No one (including Hardie) shows how to apply trim at the top of a raked wall of Hardieplank.

Does hardy planking have to be painted? Or can it be left raw upon installation. Im putting it on a barn im building and i like the raw look.

You can leave it primed and it'll be fine!

When installing the aluminum wrap or putting aluminum flashing behind the butt joints, do you still need to caulk the butt joints. Question 2, what is the recommended caulking for James Hardie siding and do you use the same caulk around windows and doors as you do at the butt joints?

You do not need to caulk the butt joints where there is flashing. There are multiple caulks you can use, but we use DAP Dynaflex 920.

You don't need to caulk but the ends should be primed/painted.

We mostly install ColorPlus boards with pre-painted edges. But yes, any cuts should be painted as well.

How many man hours for a 2700sf siding project?

Way to many variables to give an accurate answer on YT.

This is a moving target. There are a TON of variables that can change this answer - house complexity, height, site conditions, materials just to name a few.. With that in mind, let’s say you have a 5 person crew and a pretty "normal" house. It could take anywhere from 3-7 days, so rough estimate 150-350 hours.

Hardie board lap siding is supposed the be nailed to the wall studs and the ends of the Z flashing should be bent up so the water will run off instead of down.

Z flashing is bent up, behind the HardiePlank. Horizontal flashing should promote promote proper drainage, not allowing moisture to pool on top of the flashing.
