Thanks for this - the games looks great. Especially for historical games I often read the design notes first to help give a context to the history and why the designer made certain choices. I often think it then helps me to learn the rules.
Indeed, the game looks astonishing. I also agree that designer notes like an insight into what the designer planned - sometimes explain the choices made which might not be so obvious at the onset.
