OMG! Thank you for addressing the waterproof cap on charger! I could not figure it out! Glad to hear you say you were a little defeated also! Have a feeling I’ll be logging on a lot…🤷♀️
Sir, I have bmw ix. i have bmw portable fast charger of 11 kv but after plugging to my ev it shows only 2 kv is charging per hour. how to increase the speed if charging?
My issue exactly… had my electrician install 240v outlet and after plugging it in the front of the charger is facing the wall (just like in the video) and can’t properly mount it to the wall?!?!?!
Excellent video. I got word yesterday that my new i4 is on the boat and on its way. Not fully understanding the different charging options has been my main source of anxiety, as this is my first EV. BTW, the floor tiles in your fabulous garage are 1 foot squared. Much easier to use those for measuring cables, garden hoses and such than a tape measure. 😊 Congrats on your iX. Those are just superb!
Great question. I haven’t seen any adapter after some looking. However there’s aftermarket plug adapters (look at RV suppliers) that can convert from 14-30 to 14-50R that should be safe to use.
As a follow-up, I’ve been using this with my i4 and it’s great. However, I cannot disconnect the plug adapter from the charging brick. I installed it like is shown at about 2:58 - I aligned the arrows and pushed the adapter toward the brick. The collar rotated into place. But now I can’t rotate the collar the opposite way to remove the 240V plug adapter so that I can change to the 120V plug adapter. Is there a special way to do this and I’m just not seeing it?
Is this compatible with the i3? I would like to buy one for our i3 94ah to charge on 11kw (EU). The BMW homepage did not mention anything about compatibility. Thank you!
Hello I own a BMW x1 hybrid vehicle. After charging the vehicle, I don't want it to remain on power after the charge is full. Maybe it won't do any harm, I don't know, but it's not something I want. If I put a socket with a timer and set the time, would it be harmful if it cuts off the electricity at a certain time? Normally, it says in the manual that when the charge is finished, first remove the charging cable from the vehicle and then cut off the electricity. I will cut off the electricity first by using a timer. Will this cause any damage? Or is it necessary? I would be very happy if you answer. Thank you.
In the video you can see the NEMA 14-50 connector (and you even say 14-50), but in another comment you mentioned it comes with a 14-30. Was this an oversight and you meant 14-50? My question really is did we see all the connector heads? I’m wondering if it ships with a NEMA 6-50. Trying to decided what to install ahead of the car delivery and would prefer the 6-50 for the savings, where there is absolutely no advantage with the 14-50. Thank you.
It's a nema 14-50. My bad if I mispoke. I personally would go w/ the 14-50 as that one a tesla comes w/ as well as the iX. 6/50 works but imho is less common & u could end up having to buy adapters in order to use the 6/50 - unless you go w/ a dedicated charger like a clipper creek. Here's the clipper creek I have plugged into the same NEMA14/50. ruclips.net/video/9tbvjF0250c/видео.html
So the charging equipment that came with the car that you showed is not capable of Level 2 charging, correct? I still need to buy a charging hardware to set up a Level 2 station in my house. Please clarify.
Mine is a 40amp circuit as that's all the space I had left in my fusebox. Would def prefer the 50amp breaker and larger wire. I had electrician install and don't recall the gauge
I am getting my new i4 eDrive40 tomorrow. With it comes the flexible charger as well. What’s the rate of charge or range per hour it’s charging your batteries to?
P.S. charging time decreased drastically, nearly by double, from 6 hour to nearly 3 hours. But you need to you 3 phase socket, if you use 1 phase you get same time result.
thanks very helpful. we have an i3 with an iX on the way as well! good to know that they are including the 14-50 vs 6-50 adapter. i also ordered a wall mount kit for the flexible fast charger to tidy things up a bit. reasonably priced at
Same. Would love to know where you can buy a wall mount kit so you can keep the cord tidy and also securely hang up the flexible fast charger brick and the charger/EVSE handle.

Can you mount the charger on the wall with the front facing you without twisting the power cable? The back of the charger is facing you in the video.

really good charger, having one you do not need any chagrin station. Here in Europe it charges up to 11kW, at home with mobile charger is great value.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
Thank you for this. Incidentally, much to my surprise, this is provided with the '23 MINI SE.
Nice
This NEMA cable is only for USA ? I never see this cable to sell in Portugal.
Would this work on other branded cars like Lexus?

Rotate the base of the adapter counter clockwise and then pull.
@@chuckvossler9010 right, I’ve tried. The collar doesn’t rotate much at all.

iX charge port area due to the angle, does it hold water when charging outside during rain?
It has a little drain hole at the bottom of the opening just like the i3
