Hey Bandrew, thanks for the mention. And yep, for the record, I was using all Mogami gold cables, directly into a 2i4. The replacement I got works perfectly. Still has a funny smell though.
🤔..if this look is a precursor for things to come, then I hope to live long enough to see the full beard & Bandrew podcasting from his cabin in the woods.
You can still get an iPod Touch that still gets iOS updates for like $200 I believe if you really wanted something with a bigger screen that won't track you too much.
The demo of Line Level vs Instrument Level is exactly how high impedance headphones (HD6xx/HD800s) or low sensitivity headphones (Abyss Diana V2) behave on an amp that can't output the needed power like a phone jack.
I loved the topics covered and insight given in this podcast! I think the passive nature of podcasts as you described it is its main staying factor. However, for people who seek more engagement, I foresee it gravitating towards binaural audio crossed with VR
I prefer expander over gate. Gates simply cut off everything below a set threshold. This creates a dissonance, when nothing can be heard below the threshold, until suddenly, out of nowhere you have really loud sounds. I feel like knowing the origin of whatever sound is preferable.
Bandrew - is the gate/exander you mention the Drawmer Noise Gate 500 series module you have mentioned before? Would love to better understand what you have in your lunchbox and how your using it.
I'll always be a downward expander kind of guy. I'll always advocate for it in every scenario. Fabfilter pro-g is my go to plugin. A gate will be open while the threshold is exceeded, therefore sound in the background is coming in hot. A DE pushes the sound down thats below the threshold at all times. My big concern is how much does that rob from the tone of my voice? I could argue a DE can take away from the body of a voice albeit slightly.
The Stellar X2 and X2 vintage? Modern recreation of vintage version of a mic is just a digital sound tuning, has no link to an older product. What do you think?
Great show, Bandrew. Thanks. I was thinking about the Ask Bandrew question dealing with line vs. instrument input, and wondered what kind of cable/connector was used by the listener. Isn't a TS connector expected for instrument input, vs. a TRS connector for balanced line input, and won't that affect results? I was under the impression that the interface expects line input to be balanced. I'm so confused. Turtle Beach was a popular sound card way back when, but I don't know if they were great or not.
In my opinion companies 'produce' an upgraded microphone (U87 vs U87-AI) for the money only. The consumer 'thinks' he/she is getting a better product. Everything upgraded = MONEY!
"Thanksgiving"???...I'm in Australia! WTF are you talking about?. Has it got anything to do with my email being bombarded with Black Friday sales?? *SIGH*.......... (only joking). P.S I STILL haven't received my Podcastage T Shirt ya bastard!!
If you ordered one and it didn’t arrive, then it sounds like there’s a problem with teespring. I’ll shut down my store there if they’re giving you the run around and not sending you the shirt you bought.
@@bsp All good buddy. I understand that things are a bit weird given the current situation & things do get held up. It has been a while though. If I don't receive it in the next 4 weeks I'll give you a heads up. The only reason I mentioned it was so I could call you a bastard!! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha....
This homeless looking guy that took over for Bandrew does a great job.
Will work for ELAM251.

You pretty much nailed it in your expanded vs gate talk. Bravo.
Billie here from the No Disclosure Podcast, thanks for answering my expander/noise gate question!!! You helped tremendously, thanks man
I had a beautiful non-US-thanksgiving, thanks Bandrew...
I’m so glad you had a great non-US thanksgiving. Tasty feast and plenty to be thankful for!
Hurray for Bo!! 👏 💪
Ay, i finally made it in an episode! Thanks for giving me some of your insight on vintage gear.

What a great show!!
Lol, hats off for Julian!
I had a really good sound card from Turtle Beach in 1999 or 2000. Really good stuff.

I picked up an iPod touch a few years back when I got was trying to go to a flip phone. The battery life was so trash that I abandoned ship on it.

YES basic low cost equipment will get you 82.5% of the way there. work on your content after that, not your tech issues.
I really need your full opionion on the Revelator io24 please and soon
What is the desk mic you are using?
Oh boy
You could always wrap your watch in foil. Along with your pee-pee. That should keep everything nice and safe.

The real reason for the Apple Watch is the new iOS Beard Growth Warning System. We know. It's OK.
hey Bandrew, I have a podcast show. Would you be interested in being a guest to talk tech with me ?

You always pride your show on avoiding political talk but then let it get in your show 75% of the time
