Hi, my name is Cindi and I just discovered your podcast. Loving your colours and the variety of your projects. I am Canadian and live in Nova Scotia, Canada and am loving all of your references to Cdn yarn community. I too love Sonder Yarns and have enjoyed watching their growth. Now, they are relatively close to me (Montreal, Quebec), but I find that their customer service is quick and efficient. So lots to love. I have subscribed! I love your nature segments and the colour, the colour.
Thank you do much!! I’m a big fan of Canada 🇨🇦 growing up in Minnesota a lot of people referred to it as Canada lite ☺️ thank you for joining this community!
You have amazing projects going. I love all your choices of patterns and the yarn and colors. This is my first time watching you and I am excited to watch your progress.
Suggestion for the X-stitch: don’t make each X by itself. Make a natural section in one direction, then come back and do the other direction (I rotate 90 degrees for this so the back threads are spread out and not piled up.). Always cross thread the same way unless you want a different effect! Can’t wait to see it!
You just blew my mind! 🤯 I’m making my swatch for my Hey Sailor. I have SO many color swatches. I finally picked my combo and now I’m thinking I may swap the hem and neck colors for the contrast color 😲
I like the color combo on the socks! Those aren’t even my colors but I think it’s very effective! 🧦 And congrats on spinning and knitting! 🧶 ❤. Excellent episode!
Beautiful Hey Sailor top! For the thread color on the buttons, just use a darker thread and go over the orange! Also, have you ever heard of the Woolly Thistle? They are a yarn shop in New Hampshire and they have a podcast. Big into color work and Marie Wallin!
Oh my goodness that Ranunculus! 😍🤩😍 You won't believe this, but I thrifted a stunning mohair just yesterday in the colour ocre (which is perfect for me!) and I immediately thought of your ranunculus - which you wore in one of your first episodes that I watched! I am now convinced that that's my next cast on 🤩 I am in the southern hemisphere so we're experiencing lovely spring weather, but it doesn't really get very hot. I have knit a winter ranunculus with a gorgeous tweedy wool yarn and it's been perfect!.I am also in love with your Hey Sailor top 👌. I enjoy the easy colourwork. Then the Marie Wallin patterns... Oh my! I would love to try one of them, but I think I'm too new at this and perhaps I'll give myself time to build more experience before I venture there. Thanks for another superb episode!
I love your Hey Sailor. I’m working on mine. I’m using a different yarn but I am planning on making one using the recommended yarn. I really like your higher contrast choice. I think I’ll do that too for my second one.
Oh my goodness! I was saving your lovely episode for some Sunday evening knitting on the last sleeve of my Seaton and just heard your sweet shout out, thank you! I’m so inspired by your knits and it’s all I can do not to run and cast on a sailor top, stat! ❤ Happy Fall and hope our paths cross someday out in the knitting world! 🤗
I just finished my first ranunculus and after seeing yours, I think I need to make one in mohair!! Also, the Hey Sailor top might just be my first Andrea Mowry knit, it's so pretty!
I'm new here, and I love your aesthetic. I have the feeling that you are going to be one of my new favorite podcasts! I love all of your knits. Your color choices are perfection and your knitting is impeccable. The variegated yarn you are using for your colorwork cuff socks is stunning; absolutely my color palette! I can't wait to see all of your current WIPs finished. I'm glad you are enjoying the process. I'm a much slower knitter, but it is definitely therapeutic for me.❤🧶
All of the things that you showed are beautiful! I feel the same way, all I want to do, right now, is knit! I really like the socks that you showed, and I think that you made the right decision to use those two yarns together. I agree, that the stitch definition would probably have been better featured with a more solid colored yarn, and they would certainly be beautiful in a different way, but they would lack that certain "je ne sais quoi" beauty that is present and the warm feelings that they evoke, just as they are. I really hope that you will show them again when they are finished!
You’re the third person I’ve seen talk about Memory Lane! I ordered it yesterday and can’t wait to get it! I need to make the sweater that’s on the cover
Loving the WIP parade! Also I really like how those ananas socks are working up, I've seen them in the book but I didn't really like them before but I do love how yours look with the variegated yarn :)
Love this Saltwater Mittens!! They’ll be so warm for the winter. And adding a third colour is so smart As an FYI, Newfoundland is deceptively pronounced more like New-fin-LAND or New-fund-land (as opposed to New-found-land) 🇨🇦
Love all your projects and the thought and love behind your choices - you are equally as creative as Lily whose Seaton I also love. Like others here your Hey Sailor has made me want to make that design whereas before it didn’t appeal. Probably helps that I love the colours you chose, and I too love KFO’s cotton merino (who doesn’t if they’ve tried it). I’m currently knitting GogoDynamo in the Westknits MKAL and my colours are very like your Hey Sailor choices. Just love your taste and creativity, you’re one of the best Ahna Oh just remembered - to fix the thread in your buttons just sew over the top a couple times in darker thread! No need to take buttons off 😀
Oh wow 🤩 I was totally indifferent about the Hey Sailor pattern until I saw your version!! It looks absolutely beautiful on you and I love the two colours you used ❤ perfect!!
I love all your projects, they are so pretty!! Could you maybe write down the podcast you have been watching about that last sweater you‘re going to buy yarn for? Thank you 🥰
Beautiful projects! I’m doing the same thing casting on everything 😂 have you ever thought about doing a spinning series? Hey Sailor is stunning! You always make the best yarn combos
I think a spinning series would be super fun! I haven’t spun as much as I’ve wanted to recently (or like at all 🥲) so once I ease back into I’ll consider that!
Thank you for sharing all of your beautiul pieces, Wips, etc. Can you tell me how you did the bell sleeves on the Ranunculus that you are wearing? Thank you so much.
Beautiful projects! I'd like to take my basic knitting to the next level. Where do you learn (your knitting training) how to knit. Any suggestions on formal training. Thank yoU!
Honestly the way I’ve learned is just by trying new patterns with techniques I’ve never tried! And if there is a type of stitch that I don’t know how to do I just RUclips a tutorial 😊
I kept thinking how much I love the colors of your Hey Sailor and then when you said Ocher Brown I had to laugh out loud. I am knitting a sweater in KFO Ocher Brown as I watch this 😂
Hi Ahna! i just joined the discord for the brookclub KAL. I'll be knitting the Bridge vest by Anna Hull from Rowan volume 76. I'm still spinning for it.
Hello:) I am knitting now Tasselated pullover, actually i feel i have problems with that, at first it looks too small, then armholes looked to small, so I unraveled it till you starting shaping neckline. now I can't decide maybe I even need to knit body longer. And in this all vibe, I am also lost, actually i invested in nice yarn, would love to finish it, but all the time I have like: something is not okay:) looove all brown shades projects in this episode:)
@@brookwillow If you have a brown sharpie that would be perfect, obviously, but a black one will work and you're far more likely to have a black marker obv
If you mean the sweater I’m wearing it’s knitting for Olive soft silk mohair 😊 and shoot you’re right I didn’t mention the scarf yarn! I’ll have to try to find the label but it’s some sock yarn I got a few years ago
Funny you ask… I think I missed a step in the pattern? It’s supposed to be a double folded collar and I forgot to knit down the fold. But I also like the way it looks! So when it’s does I’ll try it on and see how it looks unfolded. If it’s weird I’ll just sew it down 😊
Hello, could you please give more information on what size needles you used and what yardage you used to make your Renanculus? Congratulations on your Podcast :)
Oh man, it’s been a few years since I knit this one! I may have mentioned it in a past video. I think it was the recommended needle size. I also didn’t keep track of yardage. It was leftovers from a cone!
I love all your projects. I have a question about the sailor. I want to knit it up but have issues choosing my yarns. Since you have knit it, what do you think about using knitting for olive pure silk lace weight and a similar linen color? I guess, but I am not sure, that the double linen held with silk will help to keep the silk from stretching too much. Have you ever tried a yarn along with silk yarn to hell, and it does not stretch so much? That's holding me back from starting it because I've read and heard so many people complain about how the projects they knit with pure silk stretch out too much. Do you have experience with this idea? I’m so curious. But don't want to make the mistake of choosing the wrong yarn. I want to make the sailor like your finished object. But I don't want a sweater that will stretch too much, especially a cardigan. I thought I had too many WIPs going. I sighed a little relief seeing. I'm not losing it. I'm super drawn to that pattern. I knew I had to knit it as soon as I saw it. If I could only decide on my yarns, I'd start. 🧶👍 Thanks. I'm trying to knit Christmas gifts, but I don't enjoy knitting all the time for others; they have to be knit-worthy. So, the people? I'm knitting for now. So that helps. I want at least to have one on the needles for myself. Thanks so much. I very much enjoyed this episode. I agree the mini scarf's dark color shows the lace very well. That's going to be lovely. 🧶✌️🧶
This is a very interesting question! I’ve used KFO’s pure silk for two different projects and neither of them stretched, and a different brand of silk for a different project that also hasn’t stretched 🤔 I do know when blocking with silk it should only be in the water for a couple minutes. I wonder if others blocked theirs for much longer and that caused it to stretch? I say go for it!
I hope this isn’t asking too much, but can you add the knit books you mentioned to the description? Also, i adored this video! Everything you are working on is stunning ✨ and your color choices are so inspiring.
Ahh thank you! I was looking for the headscarf pattern! But i realized you did include it, sorry about that! Thank you so much for the response anyway ❤
I wood love to also start knitting (two) stranded color work. What technique are you using/ recommending to an continental knitter? How do you keep track of the pattern?
I’m a continental knitter too! 👯 in the Aureliano I’m using stranded colorwork, for the Tessellated I’m using mosaic! I think mosaic would be great colorwork to start with because you actually only knit with one strand at a time
Absolutely lovely Ranunculus and other knits you’ve made! ❤ I’ve totally fallen in love with your aesthetics, just found your channel and subscripted. As a beginner knit youtuber I must ask, do you have some kind of ring light or other lighting equipment? And have you told already which camera do you use? 😍 The vibe in your video seems so soft and stylish at the same time. Have a lovely autumn! 🌻🍁✨
Yes I knit with single strand 😊 but unfortunately I didn’t track my yardage. I was trying to use up an old cone of mohair that I had from a previous project which made it hard to do!
Why don't you just use an embroidery floss over the top of the button thread instead of re-doing the sewing? Just pass it through once in each so that's what is visible
Your ranunculus is one of my favorites I've seen! That warm autumnal brown mohair looks so delicate and cozy.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Your knitted projects are beautiful. You will enjoy cross stitching,; it can become addictive. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! ❤️

I bought Strands Of Joy primarily for the cardigan on the cover, so I can relate! Working on getting the yarn for that so I can finally cast it on.
It’ll be such a fun one to knit! I have still yet to get the yarn for it 🙃

Your new “Halloween” sweater is sophisticated, those colors!!!! I just got some of the Ito yarn, it’s unique!
Agreed they make cool yarn! 😃 sadly I didn’t finish the sweater by Halloween so I’ll rebrand it as my Thanksgiving sweater ☺️
Your Hey Sailor is so beautiful! It reminds me of the textiles produced in the 1960s… I want you to wear it to a Charles and Ray Eames exhibit! ❤❤❤
So funny you say that… we have an Eames chair that was Mitch’s grandpas! I should take a picture sitting in it while wearing the Hey Sailor ☺️

I knit them without doing any decreases, and it naturally creates the bell shape! So just straight knitting and then bind off 😊
Go over the button threads with a black sharpie marker maybe?!
This is def what I’ll do!! 😊
I instantly want to cast on a Ranunculus!

Hi!!!! I watched this a while ago, but have a question: how much yarn was needed for your Ranunculus? Single strand knit, right? ❤
Yes I knit with single strand 😊 but unfortunately I didn’t track my yardage. I was trying to use up an old cone of mohair that I had from a previous project which made it hard to do!
For your Hey Sailor Too, you could uh…just use a sharpie to go over the embroidery thread 😂. Not super elegant but it’ll work for now.
I have done that and it worked fine just be sure whatever you use says permanent.
