@@davidchristopher5976the modern Emperors of Japan like Heisei (Akihito) and Reiwa (Naruhito) would be fine meeting you actually. They are liberals and moderates and pacifists and strong opposed to the Japanese ultranationalists, Japanese militarists, Japanese fascists, and Japanese conservatives. Even when Japanese conservatives try to conduct the “Banzai” war era cry, the Emperor of Japan avoids them.

cold welcome ?? Sure, It's obviously a reluctant welcome. I didn't know that the British people were so mean. Seriously? How could you be so historically illiterate? Those two circumstances are not the same. When the Japanese invaded those Japanese Islands they were little better than skirmishes involving few actual troops. And the prisoners that were taken were treated humanely. Meanwhile the fights between Japan and the UK were major battles and involved tens of thousands of prisoners being taken on both sides with the Japanese treating their commonwealth prisoners worse than animals. As such there was a far greater resentment in Britain, especially when the Japanese faced very little punishment and the Father of the man visiting was responsible for it all.
Maybe do some actual research before you post next time.

You can see a woman with a sign at 1:22 which reads Compensate Our POWs. Akihito and Japan in general have never made meaningful apologies or restitution to victims of their army from WWII, and have generally avoided taking responsibility, as well as at times taking a revisionist view of history which minimizes their war crimes. There is widespread evidence for this throughout the areas the Japanese occupied, not at all limited to China. It would take the combined effort of the Chinese, Americans, British, Indians, French, Dutch, Filipinos, Koreans, Australians, New Zealanders and virtually every nation in Southeast Asia and Oceania to successfully fabricate enough evidence to trick the world into thinking that Japan was the single most brutal combatant in the Second World War. That's tinfoil hat-level of conspiracy; a completely infeasible and unprecedented level of international cooperation between western democracies and the People's Republic of China that would only be possible in an apologist's wildest wet dreams. Considering that we are often so quick to criticise China and are rather dependent on Japanese brands here in the west (especially here in the UK), what would we have to gain from colluding with a belligerent, uncooperative one-party dictatorship against a friendly, stable and prosperous East Asian democracy?

Im sure akihito and the empress did not even see those signs. None of these royal familes read the signs nor akihito was responsible for the war. His father Hirohito was the person of blame and the empire of japan he had built. It was wartime and the emperor himself had no visibility of what things occured in POW camps governed by Empire of Japan forces. It was fierce and bitter war and both sides were notoriously cruel to each other. After all, it was war. The british were also known to starve japanese POWs in their camps but it all depends on what happened on how Japanese POWs got captured. If it was an intense firefight between british and japanese forces and the british won the fight and took prisoners and the british had some severe losses, I am sure the british would have had no mercy on japanese infantry. Most of the time, japanese pow's commited one last stands and they took more lives with them as they commit suicide rather than surrender. I lived in Japan for several years and met a lot of japanese ww2 veterans. I can tell you that the ones who saw combat will never tell talk about the war unless you were either close family to them, brothers of war who fought alongside with them or if you were the emperor himself. The ones who did not see combat are usually the ones that talk about the war.

When he robs 10000 man he becomes the knight. When he robs a country he becomes a king. And when he robs the whole world, he becomes the king of the British Empire. When British empire got ass kicked by another empire, then the old decaying empire started to cry about injustice. But he forgot, he was the one who committed more robberies and caused more death and tortures than the rest of the world combined.

Whether you agree with it or not, these areas were recognised by the international community as being British sovereign territory. When the Japanese attacked them in December 1941, this was considered as an act of war upon the United Kingdom. Simple as that. Regardless of how the British may have initially acquired them, it isn't relevant to the question.

    • @flyingdutchman2649
      @flyingdutchman2649 6 лет назад +12

Why isn't relevant? A thief entered someone else's house by force and stayed there long enough. Then another stronger thief entered the house and kicked the original thief out. The old thief then was crying about it. Who were the international committees at that time? you probably know the clear answer for that. The league of nation. They were nothing but some old imperialists who try to preserve their imperial possessions over their colonies. That's why it is soooo necessary to mention how British acquired those territories in the first place. Because the international committees have no legitimacy over the people of those "British territories". Not saying Japanese did nothing wrong. But I really don't see how British has any rights to say anything about that. Since British were the thief in the first place. So it is extreme hypocrisy to judge what Japanese did, since they were just doing what exactly British did before.

Well this comment section is a shit show. Holy fuck. Here is my two sense, a lot of these comments are talking about how the Brits are hypocritical for booing the Emperor because of his fathers actions. And then completely demonise the veterans for their fathers actions. Listen, both the British Empire and the Japanese Empire did evil things and can both be equally argued for being evil for the exact same reasons, i.e Japan's Nanking to Britains Indian Rebellion, 1857, Japans Human right violating POW camps during WW2 to Britains concentration camps in both Boer wars 1879-1915. The veterans here are angry at how their comrades were treated in WW2 so they decided to blame the closest relative they can find, short sighted maybe, but for the people in the comment section to blame every single British citizen for what their grandfathers and great grandfathers have done compared to Akihito's father had done is also short sighted. Point being, bad things happen all around the world, involving all nations, all creeds and all cultures and that's just how it is, but to blame everything to do with an entire group of people because of the actions of a select and very dead few is stupid on all sides. But hey thats just my opinion

We only have to work with what we have making conclusions based on it
A handful of prisioners of war were treatwd badly and now protest in the name of it , that is it, what happened in the past and they had nothing to do with has nothing to do with the protest itself taking into account that it is based out of their personal experience
