Love your work, as always. Would be interested to see how efficiencyefying your systems impacts your oxygen balance, as others have mentioned. I also really love the idea of a Crash Landed scenario in Stationeers, where you have to put up, say, a sat dish to contact rescuers, a launch pad/runway for the rescue rocket/spaceplane to land with a beacon or something nearby. Then you have to survive x days from making contact till the rescue ship arrives. Not for nothing, but surviving 30+ days from a brutal start on Vulcan while waiting for rescue is a pretty good effort. Bless the rank buttfungus for adding its blessed stench to your O2 tank.
I've tried this. There's 0.5 mol O2 per 1g of gold. With plants and nutrition, you just can't produce O2 fast enough to sustain both water production and have enough to breathe. You end up needing a heap of potatoes, and really, they don't produce O2 fast enough. You can do it with ferns added, and of course, darga ferns are king of o2 production but require trade. Personally, I feel trade is a necessary evil here. Use it to get what you need to be self sustainable. I get his point about being stranded here but yeah trade is there for a reason, why not use it to get purely a few ferns, get O2 production up and start becoming positive with both water and O2 production.

@brainsquashed Yeah, editing the start conditions to include ferns would be marginal, but a huge help. I can get it working with a heap of ferns, so with the existing, I'd rush trade, get ferns in the pots ASAP and pray that can be expanded quickly enough before running out of O2. Might try a new playthrough doing that and see what happens. Potatoes alone just sap too much water for the oxygen produced. Ferns seem to profit slightly. Very slightly if you have your H2 combustor as efficient as possible. I had to get a second water filter up as well, just to produce water quickly enough. That was with about 50 pots at that point, tho lol

Which would allow you to mine whenever you want if that is the case. Plus, I know in the past you said to me that you aren't big in working with others on MMO games. But if you happen to change your mind and might be interested in a game I am supporting during its development. I would be happy to buy you a game starter package since base building is coming to the game as well as crafting to and you might like to try it someday.
Any reason to NOT set the volume pump to 100 when trying to empty a gas tank? I was under the impression that while a pressure difference influences the rate at which the gas is moved from A to B, the setting of the volume pump goes up to 100 for a reason.
As others have said, could you not capture the offgas oxygen from gold. Either from the arc furnace or from a separate gold specific furnace heated via a heat exchanger to avoid the oxygen reacting with the volatiles in the atmosphere?
@@grandcookie2250 the point is it’s an untapped source of oxygen on Vulcan that can be recovered to create more water and to breathe. Degassing all the gold in a purpose built furnace with no volatiles with which it can combust creates a source of oxygen that can be used elsewhere. It’s a small amount but all adds up to make more water and breathable air.
@@Bradrackas Someone pointed out in another comment that the result is 0.5 mol O2 per 1g of gold; far from sustainable, and minimal at best toward extending the timer until you run out of oxygen because the potatoes don't produce fast enough to sustain with the plants and nutrition mod. If you want to play brutal Vulcan with the mod and no trade I fear ferns are probably something that will need adding into the minimal starting kit.

For the record: If you were playing "Until I can get rescued" trade is a viable option here. Imagine this: libertarian hell-scape. You have to PAY to get rescued. You don't have access to your accounts off-planet so you have to raise the funds for yourself. You have to choose a trader and sell them a threshold of goods to pay for them to land a ship that has life support to evac you (remember the ones you trade with are robots).
I'm curious as to why didn't you off gas your gold in to the h2 combustor to supplement the O2 coming from the plants... just might have covered your short fall, unless I'm missing something which is fairly likely🤔😜
That much foliage in your underwear has GOT to itch. When you make a todo board, put down to test if flying closer to the black hole will increase the growth amount/speed. Also test if foot cheese can be a suitable potting material.
In this mod, plants return about 25% of consumed water back to atmo, did you consider it in your math? Also, you could recapture and filter unprocessed gasses from water combustor and forge instead of blowing it outside. You got too used to easy builds instead of efficient ones :p
Yah, I was afraid that with the mod it would not be net positive on oxygen.... if it was like a break even, you could exploit not eating or drinking, and healing with cryo chamber, that would be a hell of a way to survive xD
If I had started with genetics from the start I might have been better off. Reduce the water and increase the oxygen, but 30 days might not have been enough.
Honestly I am not certain how crotch fungus is more legitimate than running the trading gameplay loop OR going with the never used gene splicing functions in the game. Edit: Making the plants use less water and produce more oxygen are certainly options and might just have been the difference in survival.
Just should of traded for some oxite or something, not seeing much difference at this point with crotch fungus and just using a game mechanic built into the game lol. Trade. Small traders sell ice. And since you’re already using mods , the trader mod that gives you more traders…

Turbo pumps go up to 100. Volumes pumps go up to 10.

That's just a 1 time oxygen deposit, it doesn't solve any permanent issues

CO2 cooler was supposed to be 3650kpa, not 3450kpa.
I am good at that sort of mistake. It wont matter if it is a little colder. That is not enough to condense the CO2.

Disappointing you had to take a shortcut, but still a lot of fun to watch.

A condensation valve was one of the first things I set up to racapture the water from the room.
