Standing at 19.3 hands (6ft 6in) tall this giant Clydesdale is Britain's real life War Horse. Queen's horse Digger, Britain's tallest, is being put through his paces with the royal regiment. Stationed with the Household Cavalry in Hyde Park Barracks, it is hoped 145 stone horse will take part in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations as a Drum Horse in June. With his head up strapping eight-year-old Digger measures close to 9ft and his hooves measure 15in across. He eats up to four stones of food per day and guzzles 25 gallons of water. Princes William and Harry are also serving members of the Household Cavalry Regiment as Blue and Royal Officers. Previously Digger shared the title of Britain's tallest horse with shire Duke, who has since passed away.
He looks gentle, despite being such a huge boy. :) The other horse is like: 'Why do you always get all of the attention?!' [bites]
Norse Dragonhunt yeh digger looks so gentle and chill
Top
the size of his hooves!! 0-0
Awwwww! Digger looks like a wonderful horse, a sweetheart. I'm glad he got a good home!
OMG 😱 This guy came from World Horse Welfare. He was a rescue case! I can’t believe he’s ACTUALLY the tallest horse in Britain and he almost DIED. He was lame in his hind legs at first, I guess they managed to sort it through surgery. There is a video about his case on the WHW RUclips channel
In Britain? Then how tall is the TALLEST horse in the WORLD? omg, this gets scarier by the second
0:35 It just springs into my mind that ... Richard Hammond need that kind of stepper (or whatever it is) to clean and groom his hors(es) :)))
Look at my horse!

MASSIVE!!!!
What kind of measurement is 18 hands? What happened to feet & inches?
he's nuts, you've have to get everything specially made for him, like a saddle and rugs and shoes and how do they get his haynet up there?
a "hand" is 4 inches.
I know stallions are massive, but this is reficulous
He is a gelding but he is massive
Imagine riding that horse *-*

Why do you put shoes on your horse it cuts off the blood flow by 88% i know because my mom and dad are very very well known vets in the us and itd very inhumane
this horse too big
my hamster is taller
18 hands tall? Throw that shit away and join the far superior metric system. We started integrating the metric system as early as 1878 here in Sweden.
Feets, hands, inches, stones, pounds, miles, yards..
Metric system is taught in all schools across the UK. All scientific work in the UK is also metric. The only use of hands I have ever heard of is in horses and that's just tradition. I'm sure if you do a little research you with find that even in Sweden horses are measured this way - but nowadays most horses in competitions are measured in both hands and metres/centimetres. Horses can be difficult to measure and, as I'm sure you're aware, conversions of hands/inches to metres/centimetres would be impractical as they give decimals. You will find that in equestrian competitions, horses must be under or over a certain height (in hands) for certain classes. If the rules were changed and converted to cm it would mean there would have to be a lot of rounding of decimals etc - it is simply impossible to measure a horse that accurately. As a result, horses may end up in classes they have never competed in and it would be so much bother rearranging things.
So, yes, the metric system may be superior... however, in equestrian competition it is simply impractical.
DannysDoos oh ok, thanks for the info. I am not really a big fan of horses or anything related to them, clicked on the video mostly to see a huge horse, and the hand measurement bugged me. =/
skinny horse kinda
Hayley Ward ..no
that is a nice size horse. if i had a french mustache i would twirl it in my fingers and stare at that hore is my approval :D
Tamar Murphy
Girl, you're hilarious ! 😂😂😂
0:27 was that horse gonna bite the other horse? XD
Nah
Wait yep
Ya duh what do you think
@@theindoraptor1338 yes. Horses will nip and bite each other.
Really nice gelding.. Shame that he will not be able to pass along his pedigree and be able to breed.
Horses that are that tall suffer from a lot of health issues...
***** Exactly.
j d ....is it a practice to save semen to freeze prior to gelding, in case the genetic lines are good?
welp, that sucks.
@Karen Reed oh, ok, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you for the explanation. 🤗💕
What a beautiful horse! We (The USA Clydesdale Preservation Foundation) have our own RUclips channel if you would like to see some of our Clydesdales.
someday, i will have my own horse :)

Jemma Chislett no that draft horse wasn't I no I have read everything about horse's ,draft horse's and ponies🐎🐴🏇
When your friend gets out of the stable to get groomed and you're still stuck in it, yeah, you bite.

Jemma Chislett he went to bite him but didn't.
I would love to ride a horse that size I dont really like small ponies i like big Horses/Thoroughbreds/SHIRES and horses around that size or bigger
There is a horse at my barn who is 19.1

He’s not that tall, compared to the world tallest, iv seen horses nearly as big as that, don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about iv been ridding for quite a long while, not trying to be mean
6ft6 at the shoulders. So around 9.5ft tall are the top of head.....crazy beautiful.
It's so nice to see Digger went to a good home
not Britain's tallest horse cause I've met a horse who is bigger than that and my sister rode him plus my friend fell off of him and broke her leg and arm
Ce cheval géant est vraiment magnifique !!!
The draft horses at my stable is probs a tiny bit bigger than that horse. He is so cute tho!
Guys, stop being narky! I just want to know how old the horse is. Anybody?
Machru he's 8, it says in the description
brhuuuuu that horse is not facking talllll😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💦💦💦💦💦WTTFFFFF HAPPENNDDDDD TO THE WORRLLDLDLDLSDD
Frida Lundholm it is for a horse
If it was your horse, you'd be able to back up the claims, rather than sitting there name-calling like a child.
Why don't YOU look up something for a change? Google it, it's quite easy.
Tbh I didn't like how he called the horse his project lmao
zz
He said priority, not project.
prehistoric horses were very small, i was telling someone week last.
they cut all his feather of poor thing it would make him look better if he had it and the feather let the rain run of his legs better
i want a lion and a dog when im older and go round my parents house and say"mum , dad, ive got a lion and its best friends with a dog :D
You'd be able to say what his name is so you could back up the claim, rather than calling everyone names. Wouldn't you?
I would NOT want to fall off of that horse.
he got taken back to the world horse welfare, hes there just now :( i saw him on wednesday hes very spunky!!
Ahahahah my horse broke my toes
ive read all the guiness world record books and i see no 21.2 hands high shire x stallion so stop lying
that is one tall horse...i'd need a freaking step ladder just to get on, i'm 4'11 in height xD
I have this strange love for horses (AS PETS, you sick pervs)so this video made me happy.(:
OMG is that digger from world horse welfare :o :D
huge but gentle giant

LEPO
He isn't biggest horse that's a shire they are the biggest horses XD
Whatever happened to Digger, Used to hear about him all the time
I thought it said smallest horse if it was I'd be like how tall are the tall horses
They is a hell of a lots of Horse Fajitas right there baby!!! Yum :)
My dad knew a Clydesdale horse, he was 20 hands (7 feet) so he was the tallest horse in Britain...But now he's dead.
Well it was 7 feet so around 20 hands.
Oh shit! If that's the size of the horse how big is it's shit?
i wonder if ha has a contest of crown prince with williams????
steady, come provide support
Can I please have your horse for a month?
Looks like easy to jump on this horse hahahahaha
Holy crap, this horse is huge! wow
The only problem they eat like 2 horses
OMG! Digger is my best friend!!! I see him like every day! But I did not know he was the tallest!!!
He's narrow and leggy like a moose! Assuming he's as sound as he looks, he must be able to really cover some ground. I hope he gets driven or ridden daily and is not treated like a spoiled pet.
OMG I've been near lots of big horses BUT NOT LIKE THAT
Dong hVe a clue what hes saying!!
it must be reeeeaaalllyyy hard 2 put his saddle on
They don't wear saddles😂
He does, he is a drum horse so has a rider.
Simonè Bos well you could use a ladder😂😂
I want a Budweiser now. Someone let me borrow 20$?
Lol the way he says 19 hands and the black level thing .this guy is cool
Lol my horse is 19hh I'm 4ft7 she is a huge horse and I need to stand on the lawnmower to mount its a nightmare xd
horses are measured in hands, which equal 4 inches
He's such a big boy :D
Don't use a dandy brush on a horse's head fools!!
sad they shoe him.. but he's BEAUTIFUL!!! so big
I think that's only done for certain occasions.
It's probably a couple of Tesco burgers by now.
that is what i call i war horse right their
I'd really rather not...I'm afraid of heights.
So the breed is Clydesdale? 0:12 It's exactly 1.95 meters, not "just about" 2 meters wich is 6ft 8in.
As it came up ... why on earth do people use hands and feets into measurements ? It's a fucked up useless unprecise sistem that only imperial minded (Clearly US and UK) still use imperial sistem.
It's not a recognised system so in this regard the 2 countries still are in the imperial age :) and have no measuring sistem :)
Hand and feet =)))) ...
If you do a little research you will find that all schools in the UK teach metric ;) measuring horses in hands is tradition. By saying "about 2m" it is simply giving those without knowledge of horses a rough idea of his height. I think saying "about 2m" is very reasonable. When measuring this horse's height it would've been taken in m/cm (as precise as possible) and in hands (hh). As aforementioned in a previous comment, it is difficult to measure a horse's height and so measuring in hands can - in a way - be more practical.
DannysDoos
How it is more practcal to use a VERY unprecise unit to measure a (supposedly hard) horse ? It makes hard even harder :) It might (for morons) be "romantic" but nowhere near practical :) Also ... it's good you teach metric BUT then,WHY OH WHY you use miles, mph, mpg, feet for human highs, inches etc ?
It's just stupid to invent a measuring sistem, imprecise and not hole :) :
1 mile = 1.6 km
1 inch = 2.5 cm
1 feet = 30 cm (some say 33)
What with all this ? When you're asked the time, you reply the hour & minutes, you don't say : ooooh, there's 874 minutes and 30 seconds gone from today ...
It's a stupid think and i don't think why you keep using it.I feel a waaay to big ego in "here"
motanelustelistu Since I replied politely but your reply is rude... I shall not hold back. Firstly, you will find that 6'6" is in fact 198.9cm... so yes, that is "about 2m". I don't think it is really necessary to go into that much detail, however, so I think it is reasonable to say he is "about 2m". Secondly, those units weren't "invented" in relation to metric units... they are older than metric! Thirdly, you have clearly never measured a horse you absolute buffoon. There is no point in measuring horses in very precise units... it is so impractical, you "moron". A horse's height fluctuates so much, depending on how long its hooves have been left to grow, how tense it is, etc etc. I repeat, there is next to no point in trying to measure a horse in cm/m. I am a veterinary student and will go on to become an equine surgeon - I can confirm that what I'm saying about horses is definitely correct.
Finally, your point about time is so irrelevant so do please explain what you mean. Also, please revise your "1 mile = 1.6km, 1 inch = ...." because they are very "imprecise" and I'm pretty sure that's what your whole point was. Moron.
Oh and to add to this... metric units are used extensively through out the United Kingdom but imperial units are kept for certain things. It really makes no difference. All modern cars have speedometers with both "km/h and mph" so it REALLY doesn't matter if the signs are in miles or kilometers. Please remember that units are all relative and it doesn't really matter what you use.
I'm guessing you aren't from a scientific background as you can't seem to get your head round this. You may want to do a little research before you make stupid comments.
p.s. this argument is so pointless :)
why have you cut off his feather that's one of the main features of the clydesdale
It might be the way they have to look. It can take a lot of time to groom/keep clean the feather, especially on a Clydesdale
I go to a barn and they a bigger horse
rip duke the former tallest horse
I thought my old horse was big, she was 17.3hh and a gentle giant also a Clydesdale
