Yes. Congratulations on this documentary. I have seen various documentaries and read the Woodward/Bernstein book and the film based on the book but I am impressed by the extensive coverage of the Senate hearings and the way the various participants speak about their involvement in the case. It's very informative.
This is the best documentary on Watergate I've ever seen. Heck, one of the best documentary's period, and I've see a lot. I saw this first run on PBS in 2003, and even bought the DVD off their website a year or two later. So well put together, easy to understand, fascinating interviews, excellent use of historical Senate Hearings. Even the clarinet was used to perfection lol. I thought Magruder's reveal at the end was intriguing, but he is the one guy in the whole doc I didn't trust. Finally, my dad was a radio newsman for 40 years, he watched those Senate hearings live during our 73 summer vacation in the Ozarks, now I see why.
Its sad that there are 350 million Americans on this has only 123000 views.. shows how much Americans care about history,, Since 2003 this has been here,,

I think history is (next to being able to read) one of the most important subjects people should learn... when you run across dumb people you can bet your bottom dollar they don't know jack shit about history... you want to see sad... watch a few clips of Jay Leno's "Jay Walking" or "American's are dumb and proud of it"... there are U.S. citizens who don't know what the American Revolution was, when it was or who fought in it... In this case, as in most, the media presents the findings of those that perform the examinations and testing...whereas observations that are presented can have biases, as can the seen by both MSNBC and Fox. Inasmuch as experiences, those are personal and we each draw from them.

I lived through the Vietnam war and the White House scandal and disaster. I was profoundly affected and deeply saddened during these years by the assassinations of JFK , MLK, and Bobby Kennedy, and when my country was being destroyed from within by the Vietnam war and the Watergate debacle. As a young idealistic, recent law school graduate, I could not believe these events were actually happening. Today I look back at those years in sorrow but with a profound conviction that, first, we are a nation of laws and not of men and, second, that no president, priest, judge or anyone is above the law. Watching this video reminds me of John Donne's poem, No Man is an Island: "No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main... any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
The most interesting moment of this excellent documentary is towards the end of the film where Jeb Magruder, a Nixon aid, confirms he overheard Nixon give the order to tap phones at the National Democratic Party Headquarters. Nixon was directly involved from the outset.
Simon Cotton Without question Nixon had to have been directly involved. The only difficulty is the hard evidence. Even with Jeb stating that, legally it’s heresay. Nixon’s downfall was truly sad. Sad in the sense that he didn’t need this. He would had gotten the landslide re-election without it. And the loyalty from the plumbers is scary because we have people like that in 2019. This is a great doc on the subject, but the 1994 Watergate 3 part series is the most detailed and interesting one IMO Actually alot of the snippets on this doc are taken from the 1994 one. A channel named "American Patriot" has uploaded a great copy of it, if you've got about 4hours to invest.

Whilst Bernstein is quite a likeable guy, Woodward's incredible smugness is so off-putting that I would almost take Nixon's side on the issue of Watergate because of it. I can see why, before they worked together in earnest, Bernstein really did not like Woodward. He thought he was an Ivy League educated, over-privileged snob and because of his smug manner, it's easy to see why Bernstein was repelled by him somewhat.
During war-time, some freedoms and laws can (and probably should) be temporarily suspended. The trouble was that Nixon had been at 'war' with SOMEONE for thirty years. He couldn't make the distinction between 'political opponents' and 'personal enemies'. If you listen to those involved it is significant that they call each other, even their superiors, John, Al, Roger, Alan etc (a reasonably civil first name basis) but with him it was always Nixon or 'The President'. Tells you a lot.

This is a great doc on the subject, but the 1994 Watergate 3 part series is the most detailed and interesting one IMO
Actually alot of the snippets on this doc are taken from the 1994 one. A channel named "American Patriot" has uploaded a great copy of it, if you've got about 4hours to invest.
The history channel 6 part doc that came out last year is incredible too. Does a great job of contextualizing Watergate among the actions of a wildly criminal president

C Richter this isn’t even the best documentary on watergate. The Discovery Channel did a three part long one, which tells you everything you need to know about watergate from A-Z. You watch that, and you could teach an entire college course on Watergate.

Nixon wasn't the first president to visit The Soviet Union. FDR was there in 1945 for the Yalta Conference.

So, techically Nixon was the first president to visit the Soviet Union, not yelling doing this for emphasis, DURING THE COLD WAR. I think thats the context they are talking about or trying to talk about not the first but what they mean is the first during the Cold War.

Whilst Bernstein is quite a likeable guy, Woodward's incredible smugness is so off-putting that I would almost take Nixon's side on the issue of Watergate because of it. I can see why, before they worked together in earnest, Bernstein really did not like Woodward. He thought he was an Ivy League educated, over-privileged snob and because of his smug manner, it's easy to see why Bernstein was repelled by him somewhat.

During war-time, some freedoms and laws can (and probably should) be temporarily suspended. The trouble was that Nixon had been at 'war' with SOMEONE for thirty years. He couldn't make the distinction between 'political opponents' and 'personal enemies'. If you listen to those involved it is significant that they call each other, even their superiors, John, Al, Roger, Alan etc (a reasonably civil first name basis) but with him it was always Nixon or 'The President'. Tells you a lot.
We in the rest of the world wonder if the Republicans will do the right thing to save your country. From the way those fellows Nunes and Jordan act, it looks like they won't. You should write your congressmen.

(some writers claim that Baldwin betrayed the "operation" from the start) But on the other hand, if that security guard hadn't noticed the tape on the door, he wouldn't have raised alarm, so even if these Serpicos were in the neighborhood on purpose, how would they have caught the burglars without the alarm raised by the security guard Wills ? Strange story, the last words certainly haven't been told....
