@@DavidJones-sc6jcCome on, just listen to their more recent interviews, they're super articulate and very intelligent, especially Ian has a wide knowledge on a lot of various subjects including history, of course music, spirituality, politics and so on.
Jamie Stewart is a very underrated bassist (& rhythm guitarist too!). Awesome that The Cult allowed him to play on the encore songs on the 'Love' album 25th Anniversary Tour! Great IT software programmer from what I hear. Hope he gets to ROCK the bass again on a few songs on the Sonic Temple 30th Anniversary Tour too! (IF & when they plan one-THEY SHOULD! )
I was a huge fan in the 80s but only got to see them once in that decade. Love tour at the Riviera in Chicago in spring of 1986 (and again in 2007 though without Jamie). We spent hours and hours in the general admission line at the Riviera we could be up against the stage for the show. Mindblowing - really! I remember Jamie whipping around that bass with a neck that seemed extra long. It was really psychedelic with a strobe light for The Phoenix. In this interview here he seems like such a polite and nice looking English gentleman. He could be cast as an earnest young pilot in The Battle of Britain movie.
He seems like the "quiet one" in the CULT. The John Deacon or Alan Wilder factor. At least he was on the classic albums. And no I'm not mocking the Cult's recent albums.
First impression of Jamie Stewart: Intelligent. Plus I'm relieved he doesn't treat the interviewer with contempt or disrespect that MANY other musicians/artists did back then - wait for it though please - even though many interviewers deserved to be treated that way. We all know the music industry was the biggest gravy train on the tracks back then and still is unfortunately i.e. one only has to listen to Roger Waters from Pink Floyd lyrics to 'Have A Cigar' to understand the music biz; 'And did we tell you the name of the game, boy? We call it "Riding The Gravy Train". It means the music industry creates people who maggot money...people who make an art of being 'hangers-on'. Such people are essentially parasites. They somehow obtain $ by doing essentially nothing of importance or by being part of the 'team' who produce music. Anyway back to Jamie Stewart. Very down to earth. I would almost put a bet on that he remained like this for most of his career and in fact probably hasn't changed a bit. Unlike most of his peers.
He decided to leave after Sonic Temple tour. Things were getting a bit wild in the band (rising tension between Astbury & Duffy). He also wanted to move into music production. He'd also got married so I think he wanted to settle down too. Both Ian & Billy really missed him and it was great to see Jamie join The Cult on stage for a couple of songs on a recent UK tour.

was he on wages he wasn't a song writer he got out at the right time i bet he earns more money now in business. And he still has his hearing think the other members went deaf and made some seriously shite music They shit on Nigel Preston and refuse to release dreamtime at the lyceum on DVD why is that i wonder
Jamie does not seem like a usual rocknroll wild cat, the way he speaks is more like a teacher or a sciencist. Very intelligent and articulate.
Now working in IT !
Agree! Ian and Billy seem very intelligent too when I've seen them in interviews.
@@neekerbreeker
Sorry, Billy and Ian seem more like blokes working in gas station.
Jamie, Ian and Billy are all super intelligent to me. That is why they are such a great group. Great minds work together.

I like Jamie a lot. He is a great guitarist. He is lucky to have been in The Cult with Ian, Billy and the drummer!!
They were also very lucky to have him🤘
Excellent bassist and one of my influences!!

@@markroberts8538 oh wow.....been wondering about him. My fav bass player for the band also of course!
@@suzi8277 he is on facebook and often posts videos and updates..
@@markroberts8538 oh ok, thanks!
Great bassist and the Cult is not as good without him in my humble opinion
I agree, he is a bass god.
Not only a super bassist but with a stage presence as good as Ian and Billy.
Absolutely. They shouldn't have tried to turn him into an employee. Pure hubris
@zen Ah. Gotcha. The way I heard it , from Sonic Temple Ian and Billy were like "We own everything we're putting you on a salary" and he said F you
He really is one of the first and foremost bassists in rock. And
also one of the most underrated, under appreciated bassist!

He was literally so adorable
As in he deserved literal adoration? A shrine with candles and the works?
Jamie Stewart,na minha humilde opinião é um dos maiores e melhores baixistas de todos os tempos,THE CULT FOREVER
Jamie Stewart!! Come back to us
The first song I ever heard form The Cult was Horse Nation. I remember thinking ... "that's some monster bass"
He's precious

I really liked the lineup with jamie and les warner. how and why did jamie ever get dismissed?

The first guy questioned is ridiculously annoying.
Is Ian Grant related to Peter Grant? Grant's are great music managers to say the least.
Years ago I had a friend who went to school with Jamie (my claim to fame).
Where’s this being interviewed at? The unemployment office.
new romantic look
Cute
