Oh man do I love me some Michigan, especially the Michigan winter of 2019. What a ride. Was in Michigan for 8 weeks of winter with my boys doing a little smidgen of electrical work, and let me tell you what... this song kept us going. We had to play it at least once a day, in full karaoke, with no shame from the other on lookers in traffic. My boys were supporting me, as boys do. I myself was going through a rough breakup, alike Mr. Hurd. Unlike Ryguy, I have completely given up on my ex, my time in Michigan would not be spent mopping about the woods in the cold.
It started with a nice night out of drinking margaritas and smashing chips & dip. Little did I know what I had in store for me that evening. The fellas wanted to keep the night going, but i said, "Its Michigan, in the winter, on a Wednesday, at 11 PM! What the hell are we going to do that will keep the fire a lit. We did some minor googling, yelping and asking of Mr Jeeves... And saw there was a club to hit! This was not your ordinary club. This club had a cigar bar and was held up by shinny metal poles! A few minutes after our arrival, we were greeted by beautiful woman! I locked eyes with this one gal, instantly I knew she could make a mean sandwich. I had to talk to her, had to know here name! After giving her the eye, she strolled up to my table and introduced herself. Her name was Brooke and she was the starlight to my moonshine. After some few eons, she asked me to dance. I was nervous, I don't really dance. I didn't practice at all before leaving for Michigan, I thought this state was foot-loosed and didn't do dancing. In the end, I caved. This was no "standard" dance, she rocked my stratosphere. It was getting so hot and heavy, I felt like a spotlight was shinning right on me for a second. After such monumental experience, I knew I needed more. So I took a wee, then hit the ATM to make sure I had enough dinero to survive the rest of the night. After a hullabaloo of an evening, with bro talk, lady dances and song requests that instantly got rejected (I requested this song 4 different times) things were winding down. We were set out to leave, when I told her.. I must see her again. You see, she was a youthful, plentiful and healthy woman who had potential to change the game for me. It was then as we exited, she was escorted away by a different man. I knew then, I was doomed unless we were in that club. Inside that club, I was the man! As long as I had my greens, I was treated like royalty. It was in that club where I left my soul.
Back home and no longer in Michigan, this song keeps me going. I have it as my alarm clock to get me going every morning. It's beautiful and awe inspiring.
I urn for my next winter in Michigan.

This song is the most under appreciated song ever written. It’s an absolute masterpiece and you cannot change my mind. I can literally listen to it until my ears fall off, and then I’ll lay my hand on a speaker so I can always feel it. If this song doesn’t make you feel something, then what does? I cry every time. Lived in Grand Rapids & Muskegon until I was 12, moved to Wisconsin for 6months and then to Ireland.
I'm 14, almost 15, and never thought I'd miss that state so much. My mom even misses it, and we're hoping to move back before the end of the year!
Last time I've been in that oh-so beautiful state was September 2017. Went to Wisconsin for Christmas, but didn't even go to the U.P at least!
