it 12yrs ago and I’ve put 4x as much in it since lol. But I’ll never sell it . It’s the only car I ever want since I was putting models of them together when I was a kid
Wow! You are truly blessed to have gotten that 1970 Mach 1. I don't think there is anyone else it would mean as much too as you Jerry. I also have a 1970 Mach 1 and I am not sure I would even sell the rocker panels for $2500. Hope you can pass it down to your son one day. Wonderful story.
Fate rode into a car Twilight Zone on a skateboard and a kind heart fulfilled a dream.
What a cool dad to have!
Congrats, great to see another one put back on the road. My dad left me a regular 69 fastback. I’m doing a frame odd restomod into a Mach 1 tribute in honor of my dad. We had started it together but my son and I will finish it for him.
I'm watching this video for the first time. I'm glad Jarrod got it. I hope he does the right thing and pay him a bit more when he can afford it.
I know he wanted Jarrod to have it, but it's obvious the owner could use some cash. Regardless, great story!
lol yeah I'm sure he will do that . and i wouldnt call that right thing to do . old car owner sold to him for $2500 if he really wanted more money he could sold it for more money easy just saying
@@funtyes1970 The thing is the old guy was really put in a bind with the city threatening him. Car was a steal at $4 or even $6k.
I saved this to my favorites. Fantastic story, glad he got his dream car. Never let it go.
Hopefully that old fella gets to see the car restored and on the road again. With Jarrod pulling in the driveway smiling ear to ear.
Dreams really can come true 😇🥰😊❤ couldn't have gone to a better deserving guy. This is really neat. Blessings to both 🙏🙌
Absolutely!! Did you watch to see Dad's surprise?
@@thewriter2549 I did, he was so excited!! Also, before dad was putting the gas in the carborator. I got tickled, because he was like, zeuzeuzeu, @16:06 lol that made me laugh. He seems so excited and happy to help you. I also teared up ,when the man said that he sold it to you, because you are the rightful owner, because of your honest, a good man, and I agree. 😀
What a wonderful story about made me cry several times with joy that someone who really loved this car got it.
Congrats! She is a beauty for sure. I hope you enjoy her for many many years. Please realize the generosity of the old timer......If it were me or my son......I would be over there painting the dudes house and mowing his lawn........delivering the occasional hot meal. I say this because your young and not made of money yet.....but a little sweat off your back to show your appreciation the the man would be the ticket.
I am subscribing to watch you bring this baby back to life!!! Very happy for you!
What an incredible story and an even more incredible score. I guess some dreams really do come true. Also with his hat on, Jarrod's father looks like Ernest T Bass from the Andy Griffith show. Lol
One of my favorite characters on the old Andy Griffith show. Plus there's the voice.
I have a very similar story with a 1969 Mustang Fastback. The vehicle truly becomes priceless when there is a great story behind it.
Hats off and bravo to the owner who sold it! Pass it on to a young guy who will love it!! Enjoy
I agree and well said.
Congrats on your score. What a smokin deal with a great story. I'm still chasing the dream of owning a 69 Mach 1.
Maybe we can help. Anybody out there have one? If I find one, I like to see it go from enthusiast to enthusiast. No flippers.
The planets aligned for Jarrod that day ! What a great story Jerry, thank you for it !
Good to hear from you!! Yeah started this story back in March. Took 8 months to get it all together. I remember hearing stories like this, but never saw this in print or anywhere. This stuff does happen.
Tears of joy! Man that’s an awesome story.
I'm glad your dream was realized dude My dream car is in 1968 or 69 Ford Fairlane 500 fastback they only made them 2 years and then discontinued the Fairlane style and just left the Torino
Amazing story! I'm an owner of 69 fastback and know what these cars are about. Welcome to the mustang club. Please post more videos of the car restoration. I just subscribed to your channel.
Timing is everything. Well, and God's will of course.
I have a 1969 mach1 fastback I found mine At the age of 13 in West Virginia And literally I've been working on it ever since it is now completely silver With purple and black holographic flames from the front wheel wheel to the rear wheel wheel that when the light hits it it actually jumps off the car and flickers it is absolutely sick And I would never trade my car for anything
A great story with a good ending. Almost similar to mine, my dad had a 76 Cobra II w/ blue stripes he would always tell me stories about all the stangs he owned. But the 76 II just stood out. He lost it in 86, when a family destroyed it. Since I was 8 yo I wanted one. But when I finally had a real job and money. I was on the hunt, it was a tough mission but I finally found one; it took me two years. But its a 78 King Cobra, but ay even more rare care. Right now it's a project car and I'm so glad that I have it.
Glorified Pinto but cool in it's own way
What a heartwarming story! I’m so glad for Jared getting his dream car. Makes me miss my ‘70! If ic an give one piece of advice to Jared I wish someone would have gave me. No MATTER WHATEVER happens in life DO NOT BY NO MEANS EVER SELL THAT CAR! I have nightmares sometimes I ever sold mine!
I hear you! My first car in 1987 at age 16 was a 69 Camaro that was freshly restored. Drove it all through high school and many years after. One day a guy just had to buy it and put a nice amount of money on the table. I stupidly sold it.
I sometimes dream the car is in my garage. I wake up happy, but then realize the Camaro is gone. The memories of all the good times…
Well, sounds like you made a profit, but to have the car, yeah. I've done the same thing and the pain of my decision comes and goes.
Right car to the right guy; and with his Dad's help and knowledge, this bargain is definitely staying in this family for a LONG time !!
Yes, "right car to the right guy" is a quotable quote.
Great find and a great story
Miss my 67 Mustang! Great stuff Jerry!
Hey, thanks!!
Mustang is probably worth
$25,000. The way it is…
You killed it Sir..
Drive in good health and all blessings
Especially with all the spare parts. I grew up with a 70 Mach 1. 351 w 4 speed. Miss that car.
Great story JH! Hope to see a follow up!
'Ol Jeff is just fuming with Envy of the youngster's dumb luck.
"The dashboard cluster alone,... is worth $2,500.00!!!"
..."some guys have all the luck".... Rod Stewart '80
No, Jerry is happy to tell the story, but some guys do have all the luck.
Christmas came early, I am really happy for you, don't ever let it go...I had a 69 Camaro SS.. First car I ever bought, bought it in "70. I still have a picture of that car. not a week go by I don't think about it...I'm retired from Ford assembly plant in Louisville Ky.
I should have known Jeff would be there to help. He is a great guy and is always willing to go 200% to help.
Yeah, and Jeff is very busy. He loves classic Mustangs.
Love this story. I was one almost that lucky. My neighbor had a 70 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme that be bought for his mom in 74. She never drove it much as she was older and passed away shortly after. He had it and babied is whole life. I always told him I wanted it if he would ever sell it. One day, he was talking to me, oh somewhere late 89 early 90s, and told me he was thinking of selling it and a guy offered him a nice amount but if he didn't take it, it was mine. I'm talking all original from the dealer... he was in theory the 2nd owner... he was telling me if that guy didn't take, I'd get it for 700.00 to 800.00. Well the guy came through and I didn't get it. I saw it on a used car lot in Pownal Vermont. The guy was a dealer. My neighbor told me, he would have never sold it to him knowing that. He wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it. So... that's my classic car story and you're a very lucky young man with a great story and a friend to the previous owner that knew he had to do the right thing.
I just heard of a similar story on an 1966 L79 Nova SS where the car went right up for sale and the original owner/seller was not happy. I think what we all should start doing is asking the seller more questions, like was the buyer a dealer, or even being more open about what the car is worth.
I know how he feels. Just picked up an '04 Lightning that I used to pass almost every day. One day there was a for sale sign on it and the older gentlemen who owned gave me an incredible deal. Definitely felt like divine intervention.
Yes, this happens. Would you reveal to us the price you paid and the condition of the Lightening?
@@thewriter2549 Oh, it was a mess. The gentleman used it daily, chain-smoked cigars in it (burn marks everywhere) and rust on the frame (I'm working on it). But the body was in great shape, and the engine, which was replaced at 125k on a 177k chassis, runs perfect and was well-maintained. It's a driver and i'm restoring it...and I paid less than $5,000. (see video on my channel).
My 70 fastback was the same color. I bought it for $800 in 1979. It had a 302 and 3speed manual transmission. My dad and I did the body work. I wish I didn't sell mine.
Thanks for sharing
I own the exact same Mach 1. Medium lime metallic with ivy green interior. 351 W 2v. I have owned it since I was 18, I am 61 today.
That's awesome Mike. I wish I still had my 390 XR falcon I build at age 18 but was forced to sell when I moved overseas. Now, I also have Mach 1. Grabber Green 428 R code. Like Jarrod I believe the car found me :-)
@@mojomoore1 Wow, you found a great model. Well done.
Enjoy it boy !!! Great Memories
Great story Jerry! Nice car needing a few things, then Jarrod brought out all the new parts! Really amazing all the extras, Jarrod got with the car. Jarrod you need to ask Jeff about what should be done with the car. Replace floor pan, or spot fix it. Total restoration or just bad spots.
Jerry, really interesting how you put the whole store together. Russ
Thanks Russ
Oh, and thanks for helping me figure out a good title for this story.
This is how it's done. His dad needs a RUclips channel. Epic score
Jarrod, you have to show Brian the finished car. Give him the satisfaction of seeing what he was working toward.
Wow! Just WOW! Jerry, it's been a while....Nice to see you telling stories again.
Thanks, I have been working on 4 stories that are in the hopper. I've just been rounding up loose ends from each one. Should have a couple more up this year.
That is awesome. I hope we get to see it when he gets it all together and restored like he wants it.
Nice score! I had a 70 4v cleavland four speed shaker. Second car
I watched Craigslist for a year or so and found a 69 Coupe cleaned it up got it running and about five years later found a 70 Mach 1 street parked in front of a house. Paid a little more than you but still a great price.
Well I am damn glad these stories are still out there . When a kid can no longer dream about and attain that mustang down the street under the cover , well its just not America anymore...... A more pure story does not exist..... It just doesnt..... Many many years ago that kid was me..... I am sure there are many here that can look way back and remember the same thing themselves.
Exactly my thoughts, and I heard these stories for years, how a neighbor or friend gave a younger person a price under market, and I wanted to chronicle one. Then, I was surprised when many viewers turned on the young buyer, even after in the video I asked the retired seller why he sold his car so cheap. Glad to read your comment and that you are also happy about his good fortune. Thank you.
This video truly made me happy. Enjoy the hell outta that car!
Really? Because the majority of comments - and I haven't counted - are from people upset that Jarrod got the car too cheap. Why?
There are many ways to help the old guy at this stage of his life. Money doesn't ALWAYS have to change hands. Sometimes, long term friendship can develop. The old guy looked out for your future, now look out for him, he doesn't have long.
Hope you consider giving that original owner a ride in the Mach 1 when you get it running and cleaned up.
Jarrod already has plans for a drive. I think he said they would go get a burger or something. We'll show that here.
Thank you Jerry for your work.
Beautiful story
Awesome deal you got there lucky man
Son hasn’t figured out, this is dad’s new mustang.
I think the dad is also excited that his son likes these cars and got one.
That was a great story…congratulations, enjoy the process and the finished product. ….! !…
Thank you!
I had a bad feeling watching this, the guy should have at least paid the initial asking price which was a steal as well. The video made me feel the man was taken advantage of…
That’s a great story Jerry, thanks for the upload.
You're welcome, so glad you're supportive of the buyer and seller.
What a great story!!! How could anyone hear this story and not believe?
I agree
Great story, happy ending for everyone.
Good for you on getting that car. Welcome to the club. Treat her the way she deserves to be treated and she will be here for another 50 years. I hope you invited the old man for Thanksgiving.
We definitely need an update to this story Mr. Jerry!
Great story, congratulations on an amazing find.
Glad you get it, thanks.
Absolute Love!
Fait. It was meant to be. The old man had 10s of thousands of dollars in parts and he just let it all go with the car. Sometimes its not about the money. Its about it ending up in the right hands. I think this was a perfect example of that.
Fate is right, it was meant to be.
Pure joy watching this story! Dad couldn't wait to hear it run!!
Yes, he put off rebuilding the carburetor.
Dude,, that guy has gotta front row seat to heaven, and you will love this car!
Sounds right.
i currently have the 2021 mach 1, its such a fun car to drive. i wish i could buy another one as back up🤣😩
Bless Brian's golden heart for making a dream come true. What a nice man who can see beyond a dollar. Congrats to Jared and his dad to have an awesome experience and a dream come true. Awesome story. P.s. That nice red restored 69 mach 1 with the Utah plates in this video is from my home town.
Nicely put, I feel the same. I photographed the '69 Mach 1 for Mustang Monthly.
