i have mine in my fish tank. Only half in the water so it is not fully submerged. It is doing great! I want to try propagation now with the suggestions from this video. Thank you!
Thank you so much - brilliant video. I have nine bamboo sticks that I have in a large vase - I was already using bottled water for feeding, however I’m still getting one / two of the sticks turning yellow every now and again. I’ve just realised that the plants probably aren’t getting enough sunlight! I’ve moved the vase to a sunnier spot in the house - so hopefully this will help. 😋
Yea, sometimes it will get sick by Random luck, no matter the same conditions as other stalks. You have to think the plants like humans and other life forms. Why do you think some people get sick regardless the same conditions? Sometimes just bad luck
Yes, you will get more success rate in bright light. These plants often become yellow no matter how big of a expert we are, that often happens , we have to live with it. Just take a good care of them 😊
@@GreenBackyard I see lucky bamboo like us human. Lucky bamboo are living like humans. Eventually, they will die, but they can be propagated. It's all part of the circle of life. We get sick, they get sick. We thrive, they can thrive. We will come to an end, they will come to an end.
When my dad passed earlier this year, I took over his bamboo and it's doing well. However, it's only ever had 2 stalks. How can I make it grow more? The 2 current ones are growing tall and healthy but I wish I could grow another one that wraps around them. Also, he's always had it in a clear vase with pebbles (no soil) and I'd like to keep it like that if possible.
Rooting harmone powder is for new root growth but fertilizers work for overall plant health. It's leaves color and firmness and health etc. rooting powder can't be a substitute .
hey i have a question, i recently bought one and have been doing research i understand everything but if i have a fan on in my room will that effect the plant(my room is still warm not cold by any means) just curious or would i have to change something
It won't do any harm but plants don't like constant air blowing on them like us. If the air is too hot or too cold then it will stress the the plant otherwise not that much of worry.
thank you for the i will take this into consideration and make it where the fan spins around, its on my work desk so pointing it directly at me probably wouldnt be so good, i appreciate the information!
Hi Backyard, I've been growing lucky bamboo for almost a year. It's mostly in water. Some of the leaves are losing its green color. It's turning white or light green. Is that a bad sign? It's winter now and cold, I have it indoors and room temperature. Also is it ok to give it morning direct sun? Some people says morning direct sun is ok for plants in general, but not afternoon sun.
Morning sun is fine, don't worry about that. In winter few leaves might turn plate or even yellow because of cold weather. Just don't let them catch direct cold air. Some leaves are going to die because it's not favorable temperature for these plants. Remove yellow leaves if you notice them. Plants save their resources by getting rid of some leaves. Take good care until winter is over.
mine is in small pebbles and is always in water. it started growing a new stem and the bigger leaves are turning yellow at the tips. idk what the problem is exactly. but it was doing just fine before the new stem of leaves started growing.

@@GreenBackyard Haha. I bought it around 12 years ago and just got my first dead stalk. These tips were helpful to see how I can take better care of it. But oh man.. it took like 5 minutes to get out of its pot. It was DENSE with roots 😂. Should have replanted a long time ago.
I love to see a person so passionate about plants. You are a special person sir.
So nice of you

Propagate with stem cutting, You will have more plants - ruclips.net/video/qImWOJ94fIw/видео.html
1:53 Hey, can i use root powder instead of liquid fertilizer?
Rooting harmone powder is for new root growth but fertilizers work for overall plant health. It's leaves color and firmness and health etc. rooting powder can't be a substitute .
What recommendations do you have for one that’s grown to over 5 feet tall? The plant is starting to grow all sorts of directions and it’s top heavy.
You should prune the branches or shoots and plant them into another pot. Existing plant will shoot more branches 👍🏻
Great breakdown on Lucky Bamboo. Thank you. I have a purple stem and leaf lucky bamboo. Do you know what that version is called?
i don't have any idea about a purple bamboo stem. i think plants go purple usually with lack of phosphorus .
I dont know what it's called but I've seen them in Asia. It's not purple but more on the violet tone. They do exist.
@@koko140872 Cheers ;-)
I got my pkant from Lowes. Its not in a container nit a decorative elephant with mini rocks. Can i take it out and place in a container with water?
Yes , you can do that 👍🏻

The new stem could be draining the plant of nutrients, it’s best to add some fertilizer or switch to a different water source.
Last point about lights !
Every night we switch of the room light so it will affect the water bamboo ?
No, it won't affect at all. Light is only needed at day time.
@@GreenBackyard oh okay... thankyou
I have one big long bamboo how i split it carefully?
Split ??
Thanks For information 👌 👍
I’m going to have to propagate mines to save them ! Saw this right on time I have three together 😭
You should definitely propagate, but it's hard to propagate in winters. Provide warm conditions.
@ I will so my best thank you 🤞
If plant start turning yellow should we cut leaves and grow separate?
Yes, separate them
HI, how many years will Lucky Bamboo live in water?
Max 5 to 6 years
I’m sorry, I got confused on the lighting… should I keep it in a well lit area?
Yes, well lit area (shaded), protect from direct sunlight.
My bamboo plants new shoots started forming wrinkles on them😢😢can you plz tell what it is ?
Maybe lack of nutrients. Try fertilizing them and maintain humidity around plant. Don't place them in direct sun or heating or cooling areas.

What to do?
Are you using tap water ??
Can you use tap water that’s been sitting out for days ?
when one bamboo stick gets yellow and i removed it, will the plant regrow a new one?
No, you remove it so that the other's don't get yellow too.
@@GreenBackyard i see, thank you for answering my friend
Sir do they grow in garden soils
Yes, they grow in garden soil. add some sand it will help in draining.
Should I cut off the brown tips of bamboo plant?
Yes, you should. That doesn't do any harm to the plants.
Ends of my lucky bamboo are black like one part of this video... Is it normal or concerning?
It could be algae, you should clean it with a toothbrush 👍🏻
If i keep it in aquarium so how to i clean it?
Clean it's roots.with a gentle toothbrush.
Nice sharing 👍🏼
Thanks for visiting
Native to southeast asia?
Why does Google claim it is native to central Africa?
Now this will take some time to get into bottom of this 🤔
My lucky bamboo plant has many Yellow leaves. What should I do ?
Trim the yellow leaves in their shape. Use distilled/ RO/bottle water. Place them in bright light avoid direct light.
Esme keede pad jate hai daily
Aapko har week paani change krna padega.
"Clean the container every few months"
Oooops.. I'm a decade behind on that 😅.
