- Jack Ross has all the traits of being a good inside Mid, and we are seeing that in pre season so far.
can he lock in a starting mid spot?

He can kick, he's got good decision making, can move amongst traffic, and he's clean with the ball we need that right now and he's had good Afl exposure to add to the next generation and wave of talent. This should be his time to cement his spot.
I've always noticed that he has good decision making skill. I guess he is one of the guys who has been on the list a few years now who really needs to lift probably to prove himself worthy of staying on the list, which means breaking in to the midfield.
@@mattk9089 I think he was on the verge of it last year before injury.
Definitely become more composed by foot!
Hopefully he locks that spot in!
As many others have said I’d love to see him get inside time, but his skinny side wing work goes very underrated. Macca (now Hugo) would handle the defensive running on the fat side while Jack would join links and provide more inside support for the mids in contested situations. He’s the perfect player for the role really.
Not only CAN he do it, he WILL do it!
agree, let's back him in!
Ross suites the new rules to a tea. Hope he gets alot of games
just needs that consistency!
100% said it all along, Jack is an inside midfielder. Put him in there and leave him there and let him show us what he can do.
As a junior was an inside bull, put him in there and see if he's got it.
@@AndrewDenny-Tassielad yep spot on!!
@@Mark-m2x8k fingers crossed that’s exactly what we get this year!
been a fan of jack( Valentino) Rossie an i always believe he is a midfielder an he's a good user of the footy. He would be a great replacement for when meatball decides to call it a day. Now let's see him step it up a gear this year.
Jack just needs a good injury free run to show how good he can be. I have seen some poor disposal at times when under pressure and not running back hard enough to help out the backline
I remember during his first year while we had some injuries he was being played from the centre, he had/has a really nice handall. Would draw the man first before passing like he'd already played a 100 games.
Good stats from his early games on the inside, I think he belongs there.
@@massimosepe1989 yeah spot on. Gets his arms up and free to dish out to free team mates. Small thing but very effective / valuable
Hopper on the pine, Ross starting on the guts. Ross is a smart footballer, and I'm glad you noticed he gets into good spots. Time and again he'd slip away to the HFF 25 metres in the clear to offer an option. This isn't just luck.
@@roundlycriticized666 yeah he is a very smart runner. I think he is / has been piecing it all together now
Its a basic in footy running to space creates clean possessions AND the ability to play a fast running game provided its happening all the way up the ground it creates goals and more importantly WINS ! That combined with what we did so well in 2017 and that was getting numbers to the ball when it was in dispute something that hasn't. been as evident recently . Jack will shine at midfield l have no doubt !!!
@ I’m with you!
He has the confidence now that he lacked in the past. He showed last year that he is at the level mentally. As yze said, the club is depending on the young guys to step up for the club to go forward, and if himself, Bauer, mcaullife and a few others step up, and go to the next level - tiges may not finish bottom 4 next year.
@@jackcrook4435 yeah agree!
He’s the best give him the middle reminds me a bit of Mark Couglan
@@johnfloris6306 cogs! 😍
@@BigFootyTigerscast yes mate
Leaning towards him being my breakout player of this yr. Just needs to stay fit.
@@Jonesracing82 would be a pretty solid pick I reckon!
My honest Opinion of Jack Ross
He is a class above VFL midfielder,,but only a average AFL midfielder,,,Toranto ,Hopper ,Prestia are all well above average Midfielders,
But with Prestia in his last year,,and our drafted mids needing time,,we need someone to step up,
But I believe he needs to improve a lot, otherwise the young mids will go past him pretty quickly.
He will get his chances,(Barring injury )this year,,,,it will be make or break for him,and i think he knows it.
I also believe that if he is played mostly VFL this year, for whatever reason,he will request a trade at seasons end .
It’s like any time this sort of positional question comes up when you have several players for one or two positions, it’s not who you put in but who you leave out. Just glad I’m not a selector . Lol
@@Skipper.17 especially if they are all fit and available 😂
I felt like we overrated him early in his career because we saw what he could be to what he was then. He has certainly has become a more consistent footballer, a hard worker and I reckon if he’s injury free will be a permanent fixture for the next couple of years.
Thanks for that. Yes I guess mansell and Campbell can fill that role. Would he maybe go to a wing as mcintosh may finish after this season
I’m on the bench with Ross I wonder how he’s going to go with the new team plan of moving the ball quickly He tends hold it to long and won’t take first option Anyway I wish him luck
I guess I’m the odd one out here. Others are suggesting he’s an inside midfielder but I really think we need a smart footballer close to goals.
nothing wrong with being the odd one out! I guess if we look at his strengths it has been as a ball winner. but to your point about smart footballers close to goal, I feel like this is where the clubs has a lot of trust in Mansell, Campbell, Rioli, Alger etc.
Having said that, nothing stopping them from resting Ross forward more to utilize his nice long shots at goal!
It's probably a make or break year for him, hopefully he gets early opportunities & shows he's improved, otherwise he might be elsewhere next season. Given that the club's invested 6 years in him, I want to see him succeed & not hanging around as a depth player.
I feel that our mid field is quite strong already. Ross can kick goals and I feel that now Bolton has gone we need a player to move down and help lynch. I don’t know that much really but Ross is very talented and I would put him ahead of Seth Campbell in this role. Dies this make sense 😢
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So unlucky not to play in the 2019 GF
@@birddog8083 in a lot of ways he has shown great character and resilience already!
Whole season inside mid
@@Sebsta04 I’m on board!!
Brownlow year
Would be huge!
Ross is a bull and barring injury this will be his breakout season as an inside midfielder EATEM ALIVE TIGERS!!!
I think he should play up forward. In a pocket as a crumber.
@@patkelly6349 what’s the rational for that position vs a midfield spot ?
