Nice video, very informative and interesting of course. I am 69 yrs old and have had 2 horses, one 22 hr old AQHA quarter horse is still with me. We live in Alberta in western Canada and used to ride in the beautiful Rocky Mountains nearby. My horse has a very hard working history in working with cattle, ranching, rodeo pick up work, competitive barrels and such because he is so fast. He has some arthritis now and so is retired. He is a gorgeous bright luminescent red/sorrel/chestnut colour like Rising Star. I don’t ride anymore due to age and fear of injuries so I but just enjoy spending time grooming, ground work and playing hide and seek in a hilly pasture with a shelter in it. I use him as an extremely safe, ‘honest’ horse to introduce little kids, especially girls to learn confidence and safe handling, basic equine daily care and beginnings of horsemanship. Chip (his barn name) is HIGHLY intelligent, has a solid work ethic that quarters are famous for and he has a great memory. Chip enjoys going for walks, being turned loose to gallop down the hill so beautifully and as I am learning, playing games. I miss riding so much I can’t tell you. That said, if I ever consider getting another riding horse it will definitely be a Friesian at the top of my list. Such showy, smooth, high stepping beauties with that draft temperament. Makes me want to saddle up again. ❤️🐴🇨🇦

I am not surprised by Risey! He's thinking like a young stallion instead of a young colt. He is feeling the first inkling of interest in mares and figured Uniek would put up with his antics. It wouldn't be unusual if mem kicked young stud to remind him of his place!

Yvonne you are always full of surprises there really isn’t anything equine related you can’t do thank you for the mini science lesson it was very interesting. That was just a bit hard to watch! But very educational. There is SO much work to do with owning horses. As for Risey, he acts like a 13 year old boy testing his mom! Definitely ready to separate from mom if he keeps that up. 😊

I never realized the amount of work that went into the care of your horses. From the hours it takes to wash and groom each horses to checking for worms or skin problems. Making sure their shoes are maintained; dental work, exercising, training, feeding. You all work long hours cheerfully and humanely with each animal. It’s awesome to watch in the videos. 👍🏻. Goedzo
That was interesting to see how you check for worms. Although, I must admit I kept scrunching my nose and gagging a little watching Yvonne pick up poop samples. I can see why it was probably time to wean Risey.. He reminded me of toddlers trying to jump and play on their parents back. I'm sure that was getting annoying to Uniek even though she was being a sweet mama and not kicking him off. Thanks again, Yvonne for another informative video.

Well , thank you, I haven’t had breakfast yet, and now, I don’t want any. Which is good, I have to go in for fasting blood tests! 😃 ☹️😣🙂 I am so glad I don’t work in bacteriology anymore!! But I am glad that they have simplified this whole process so that the stables can do their own testing. Yup! Risey is growing up and away from the Queen. Time for him to establish his own kingdom. What a grand story this has become! Wonder who will become his Queen?

How often do you test them for worms? As for RS bullying his mom, we would call him a brat (møgunge in Danish). Did she put him in his place - couldn't see if she did.
He is actually just trying to dominate her here. He is a stallion, and she is a mare, and he is coming of age. He is still a little too young at the time of this video to try to mate with her, but he will later if he is not separated.
How very interesting. I will tell you this...to see Rein not only taking interest but accomplishing this task to perfection is wonderfully refreshing to see...My grandson who is 11 & granddaughter who is 9...basically spend hours on their tech gadgets playing games...& they live on a big piece of country land by the lighthouse on the lake...w a big dog...sigh.

Definitely time to start keeping Rising Star from his foster mom. In the wild, it is so very much extremely rare for a stallion to try and mate with his mother. That it is almost pretty much zero of it occurring.
Thank you @ stop the cap. Rising Star was just showing clear dominance to his mom, but we see who’s the big baby once weaning starts. He knows who his mother is he watches the respect that the other horses give her and he’s just showing off. She want him to be a leader like her. They have their own language and we are just spectators. She’s a true leader and great mother she’s not going to break his spirit. She showing him how to be a leader.

You unfortunately cannot do that. It then creates worms resistant to dewormer. You want to confirm it is necessary and need to know which deworming treatment to use.
When Risey gets older are you going to train him or have him trained for competition? And if trained, would you ride him, get someone else to, or give your daughter the opportujity if she is old enough?

This was an excellent vlog! It shows how well the horses at Stal G are cared for. Young Rein has really grown over the past year! It is absolutely wonderful to see all of the younger generation - everyone’s children - so engaged and so willing to learn both the equestrian side, riding, grooming and handling as well the science of maintaining the horses’ health! Yvonne is such a wonderful, patient teacher of the children, interns & horses! ❤️❤️❤️

When we had horses our vet came to our 10 acre farm and breed our animals plus check all animals for worms and mites took blood samples check hoof’s , teeth ,heart and lungs and the grain we feed them.

I never realized the amount of work that went into the care of your horses. From the hours it takes to wash and groom each horses to checking for worms or skin problems. Making sure their shoes are maintained; dental work, exercising, training, feeding. You all work long hours cheerfully and humanely with each animal. It’s awesome to watch in the videos. 👍🏻. Goedzo

That was interesting to see how you check for worms. Although, I must admit I kept scrunching my nose and gagging a little watching Yvonne pick up poop samples. I can see why it was probably time to wean Risey.. He reminded me of toddlers trying to jump and play on their parents back. I'm sure that was getting annoying to Uniek even though she was being a sweet mama and not kicking him off. Thanks again, Yvonne for another informative video.

Well , thank you, I haven’t had breakfast yet, and now, I don’t want any. Which is good, I have to go in for fasting blood tests! 😃 ☹️😣🙂 I am so glad I don’t work in bacteriology anymore!! But I am glad that they have simplified this whole process so that the stables can do their own testing. Yup! Risey is growing up and away from the Queen. Time for him to establish his own kingdom. What a grand story this has become! Wonder who will become his Queen?

He is actually just trying to dominate her here. He is a stallion, and she is a mare, and he is coming of age. He is still a little too young at the time of this video to try to mate with her, but he will later if he is not separated.
How very interesting. I will tell you this...to see Rein not only taking interest but accomplishing this task to perfection is wonderfully refreshing to see...My grandson who is 11 & granddaughter who is 9...basically spend hours on their tech gadgets playing games...& they live on a big piece of country land by the lighthouse on the lake...w a big dog...sigh.

Definitely time to start keeping Rising Star from his foster mom. In the wild, it is so very much extremely rare for a stallion to try and mate with his mother. That it is almost pretty much zero of it occurring.

He isn't attempting to mate as there is no sign of arousal like erection and neither is the mother resisting. This is just a dominance play.
Thank you @ stop the cap. Rising Star was just showing clear dominance to his mom, but we see who’s the big baby once weaning starts. He knows who his mother is he watches the respect that the other horses give her and he’s just showing off. She want him to be a leader like her. They have their own language and we are just spectators. She’s a true leader and great mother she’s not going to break his spirit. She showing him how to be a leader.

You unfortunately cannot do that. It then creates worms resistant to dewormer. You want to confirm it is necessary and need to know which deworming treatment to use.

This was an excellent vlog! It shows how well the horses at Stal G are cared for. Young Rein has really grown over the past year! It is absolutely wonderful to see all of the younger generation - everyone’s children - so engaged and so willing to learn both the equestrian side, riding, grooming and handling as well the science of maintaining the horses’ health! Yvonne is such a wonderful, patient teacher of the children, interns & horses! ❤️❤️❤️

Hahahahaha!! I had just taken my first bite of lunch when starting this video. Had to stop eating and watch instead.
When we had horses our vet came to our 10 acre farm and breed our animals plus check all animals for worms and mites took blood samples check hoof’s , teeth ,heart and lungs and the grain we feed them.
