I agree! If you like Declan, you should listen to IDKHBTFM or I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME and they're like him as a "weird" band, and I would recommend Do it all the time and Nobody likes the opening band for introduction songs

Yes yes yes yes!!!! I love Decan McKenna I'm so happy you're discovering him! I've loved him ever since he won Glastonbury's new talent competition and had record labels fighting over him aged 15/16 because of a song- Brazil- that he wrote for his music exam course. Don't expect to get Declan's lyrics straight away, they are always deep but he writes in a more abstract poetic style using almost random phrases about a topic and knitting them together. It's the feel of the message vs the explicit message he seems to go for in a lot of songs but some are more obvious than others.
Check out Paracetamol, British Bombs, Make Me Your Queen, Humongous, Why Do You Feel So Down.
He has his 2nd album coming out later this year too so ideal time to check him out.

YO Steven!! I freaking love Declan. His debut album is absolutely amazing and his lyrics are soooo good, always about important topics like politics, mental health, sexuality, racism etc. In my eyes he's kinda the modern-indie Bowie. AND he is vegan 😎

Now, I like the things you say about the song, around the message, I literally did an entire essay about it (I'm a philosopher), I do think that he is expressing the falseness and emptiness of the nowadays society due to the materialism, to say it briefly. It's amplified in his next song "The key to life on earth", which I recommend you a lot.
