How much do you drink? A couple of beverages with dinner or a massive weekend? Alcohol is part of every culture around the world but could it be messing up your BJJ game? JT & Joey talk about their personal experience as teen drinkers and playing sport, then how this has translated to being an adult and doing BJJ.
The boys discuss the social pressure to fit in at your Jiu-jitsu club which can compel you to take on unhealthy habits. They share how alcohol has negative affects on sleep, inflammation, dehydration and recovery.
What is the balance between rolling hard but also having fun with your friends? The holidays are upon us, is it time to write it off or get right...

So cool that I found you guys before you inevitably blow up. I’m a big fan of the content brothers. Cheers!
Ah thanks man! Glad to have you here : )
Hey guys, I loved the episode. Thanks so much for getting personal as well as informative and giving us your unique perspective on booze and alcohol and BJJ. This one was a blast. I hope to see more like it. As always, you guys are legends!
I second this ☝🏾 OSS🤙🏾
Ah thanks so much! Our pleasure.
Yes!!!! I can't wait to watch/listen to this when I get home!!!!
Crack a beer and enjoy!
@@bulletproofforbjj I'll try to replace it with acai 😉😁😆
I just found your channel. Started jujitsu few weeks ago. I'm 47. Really enjoying it. I am getting destroyed on the mat. I need to improve my diet and fitness. I have the bug so far, fascinated with grappling. Didn't realize how defenceless I am against a trained person
Welcome to the obsession of your life! Getting those outside elements sorted will really help accelerate your development on the mat.
I started at 47 was lucky I was always traning and I'm flexible so finding it hard but great hurt my ribs but I'm better now 4 days a week.
Just found you guys, loved this episode 🙌
So you’re saying I need some melted pig lard, got it! 😂
Seriously, Great chat guys. Changed my view on alcohol consumption post training and in general.
Our pleasure!
I love listening to you guys while at work. Thanks again for the interesting and entertaining episode. As an American I also like hearing y'all talked about the Australian culture. What is that hat and t-shirt with the taped knuckles that you are wearing?
Lads what are your thoughts on zero alcohol beer post training? I’ve had a zero Guinness after training a couple of times last week and it has felt really effective. As you say, blast of carbs, Guinness is full of iron, but obv no booze. Think it’s 70 cals for a tall can.
Look, I couldn't say that it would be the ideal go to,. however i'm sure there are some nutritional benefits (like the carbs).
Started BJJ mid December and haven't had a drink in four months. I don't feel my drinking was problematic but I certainly feel better. Similar to food choices, I consider how will effect my training. So usually that break room donut isn't worth how shitty I'll feel on the mat that night. Love your content!
Great podcast guys!! New subscriber here and new to BJJ and these type of discussions are exactly what I needed.
welcome!
Of course it's bad for BJJ.
For some people like me is bad in general, but if you enjoy it you can do it, for sure it won't help your BJJ
The ladies get wrecked by drinking bottles of wine after a stressful day of work instead of beers 😂😂😂
The part about the Russians though 😂😂😂😂
Came to Poland you would see what drinking mean. 😂
I read the headline…
Me: NO!!!!!!!!!
